Wendy learning to enchant DS magic just now might be thanks to the body-switching. While she was in Irene's body, she probably gained all of Irene's knowledge and experience. If this works out, then this could be the key to defeating Acnologia. She could potentially enchant everyone to become pseudo-dragon slayers.

Disappointing end to a disappointing battle.
Is anyone else confused by Eileen loss of humanity as she turned into a Dragon? It was accepted for Acnologia because we don't know anything about his history and the type of Dragon he got his powers from. Eileen got her powers from a Dragon who could feel compassion and care for others, who died protecting humans, yet those feelings became suppressed for her when she turned into a feeling less Dragon, Also why was she so hell bent in turning into a Human again? After years of torture and seeing the worst in humans, and having a dragon as a father figure you'd think she'd want to abandon her human self and stay a dragon, and hold on to the connection she had to a happier time? It's one of the many reasons this whole mini arc has felt half-ar**d and badly cobbled together.

I'm just more disappointed that Irene was painted as cold, uncaring, and sadistic, yet switched back to admitting she loved Erza last second. As for the reasoning you gave out, well the answer could be that it is not unreasonable for her to want to believe she is human and obsess over wanting to return to being one because she wasn't being treated like human during her imprisonment, which drove her insane. when you are insane, you are not logical, that is all there is to it.
That said, I don't mind the "parental love" thing. It's only in this particular case it was utterly contradicting the characterization of Irene and could have been handled better. MUCH better. But I suppose it is because it was resolved in a few panels rather than that properly built up.
