Do you consider this statement to be fact? As far as I'm concerned the manga has made it a fact. Therefore the only possible way for NS to become canon is if Sasuke is saved. By that logic everyone who wants Sasuke to die is also indirectly causing their own shipping to sink as well.
Been thinking this for a while, never posted it on the other thread because I wanted peopled honest opinions to get an idea of what the general consensus among NS fans was.

If anything, Sasuke will be saved, just not in the village anymore. It seems like his route is to be a wanderer or perhaps create a village on his own. If Sasuke's team doesn't die, which is now 95% not happening, then I don't see him leaving. Anyway, to answer your question, I do believe Sasuke will be save, but it's only up to Kishi to consider it "saved". I know there was a manga that a person died but the girl was happy because he was saved from hatred and darkness regardless of his death. I just hope the redemption isn't simple like Konoha and the world would be like "Awesome. Welcome back!" He has done too much damage to be considered to return home. That is why Sasuke can become a wanderer.
As for Sakura, like I mentioned above, it depend how Kishi consider "saved". I bet Sakura would be happy for Naruto to save Sasuke, because even if he's not with them, at least Sasuke is freed from darkness. That's a great chance of happening when considered a good ending.

Yeeeeeah. I've wondered about this too. Sasuke knows perfectly well how much Naruto loves Sakura. I always kind of thought it was a point in Sasuke's favor -- a sign of his grudging respect for Naruto -- that he never baited Naruto about Sakura's crush on him (Sasuke) or rubbed it in Naruto's face. Sasuke even set the record straight that Naruto saved Sakura from Gaara.
But things are different now. And Sasuke's had a fairly recent reminder of the lengths Naruto will go to save Sakura (very gallantly, I might add) and defend her place as their equal on Team 7. I can totally see Sasuke playing the Sakura card against Naruto in some way at some point, knowing that if Naruto has an Achilles Heel, she's it.
However, I think we could see them go through that but still go on to see Sasuke work with Naruto before the end too, maybe against Madara. Maybe a more elaborate version of their joint effort against Haku, where Sasuke risked himself and his goals to protect Naruto because his "body moved on its own."

This might be in a future plot, Sasuke might try to kill or kidnap Sakura to show Naruto true meaning of hatred, so Sasuke might resort to that plan since he might be the final villain.

Hinata has ramped it up by making her declaration of "holding his hand" about Naruto. So I bet the next thing is going to come from Sasuke.
Although I'm also hoping that Sasuke tweaks Naruto by going after the one thing that he knows — he alone knows — will set Naruto off: going after Sakura. By harming her or putting her in danger, Sasuke will have lit Naruto's fuse. *rubs hands together evilly*
I've been thinking about that too. But it depends if Sasuke stays in the evil path he will definitely use Sakura as live bait to draw Naruto out. If Kishi takes this path then I have a theory that it will be Sasuke himself who reveals about Naruto transforming into him leaving Sakura to connect the dots that it was really Naruto who complimented her forehead as part of the bench scene. She will realize it was Naruto all along and finally get rid of her selfish infatuation for Sasuke, she already knows she loves Naruto more right, but this will be a good wake up call to make her see that Naruto knows her more than she knows about herself. Its just a theory and wishful thinking too.

Like I said Sasuke may have gone off the deep end but judging by those pages he wouldn't try something like that especially now that he has something that slightly resembles sanity makes it a little less likely.

I've thought along those same lines as your first ¶. For all the crap Sasuke goaded him with, he never went after Sakura as a point to hurt Naruto. He could have easily asked her out on a date just to make Naruto jealous. And they were already jealous of each other's skills. So it's reasonable to think he might have. But he didn't.
As Katara would say, let's give him the Not-As-Much-Of-A-Jerk-As-He-Could-Have-Been Award!
But I also have a suspicion that this might be used to somehow redeem Sasuke's attack on Sakura. Sasuke wasn't trying hard and wasn't worried about the consequences because he knew Naruto would save her. Kind of like Itachi's psuedo-murderous rampage on Sasuke to drive out Orochimaru's curse. There are some flimsy justifications for what their actions that in the end help redeem them.
(When I say Sasuke wasn't trying hard, I mean he was using a straightforward tactic that was easy to block. The Sakura that fought Sasori could have easily blocked those blows. But here she was blinded by her emotion, and I think he knew that. That's why he fought her half-heartedly. If he wanted to kill her, he could have done waaaaay worse. Kakashi, I think he meant to kill. But Sakura, no. It's the same dynamic with Orochimaru, Tsunade and Sarutobi.)
And imagine Naruto's reaction if Sasuke had killed her. He would have known that Naruto would have exploded. So as much as Sasuke talks about inflicting his pain on others, he's not really good at doing it. He's still driven by his own vengeance. Otherwise he would have killed Sakura and left her body floating in the water so Naruto would know what it feels like to lose the person closest to you, as he had lost Itachi and his family by Konoha's hands. Then he and Naruto would be on an even playing field. But again, Sasuke didn't do it. Which still adds points under the "Redeemable" column.
It remains to be seen though, if Sasuke gets desperate enough he might go after Sakura in the end. And going back to the original thought of how could SS come back through Sasuke rather than Sakura.... In the very, very end, when all hope appears lost, change-of-heart Sasuke might appeal to Sakura to help him save Naruto. Thus appealing to both ships and coming full circle with Sasuke's recognition of her. Then that element of suspense — who chooses whom — can be carried on long after the chapters of plot climax/resolution and into the very last pages of the manga, if not in the epilogue itself (like FMA).
Alright! No more LAPs for me! I've got work to do!

To be fair Kishi has been very inconsistent with Sasuke character development.
He's avenger, a traitor, a crazy man, and now identity crises.
We just got to wait and see.

I agreed since he left Konoha in part 1 Sasuke has played more than just the anti-hero role, he's become the "wild card" of the series. You don't know what he's going to do next, any of his future actions in the current plot are unknown he's no longer a predictable character. You can't guess what he's thinking or what will be his next move. With what happened to him after Itachi left and his journey with Orochimaru it's unknown whether he will remain on his path to have revenge on Konoha and the shinobi world or just find a new path that might lead to harm the world, the possibilities are endless. That's why we have to be patient and wait until Kishi shows us what he has plan for him.

It has been discussed that Sasuke might hijack Tobi's Moon eyes plan.
Maybe this new journey will make Sasuke conclude that the Shinobi World is a hopeless cycle of despair with no end. Therefore he decides that the best way to deal with it is to force everyone into an illusion that makes them get along.
The final battle of Naruto against Sasuke might end up being a clash of believes. Naruto fighting for a peaceful future in which everyone tries their best to willingly cooperate while Sasuke fights for a peaceful future that can only be accomplished by forcing everyone into submission with illusions.
Naruto's ninja way vs Sasuke's ninja way. Now that would be an epic climatic battle.

But I find that Sasuke's character development has been very consistent when it comes to Naruto, when he was an avenger he believed himself to be superior to Naruto, when he was a traitor he believed himself to be superior to Naruto, when he was a crazy man he believed himself to be superior to Naruto,
My point, someone who has a superiority complex is not going to resort to a tactic that makes it look like they are the weaker party.

Thats my conclusion pretty much as well.
the final battle of the Manga is Naruto and Sasuke, and its going to be one of ideals and nindos if you will.
thats where the redempton will come and im pretty firm in the belief that Karin, and Sakura will both be present as well for that epic final conflcit which will be fought with more then just fists and jutsu.

the love coming from a boy matters and it matter a lot.

Wow I almost thought the first sentence was sarcastic. It's completely sexist...

But trepidation of the spheres,Though greater far, is innocent. (John Donne)

So... The boy's feelings don't matter huh? I wonder how many relationships this brod has been in.

Could you please ask him why the girl's feelings matter more than the boy's feelings in a relationship between equals? Actually, I'm not sure I want to read his reasoning...

I'm going to assume that person is referring only to how romantic feelings work in the point of view of fictional stories. If that person is implying that's how it works in real life then that's just plain retarded.
But still, even if that person is only referring to the developments in works of fiction that assumption is still wrong. In every work of fiction the feelings of the main protagonist are the ones that matter the most, regardless of what gender they are.
So far Naruto has only shown interest in Sakura. That, in and of itself, makes it the most likely paring even without taking into account the monumental amount of development they have mutually shared within the story.
