Kishi said he wanted to end the story conclusively, so I find your idea hard to believe. It might be a rushed ending but it will cover all that he intended to cover. "The Last" is what you would call an extra story. It's part of the canon, but it's not necessary in order to understand the full story of Naruto.

 

I believe we'll have an epilogue in the last chapter that shows Naruto as Hokage, and "The Last" will simply cover a time period that happened after the war, but before that epilogue.

 

That doesn't seem to be the case anymore if Kishi cared about ending his manga conclusively he would end it with Naruto becoming hokage.

The only reason why you see Sakura thinking about Sasuke so much is because he's so deep in the darkness that she "cares about him more than she can bear". When Sasuke didn't give a kitten about her in 676 that just meant he's not even close to being redeemed (it's not like he will ever fall in love with her if at this point he can't even bring himself to care about her as a human being). It's the same thing in 678 when he was being rude to her and in 680 when he was willing to let her fall into lava. Then a few chapters later we see Sakura wanting to save Sasuke only to not waste the chance that Naruto gave her and Obito.
 
I think she has already moved on since Kakashi even said that she's not trying or wanting to be with Sasuke.
 
That's a good theory, that she's clinging to those feelings to try and save him.

Agreed! I am of the same opinion as you. But her still not having a realisation about her feelings for Naruto is something what I don't like. With all the implications Kishi made it clear that she harbours feelings for Naruto. But all of it is left for interpretation. Why not atlest show that she is aware of it not on sub conscious but conscious level? I personally find it bad to leave things for interpretation at this stage. Whyy sacrifice her character for that? There were other ways to go about doing it :/

Edit: To sum it up, what I want to put forth is...Kakashi's words and opinions and analysis coming from Sakura herself and NOT from some third party

If she knows she's over him why would she bother clinging to any intimate feelings? She should be well aware that Sasuke doesn't give a kitten about her.

The final chapter will apparently be followed by a special chapter that leads to the movie. 

 

It doesn't really matter either way I'm just hyped for the new era project which I got confirmation will continue the series.

I have been saying this too. This is why I need an epilogue that conclusively ends the series. Give us the pairings and make Naruto Hokage and I'm fine with that. If the pairings get resolved in the movie it just means that Kishi does not care about his own work that much too include it in the manga.

I still don't understand why do people are clinging for a Gutsy Ninja ending for NS  when the ending is pure kitten . Do you guys really consider that a victory  when the girl's romantic feelings are being more emphasized for Renge (Sasuke) but ends with Naruto just bc she couldn't save/have the other guy ? As much as I hate the silver medal argument but this scenario makes it exactly like that . 

 

I mean look at it like this Sakura's feelings for Sasuke are brought time and a time again as the strongest kitten ever (when there is no reason for it to even grow  ) while for Naruto's always hidden and bc of that her feelings visually are shown as stronger for Sasuke then are for Naruto  the image for NS doesn't look convincing or good  its kittening on the paring and make it seem halfassed bc of the visual aspect . Its like NS happened for the sake of happening Naruto's confession doesn't solve the problem .

At this point, I would be glad if NaruSaku happens in any scenario. Even if Naruto is a "rebound" (most people in irl relationships were rebounds) we all know their relationship would work well and they would live happily ever after.

What are you talking about? In the Gutsy Ninja novel the girl realized that Naruto is the one she loves by doing what the sensei told her: close her eye and imagine what brings you the most happiness.

 

Not to mention that the other girl kept teasing her about liking Naruto.

You gotta admit that the character positions are very similar to what happened in Gutsy Ninja. We have the rivals battling in one side and the sensei with the love interest on the other side.

 

Then again I'm only making assumptions based on the little summaries that were done in this very site. Was it any different?
