It was really fun. The only issue I faced in my PS3 beta (Cloud had the PC version) was the lag and frame rate issue, especially when there's a bunch of enemies and other players on screen. Makes sense, though, the PS3's not as powerful as gaming PCs. Also the targeting's a bit odd, again, especially when facing larger groups.
They did do something similar to Guild Wars 2 with open-world random events called Fates, it's not as varied though, usually consisting of killing an X amount of monsters (sometimes to collect an X amount of drops). Still, even on PS3, the game is gorgeous and the characters have a surprising amount of facial and body reactions, which help mitigate the lack of voice overs from every character.
I did discover that PS3s and PCs do cross-play, which is quite interesting, though Cloud and I played on different servers. NA and EU were also under the same 'grouping' of servers. You could choose to either play in one of the Japanese servers or in one of the NA/EU servers, but I'm not sure if NA can play on EU servers or vice versa since the EU servers are labeled EU despite being grouped under the NA/EU category.
It's nice to see that the dev team behind FFXIV has been looking at other successful MMOs, like Guild Wars 2. Like you, I hope that they vary the events, though - you can only do so many "kill X monsters" events before it gets old.
The cross-play is cool, and people shouldn't be too worried about consoles limiting the content since the PS3 has the space to undergo regular patches and updates. I remember when Phantasy Star Universe had PC/X360/PS2 cross-play, but that ended up crippling the game because the PS2 did not have storage space for patches, and the 360 had its lengthy QA process and Microsoft wanting to get a cut from new content or micro-transactions. So PSO2 went PC-only (and we are STILL WAITING for the Western release
).
Oh god, the game was gorgeous, even more so than Guild Wars 2.
I gotta upgrade my OS to Windows 7 though, because with XP, I'm only using 2 of my 8 gb of ram. And sometimes the game lags trying to load areas. Shauna, you need to try it!
Yes, update to Windows 7!! It'll let you use your PC to its fullest potential, and it runs well.
I'm currently waiting for an SSD to arrive today. It'll be my first ever SSD, and I can't wait to see how fast it'll load Windows and games like Guild Wars 2.

Beat last of us, was amazing, hope they don't give it a sequel, its great as it is. Really feel like Naughty Dog made the two best games this gen, I hope Neil Druckman scripts the next Uncharted.

Well, turned my PS3 off then turned it on twice, turned on fine so my PS3's probably in the clear.
I heard they pulled the update as well, but if it prompts you to update it, don't. Turn off auto-upload if you have those too.

Jim Sterling needs to stop being so right all the time, because I don't want competition in being right. =P

So, for those wondering how worth it PS+ is, http://blog.us.plays...last-discounts/ Battlefield 3 is going free this month for PS+ members.
I've heard Bad Company 2 was better, but I've never played either, so I don't know.
