I wonder if Killer Instinct fans are pissed off now. The franchise has finally been revived, but now it's in this psuedo "you'll have to buy the characters" microtransactions model. It's also going to throw balance out of whack; not everyone having the same characters means that it's inevitable some folks are going to be in a better position than others.

Has anyone played The Last Of Us? You NEED to buy this game if you own a Playstation 3 and if you do...spoilers the intro of the game will leave you an emotional wreck.

Just bought it as a graduation gift to my brother, came home and he's like, "DUDE! Did you see the 15 min. intro on youtube? I almost cried!"   As it stand, he gets first crack at it right now, which is fine; he's going to graduation parties every weekend, so I can play it. XD

Lol, signed up a long time ago back when they announced they're taking in beta sign ups.  I think they're just opening up PS3 beta so it took almost 1-2 years for them to send me an invite.

I'm one of the three weirdo's who isn't all that jazzed about Last of Us. I'll get around to it eventually, but I'm not knocking over any old ladies on my way to find a copy. I think it comes down to the fact that I'm wore out on the whole "apocalypse" thing and feel it needs to take a damn break already.

I watched the first 20 minutes. Outbreak stories are aways amazing as long as they are well executed. And the Last of us really delivers in this aspect.

Oh, damn it. Now the beta log in's asking for a Country of Residence to be included in my Squenix account when I'm seeing clearly that there's a country of residence included in my squenix account.

I agree, I'm just burnt out. The entertainment industry ran it into the ground leading up to 2012. Now I could care less about any of it.

It was really fun.  The only issue I faced in my PS3 beta (Cloud had the PC version) was the lag and frame rate issue, especially when there's a bunch of enemies and other players on screen.  Makes sense, though, the PS3's not as powerful as gaming PCs.  Also the targeting's a bit odd, again, especially when facing larger groups.  

 

They did do something similar to Guild Wars 2 with open-world random events called Fates, it's not as varied though, usually consisting of killing an X amount of monsters (sometimes to collect an X amount of drops).  Still, even on PS3, the game is gorgeous and the characters have a surprising amount of facial and body reactions, which help mitigate the lack of voice overs from every character.

 

I did discover that PS3s and PCs do cross-play, which is quite interesting, though Cloud and I played on different servers.  NA and EU were also under the same 'grouping' of servers.  You could choose to either play in one of the Japanese servers or in one of the NA/EU servers, but I'm not sure if NA can play on EU servers or vice versa since the EU servers are labeled EU despite being grouped under the NA/EU category.

Oh god, the game was gorgeous, even more so than Guild Wars 2.

 

I gotta upgrade my OS to Windows 7 though, because with XP, I'm only using 2 of my 8 gb of ram. And sometimes the game lags trying to load areas. Shauna, you need to try it!
