vote as many times as you want? In that case, the poll is unreliable and can't be taken seriously.

Huh? It's done by surveying the web hit numbers for those terms in Japanese, so it's actually pretty reliable, especially since it has been tracked over time using the same technique.

Perhaps you were mistaking this with Shonen Jump's reader favorite polls? Because yes those are that way.

You can vote more than one time because the number of votes is so much lower than the number of subscriptors.

Yes, for Shonen Jump's favorite character poll. The paring poll, is somewhat misnamed, it's not a poll in the traditional sense, there's no voting. It's all time intensive research. (Which is probably why no one at NF has done it since May 2012, that and the fact the favorite ship there, NH, always comes in so low amongst Japanese fans laugh.gif ) This sort of thing is still called a poll in research of popular culture trends though ("Most popular search terms on google poll", etc...) basically because it's a researched list with definite number rankings.

It's more accurate than the Shonen Jump readers favorite characters poll, yes. It's using the same formula that other pop culture trend researchers use. Don't know who originally did it in western Naruto fandom and told the forum how to do it, but they must have had the background to know how to do it. This is basically like the sort of info that search engines like Google sell to advertisers (except they- ugh- give the advertisers some of the personal info so they can do "targeted advertising")

People like me- librarians, use that kind of research poll results professionally (sans the personal info- we find that unethical and a violation of privacy) to refocus our collections. This is why you started to see libraries get graphic novel and manga collections about 10 years ago, and why most libraries of any size now offer a collection of e-books... Some librarians did that kind of research, saw the trend, wrote articles in Library Journals reporting the results, and bang, in came graphic novels, e-books, etc...

The research geek in me is in heaven looking at those numbers. There's so much raw info that's just waiting to be gleaned from those numbers.... But I won't bore the majority of you here that aren't research geeks like me. laugh.gif I know most people hate research and see nothing terribly exciting in a list like this. happy.gif

if it follows the pattern of part 1 the next full databook won't come out until the final chapter is published in Shonen Jump. Which from Kishimoto's latest words will be sometime in 2014.

OK, Thanks

So speaking of databooks, what is you guys opinion on databook 2 about Sasuke.

Towards darkness… The one to appear before him is Sakura. She confesses to him as he tries to leave without looking behind him. She confesses with a blindingly uncompromising mind that does not want to lose him. The one that filled his lonely existence was Sakura. But he cannot let her in. He leaves with just one word of thanks.

The manga never shown Sasuke & Sakura having a very close relationship, and in my opinion, Naruto was the one that was closes to Sasuke.

Yeah. That point always bugged me about that translation. I have all the databooks in the original Japanese but I have not attempted my own translation- the time factor, and frankly, lack of interest in that ship...

lol - sounds like a great opening paragraph of a SasuSaku fanfic though! laugh.gif

It does sound a screwy. Not so much representing the reality of the relationships. It's more perpetuating the whole love triangle thing. (I'd be curious to know what the Naruto and Sakura blurbs from the same book say.) It's also kind of funny because it make Sasuke seem a lot more caring than he was at the time. And it's certainly out-of-whack with how he's to develop in the future.

Not at all if the ones on NF annoys me, what will this guy do to my brains? We were only talking about the most intense NH, NS and SS fans and I gave them the name of one of the persons from each fandom.

I was wondering if it was bad translation or Kishi did not give crap, because Sasuke does not care about Sakura.

Yeah. Remind me after Dragoncon (August 30-September 3) and I see what I can do about looking at them. I need to do sewing on a costume for Dragoncon and finish a couple of doll ones too and time is getting short- especially with the way the pollen is making me feel sick and miserable this year- my choices are take an antihistamine and sleep too much but feel okay, or not take one and be sick with a migraine that night and have to go to bed early anyway- tongue.gif Not conducive to either sewing or translating. I'll be so glad when frost hits this year! (pollen has been really bad here this year, especially the weeds related pollens that make me feel the worst...)

I'm with him. The upcoming chapters is going to be make or break for NaruHina since Hinata is that determined. This is now or never. That said I do believe NaruSaku has like 90% chance of happening than anything. Third parties, parallels, true development, Sakura's hidden feelings, and Naruto's confession that will happen are the few that supports NaruSaku. Sakura has only herself to support SasuSaku and Hinata has only herself to support NaruHina. NaruSaku has both as mentioned above.

Sorry but no, as a someome who study algorithms and knows a lot of stuff about programming and stuff because i do computer science.
You will never hit a "closed number" just look at some pairing ammout you have 101 while you got 6**.100 these type of numbers does not existe and most of all you got more then 1 million of votes for 3 yaoi pairing each three hiting close numbers finishing with *****00.
There's no algorithm in the world that gives an estimative of "votes" for some pairing and for others gives you a closed number like 101, 96, 504.
This stuff of "Research" does exist and around 2010 they had less than 1 million of subscriptors.

And most of all i dont care about pairing vote stuff since they are never accurate always have someome with scripts and use it on their favorite pairing.

In my sincere opinion they blow off this poll because 3 yaoi pairing on the top 3 and they did on purpose with scripts just for troll
