Yeah, they do that. I originally tolerated it, and i dont know why.

I Don't like stories where Sharingan is ÃœBER-MEGA-ULTRA-AWESOME-DEATHGODLEVELOFDEADLY cheap.
I mean, seriously, The Bones bloodline is far more practical as far as combat goes, with enough chakra and enough skill, you have the ability for your BODY to become the ultimate weapon. I'm tired of Authors assuming that Sharingan= win

also,i hate SasuX Anyone. It's not just the principle of the pairing, i've read some of the highly reccomended ones, and Sasuke didn't even seem like Sasuke anymore.

I agree with Vespar, no point having the translations of jutsus at the bottom when you've already forgotten when the jutsus were used.

I'm kinda torn on the translation issue. Too many translation notes in the middle of a story pull me out of the flow and that's a problem. But then my eyes will cross sometimes when I see an original jutsu that looks something like, "Katon: Goukyakuu no Kaze no UltraMega Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious no jutsu!"

So please, either keep your original techniques relatively simple in name (these ninjas do tend to shout them out after all) or go ahead and put them in English.

The A/Ns in the middle of the story? Do I REALLY need you to tell me I'm supposed to be laughing here? *cue canned laughter* If you have to randomly put "LOL" in your mid-A/N that tells me one of two things:

1) You deviated from the mood of the story for no good reason.
2) Your joke/crack fic, it is weak. Fozzy Bear would throw tomatoes at YOU.

Either way it fails.

AGree. Giving him bloodline is all fine and dandy, but mastering them in what, one chap, that's a bit too strong for my liking.

Well, the Sharingan thing kind of hard to not make cheap, its one of the stonggest bloodlines in the manga, and its had the most technique/abilities shown for it, so its currently the strongest bloodline easily.

Yeah, but still, you have to TRAIN to make it better. Some stories nowadays, honestly, GO NARUTO WITH SHARINGAN AT AGE 5! OWN EVERYONE. Yeah, nuff said.

I dunno, between watching someone punch me in the face in slow motion or fast motion? i'd rather have the ability to shoot a bone spike from my eyebrow-line, impaling their fist without even needing to move my arms. Seriously, with the Kaguya-clan limit, everytime some-one punches you, they get stabbed, or impaled. or cut. so really, The Kaguya's only weakness is long-range, but wait! Kimi has shown the ability to launch BULLETS FROM HIS FINGERS. yeah, Sharingan can kiss bone-stabby-thingy-no-jutsu's butt!!

My pet peevs:

Yaoi: Seriously freaks me out, except for some which are really good fics. Most of these are filled with too much smex.

Overpowered: Seriously, a three year old taking on a grown up, this is too much. Child psychology does not work that way. Besides, a person getting power with only one chapter worth of training is also a boo boo.

HP crossovers: Most of the fics are really bad written. Though its canon I still can't digest the Harry-Ginny pairing (Toriyama anyone?). Besides, crossovers in general suck. Exceptions: Legend Of Uzumaki Naruto, Trioka Parallel because of the maturity of the writing (even though the first one may not end up being NaruSaku, its still a compelling read).

Sasuke bashing: Now this is something I really don't like. Sasuke has a personality mostly in gray but many authors have painted him in all black, which kills off a very nice character. I plain dislike bashing fics in general.

Mary Sues: I don't need to elaborate on these.

MPREG: They are sick, that's what they are. They need psychiatric attention.

IM Speak: I really, really don't know what to say. I'm here, a non-native English speaker and I can write better than native English speakers. The same goes for bad grammer and spelling mistakes.

Evil/Bad Naruto fics: Seriously, why would someone like to put our lovable cheerful hero in an emo costume?

Really naive Naruto fics: Now this is a strange category, but still very much applicable. Naruto is loud and brash but he's is NOT an idiot. He may not be able to think coolly under a situation but he is a lot more thoughtful than many fics give him credit for.

Evil/Bad Sakura fics: I understand a hot tempered Sakura but not an emo Sakura. In short all kinds of Sakura bashing masquerading as something else.

Self-mutilation/suicide fics: These people sure have issues, and pretty serious ones at that.

Naru/Hina in luurrve fics: Sudden declarations of love and then, sex. This category includes Sasu/Saku fics and surprise Naru/Saku fics as well. At least swingers are a lot more honest there.

This is the most I could think up at the time. There are others also I believe but these would do for the day.

Wow...you must have to sift through pages and pages of fanfiction to find one that is readable for you

^0^ After all, your first and second pet peeves alone eliminate something like 90% of Naruto fanfiction. While the figure might be slightly exaggerated, I'm pretty sure it's over 60% at least.

Thankfully most authors do put up the keywords on the summaries. Plus fics do filter in from the sieves I mentioned here, sooner or later. I mostly use the search function and the C2s to find good fics, reading up opening chapters to judge plus reviews.

Why isn't "yaoi" in the ff.net filter function anyway? The sheer amount of NaruSasu you get on a page if you search for ANYTHING is amazing really, yet horrifying all the same. And it doesn't always work to write NaruSasu in that "witout word(s)" bar anyway, since the worst authors write yaoinarusasu, sasunarushonen-ai, narusasulove, mpregnarusasu... etc, and I don't have enough patience to write in every single possibility in that stupid bar every time I search for something. I demand a decent yaoi filter (and NaruHina filter plz) right this instant!

I'm not saying it's bad. It's a lemon fic, but lol, most of you might spit at it. Why? Coz well, the lemons are.......pretty funny shall we say? i crack up every time the female goes, "OH NAAARRRRUUUTTTOOOO- KUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!"

HAHAHA. Honestly, if you want to write a lemon, please, dun do that. I read it for a laugh, but if u keep doing it, it gets sooo pathetic. DX

I dunno if I've listed this before but lot of my hates are the generic ones. But what riles me up is in fact, the original techniques.

AND I REALLY MEAN THAT (swear word here) CHIDORI RASENGAN COMBINATION THAT EVERYONE IS USING ON THAT FRIGGING NINTENDO NARUTO SITE!

The length of the technique doesn't bother me, sure the ninjas do have a habit of saying them out loud, but it the name is indeed long, break it up into segments. Like my original techniques do have some long names, plus the way I write them down, makes it twice as long as well.

"Ketteiteki Jutsu: Fubuki no Sakura Henkei: Gekido no Aisu Tenba, Final Art: Snow Storm of Cherry Blossoms Variation: Rage of the Ice Pegasus"

I'll have them say all of that, but it segments, like have a character say a section, add in a description, more of the name then more description. It adds the drama that way.

The Bashing of Sakura and Sasuke- I think they get so messed up most of the time. But I only read NaruSaku/funny(unless it's not NaruSaku) stories.

Poor Characterization- This happens in so many IchiRuki sotries, it's not even funnny. Ichigo goes around being mean and grumpy to EVERYONE, and he acts like a punk when that is just supposed to be the general perception of him. He doesn't run away from fights (school), but he doesn't go around starting them. And, Rukia! I could go on and on.

Too much kissing stuff too early- I just do not like twelve year olds doing all..that stuff. I tolerate it, but it makes me feel like I should not be reading it.

A lot of curse words- Ok, when Naruto is cursing every other word, there's something wrong. "Kuso" means something like darn, I believe. Not s***.

I'll have to add unnecessary japanese to my list.

To me, it's alright for technique names as long as there's a translation or a heavy description of it in action coming up, and also for suffixes (-chan, -kun, -sama, etc) and titles (also a translation afterwards) since sometimes it's difficult to replicate the same sort of word-relationship that you just can't translate from japanese to english -atleast without getting really liberal about it.

'Hai' and 'iie' definitely push that for me. It is just yes and no.

I'd have to mostly agree with you except for a handful where really good writing would turn fails into wins! (Evil!Naruto/Sakura kicks ass if they're mostly along madness and not emo, and Naive!Naruto absolutely wins if he hands out nosebleeds left and right but hasn't got the talk yet. )

Naruto complaining about how badly the villagers treat him like every other second. Or how badly Sakura treats him. He's never done this in canon ever and I think that it's really OOC for him to harp on and on about it, especially out loud.

If anything, that's the only thing he's sort of been keeping inside him.

Oh and did anyone mention Good Kyuubi for absolutely no reason. First of all, I don't think Kyuubi will ever be nice to Naruto. But if you're going to have to do it...then please have a reason.

And not some stupid reason like "over the time Kyuubi saw what Naruto experience and began to see him as one of his own". I'd prefer to actually see the development of that relationship, but eh, it doesn't always fit the timeline of some stories.

I can understand a "Good" kyuubi..."helping" Naruto out by offering his chakra...but of course that's not without risk. Or a Kyuubi who will help Naruto out but not out of the goodness of his nonexistant heart, but for his own interests. Or Kyuubi helping Naruto out when their interests intersect.
