If she did that, we'd fall back to what Chiyo said back when she gave her farewell to Sakura and Naruto. Shikamaru isn't someone I would consider precious. IMO, people like Tsunade, Ino, Shizune and of course Naruto would be precious. I do feel like Ino one ups the other rookie 9.

But if she uses it on anyone, it'd likely be Naruto. I feel Karin could save Shikamaru by letting him bite her. That'd be more effective.

Karin's bite is on cooldown from Tsunade. Only person she'd let bite her right now is Sasuke and even then probably not because it'll suck the life out of her.

Only people who can help him right now and Sakura, Tsunade and Shizune.

I don't know if this has been mentioned but Sakura watched Grandma Chiyo use her jutsu to swap her life for Gaara's. What are the odds of Sakura doing the same thing for Shikamaru?

If Sakura swaps her life for someone else, I don't think it's going to be Shikamaru. As a person, she's willing to do that cause Shikamaru is her friend, but this can happen once and it would be for Naruto.

 

It's possible that Naruto by the end of the fight will be down and not moving cause of an attack that he delivered in the end or something else. Then Sakura will think he's dead or his life is at its end and she'll do this technique or something close to it.

But, Sakura wanting to help Naruto in this occasion won't swap her life cause if she did that, she'll die permanently and that won't happen in the manga. I think it will be her doing a technique close to Chiyo's technique, or just her trying everything she can to save him.

Of course not the next chapter. I think like chapter 7 or 8 of this volume and that if Obito died alone not along with Madara. If both him and Madara died together then I think it will be till chapter 9 or just till the beginning of chapter 10 like 10 pages. The latter, just till the beginning of chapter 10, if Kishi did start showing what Sasuke will do after the fight has ended or Naruto being badly injured or something else.

Karin is a different type of healer. She replenishs chakra at a faster rate than Sakura and at the moment, it seems as though that's what heneeds most. If people think Karin would be a better medic or even suggest it, they're obviously trolls/haters amd shouldn't be taken seriously. Sakura just recently healed several nin with no problem. Nuff said.

I think Karin's healing abilities depends on who she heals. She healed Tsunade with little effort because well..it's Tsunade.

Temari doesn't know this technique. She's not a professional at least in healing. I think saving Shikamaru is Sakura's challenge now. Possibly Tsunade will help her, but not in the way she'll leave it to Tsunade and her just watching Tsunade. Only if she interferes in the battle, and that also I don't think it can happen while Shikamru is in this state cause she's showing that she wants to be capable in any way she can to save him.

 

By the way, friends are precious, but of course close friends and more are more precious.

I'll give 2-3 chapters to figure out the main focus/theme of this volume. It took a while to know that the last one was Minato/Naruto/Obito volume. So we'll see here.

I believe that if Shikamaru lives, it will be because of Sakura, that's what the scene is set up for. And I don't think she'll use Chiyo's jutsu, for one I don't think it's any sort of medical jutsu, it was meant to bring puppets to life, so it seems unlikely that Sakura could perform it.

Well we'll find out the purpose of Shikamaru being in dying state. Is it there just to revive and nothing else (doubt it)? Is there a purpose? If so, what is? I guess we'll know in the next chapter.

Tsunade has survived so much hell that I'm thinking that Kishi wants her to stick around. 

 

I wouldn't be surprised if the Shikamaru situation was dealt with near the end of this volume. Kishi is moving forward...and a slugs pace hahaha.

Tsunade won't be in a serious death situation anymore. Her cut in half was the peak of surviving in this manga.

But Chiyo's technique isn't a healing technique, it's a soul swap, and it's rooted in puppet mastery.  Sakura could use a modified version of the technique (after doing a ton of research), but I don't think we can say that she learned the technique through observations.  I actually think it would make more sense for Kankurou to know how to use the technique since he's a puppet master, or for Kakashi to be able to perform it because he was watching with the Sharingan and he is the copy ninja.

In the panels depicting the Kages as they were traveling to the battlefield on Gaara's sand platforms we could only see a smaller slug traveling with them. Evidently, all of the larger portions that were summoned to heal the Kages were left behind or they were desummoned. Tsunade appeared at the end of #648 without Katsuyu on her shoulder. So unless Katsuyu is hidden away for whatever reason then it probably was called back to Shikkotsu Forest moments before they arrived. 

 

What's odd is that Katsuyu was still perched on Tsunade's shoulder during the middle of Hashirama's flashback in this recent chapter. There couldn't have been an interval longer than a minute or two between that scene and when they arrived.
