@Syn11:

How do know the hug didn't make him think? Maybe it did. But then shortly after he sees Sakura start crying over Sasuke being in the Akatsuki and when Karui asked what Sasuke meant to her, she stuttered and started with "I ...I" ("I love him" possibly?) Then Naruto looked sad and hurt, as if it just confirmed something a part of him had been starting to hope changed. IMO that's what I think made him completely extinguish a small hope she might like him instead of Sasuke. I can't totally blame him.

Naruto is just deeply insecure about Sakura's affections. It's been like this ever since the POAL, which practically burned this image of Sakura's everlasting love for Sasuke. It isn't entirely his fault for not thinking she likes him. The situations have been bad. Naruto hasn't seen anything. And Sakura does not help matters, always crying in front of him about Sasuke, especially in 693 where she literally made a confession in front of him (which it was platonic or not, Naruto will see it as romantic).

But it does make me wonder what's gonna happen when Naruto confesses to Sakura. I wonder what he expects to get from it since he thinks she still loves Sasuke so much.

With everything that's been happening... He might not even do it anymore. I hope he does, but I don't know if it's possible after everything...

What if... the message Kishi's been trying to tell us this whole time is that Sakura will always love Sasuke forever romantically? Like it's a permanent thing in her character. I don't like seeing it that way, neither do any of us, especially since a lot of things have hinted otherwise... but what if we've been seeing it wrong the whole time? What if her feelings for Sasuke got "stronger" and more "mature"? What if her feelings for Naruto were just "strong friendship"? It makes no sense right? I don't get what Kishi is trying to tell us. It's like he's telling us two different things at once.

Why do people NOT ship these two? I just don't get it.

Probably cause they hate Sakura. When she's probably the most developed female character in the whole show.

I respect Hinata, but Sakura deserves some too.

If only Kishimoto showed us Naruto's doubts in the first place (a hint of doubt would have sufficed). His sad expression may have nothing to do with his hopes being crushed.

He's just a stubborn one. Perhaps, Sakura's "love" for Sasuke is convenient to him. He's adapted to this staus quo.

If Naruto confesses to Sakura... that is. He hasn't even promised to confess after bringing back Sasuke.

I think in naruto there are no heaven or hell. Just after life.

Obito is uchiha naruto. A situation that could happen to naruto when sakura die.
The same goes with nagato and garra.
They all are naruto parallel and that's why they get tnj, because they are naruto parallel.

Sorry but no one would qualify that with she wants to save him because she's kind if her love had grown stronger. Nor would he qualify it by adding the murder attempts in the same lines. People are just insecure and I get it, kishi took this pairing stuff to the very last chapter.

Also I don't buy the idea that naruto will stop loving Sakura. That smile in 631 was an example. Jiraiya loved Tsunade till the end. Obito loved Rin even after she died. Naruto with all the parallels isn't all of a sudden going to break this mold.

@Iwantbuns:

Naruto will confess. That flashback with Sai was done for a reason. And there's also a reason Naruto will be the last one to do a love confession.

I have imagined a ending where Sakura still loves Sasuke and not him, but Naruto's okay with it even though he will always still love Sakura and he will never give up on returning his feelings. It puts another noble but sympathizing spin on his character just like the POAL. And to be honest ... this is the only no pairings route I can see happening with some logic.

I also have wondered that maybe Sakura is meant to be the embodiment of the theme. Bonds. Sakura will always love Sasuke romantically no matter what he does just like Naruto will always love Sasuke like a brother and that's supposed to show the power of bonds. I can see Kishimoto somehow finding that beautiful while most of us find it degrading.

But there's something wrong with these two scenarios. It's another generation of the talentless loser with unrequited love failing and being condemned to live the life of Jiraiya. And if Sakura does still love Sasuke she would be making the same mistake as Rin even though both had every reason at first to move on. This just does not fit.

Naruto is supposed to surpass his predecessors in everything. And if he didn't, the main character would not have complete success. Even if he willingly resigns himself to loving Sakura and knowing she will never return his feelings, that sends a message that every underdog who does everything for a girl will never get her. In the line of themes, this isn't a good ending.

I think 693 was supposed to be a curveball to make NS more 'surprising'. I can't tell you to have faith in Kishimoto's writing, but for me I still focus on the logic and themes of NS and I will stick with the belief he won't ignore that unless I'm proven wrong.

You're viewing it from Naruto's POV. And Naruto's POV is faulty when it comes to romance. "I don't know much about girls". That is what he stated himself in his filial parting speech. But then again, he doesn't feel that hopeless ("Sakura-chan is my... what?... girlfriend"), just confused.

Can you quote a phrase which clearly implies that Sakura will never lose romantic interest in Sasuke? I can't. Yet we have many panels showing her obvious doubts about him.

Ugh romantic feelings for Sasuke or not and kakashi implies not, I really think she's already in love with Naruto. That shocked reaction when naruto seemed to agree with Sasuke seemed to say it all. Not tobmention all the panels where her smiles are in focus and directed towards Naruto. It is as if people forgot that this was why sai could tell that Naruto loved her.

Yes. We need that confession. Sakura needs it. Sasuke too (to get those two off his neck for good).

Sakura can reperesent bonds without them being purely romantic.

I highly believe that Kishimoto's own love story went like this with his wife and someone else. I even remember in a interview Kishimoto said he had a Sasuke in his life. I highly believe it went down like this with Kishimoto and his love life lol then he eventually got her and he said he's writing this so when his kids read it they will get the message to never give up. I don't think he would leave it open ending due to this fact as well. Naruto will get his girl. Sakura/Chan gone get her dude and happiness and true love she been longing for.

See. This is exactly what I'm talking about. I know Naruto will confess, but how? When? What will come of it? It has to happen, but at the same time... It's just really confusing.

A lot of things just don't fit right. Is Kishi losing his story? Did he forget all the effort he put into these characters' development? These important parallels that have to be changed? Naruto's view of things? Heck, even Sakura's view of things? And then there's Sasuke just floating there, unaffected by everything. Things aren't connecting. What is Kishi telling us? I don't know. It's near the end of the manga, and this pairing s**t is still confusing us? What does that say about anything?

We can always have these inferences, but what will come of it, if Kishi doesn't give us anything?

tumblr_inline_miqmooGYSM1qz4rgp.gif

Why do people NOT ship these two? I just don't get it.

Probably cause they hate Sakura. When she's probably the most developed female character in the whole show.

I respect Hinata, but Sakura deserves some too.

I think you were expecting the romance to be well written when you shouldn't have. 693 was done for the sole purpose of creating a parallel to a previous chapter in part one with some differences.

I think it would be cool if we saw the interaction that they had after naruto woke up because it was skipped. Isnt it interesting how everytime an opportunity for a huge moment comes up its skipped.

Yeah that scene said alot, cause when sasuke said that to sakura she just seemed sad, but when naruto agreed it was like she got slapped or something.

@Iwantbuns:

I will always stress how much I think 693 damaged bits of Sakura's character and some of NaruSaku's credibility in the eyes of the fans, but I don't think we should give up. Kishimoto likes confusing the readers and I think 693 was a ploy for ambiguity and to give fans like SS/NH fans false hope. The same thing with how Naruto said "not everything is going the way mom wants" about finding a girl like her. That shouldn't have been ambiguous, but Kishi complicated it and now you have NH fans arguing he'll fall for a girl not like his mom. ( :facepalm:)

Don't forget Sakura's confession doesn't eliminate all the NS development quite yet. There's still more to see. And while I think we lost believable pairing writing a long time ago, this still can all be solved by Sakura letting go of Sasuke because of that violent genjutsu and realizing her feelings for Naruto during this Naruto vs. Sasuke fight. Or a forehead scene if you believe that will happen.

I don't think Kishi's losing story. I just think he's trying too hard to make all pairings look ambiguous so he can say he surprised the readers with the end pair at the end. That ruins every pairing's credibility, but he thinks it's 'smart'. And it's confusing and exhausting as kitten for us, especially those who have been with these pairing wars for 15 years.

I don't doubt NS will happen. I'm just sick of Kishimoto playing around with the pairings and ruining credibility because he thinks he's being unpredictable. He's not IMO. It's transparent to me which annoys me even more because I see all these unnecessary complications and it has absolutely no point.
