Wow, 181 pages... I ain't reading all that.

I liked this chapter but there is one thing that really bugs me, Naruto seemed to imply that he and Sasuke and fought multiple time at the VotE? It was stated that it is close to the border of the Land of Fire and I find it pretty jarring that Konoha would just let two Genin go out to the border to fight with each other, what did Jirayia and Orochimaru bring them there for sparing every few month or something?

If this has already been discussed I apologize as I said I did not read the previous 181 pages.

Well, Sasuke fought there once. Naruto fought there multiple times... cause he has all them Shadow Clone Memories. :P

It was their past marriages that fought there. Indra/Ashura and Hashirama/Madara.

It would be cool if this fight between Sasuke and Naruto becomes so devasting that Madara's and Hashirama's statues get completely obliterated and they replace them with Naruto and Sasuke's.

That would sort of destroy the whole this being the final battle

I do fully expect the statues to be destroyed this time though.

Okay, here is what I've got from the chapter, after reading all the discussions about the raw and the translations.

Sakura uses Daisuki in present tense. It means like a lot / love. It's the standard way of saying love in the Narutoverse. This is what Hinata told Naruto in front of Pain, but it's also how Kakashi sees Team7. Kishi uses it all the time because it's not final. it's like saying I love hamburgers vs I love this girl. It can be used for a simple crush or true love.

Sasuke uses ren'ai to say he and Sakura have no reason to love each other. Ren'ai is a romantic only word. He is talking about real love here.

Kakashi kinda talked him down by saying she was only there to help him and, but when he said she was suffering because of her love, he used Ai kittene / ai kitteneru. It is a very strong word, that has been only used by Kushina, toward Naruto and Minato. Even Dan didn't use it with Tsunade.

So it's kinda the opposite from what everyone got from the chapter. Sakura was more ambiguous than Sasuke and Kakashi who consider her madly in (romantic) love.

EDIT : as for the VOTE thingie, it's a mistranslation from Mangapanda. Naruto only said they went all out there instead of saying they fought often there. Try Mangastream, or Viz if you can afford it. Their translations are better.

He says she has no interest in him romantically. She wants to save him that's the whole point of everything.

Kakashi loves Sasuke as well just like Hiruzen loves Orochimaru, Nagato loves Jiraiya etc.

these are family bonds of love. Her love doesn't have to be romantic to be strong. I love my pet dog but it goes without saying i'm not interested in her in any romantic sense.

Once again, aikitteneru = selfless love in Kishimoto's context. Kakashi corrected Sasuke, he emphasized that Sakura didn't want Sasuke as a romantic partner.

This might sound random, but what was the purpose of Hashirama drawing attention to Sasuke's likeness to Indra? Kishi appeared to be highlighting this deeper connection between the two as though it might be a deciding factor in helping Madara to reevaluate himself and not go through with the Moon's Eye Plan. Nothing ever seemed to come from it though. In the end, Madara seemed to just accept grudgingly that his plans failed before dying off with Hashirama.

Edit: Forgot his name was Izuna.

I would like to believe you, but that's not the context I got. Unless you mean Hinata's love / crush was not selfless, and neither was Dan's ?

As far as I know, Kushina used to have the monopoly on that word. She is the context.

He says she has no interest in him romantically. She wants to save him that's the whole point of everything.

No, he merely says he has no reason to love her romantically and she has no reason to lover him romantically. Kakashi then says there is no need for a reason. That line concerns them both.

For the rest of the post, yes, that would be the case if Kakashi kept using Sakura's daisuki. Neither he or Sasuke did. They specifically chose to use romantic words. Kishi used 3 differents for love in this chapter. It was not without a reason.

I think that was just Kishi's way of trying to explain lazy design ideas, he couldn't think of a unique look for madara's brother so he just duplicated Sasuke's design, he knew it was lazy so he decided to atleast call attention to their appearances with this little reference.

Remember several months ago when people thought Sasuke was going to TNJ Madara? lol

He indeed said she didn't talk to him to become his woman, but he also said her true deep romantic love was making her suffer. All the words are important, unfortunately. We can't cut half the sentences for the sake of our ship.

Which we aren't doing. You're making an assumption that it was romantic.....especially after chapter 675 where he specifically said she wasn't interested in him romantically.

Darn it! I meant Izuna, Madara's brother (these Uchiha names sound so alike in my mind). Kishi must have originally intended for the connection to have some importance if he was packaging it with an unknown jutsu from the God of Shinobi and a personal plea to reach through Madara's hardened exterior and bring out the compassionate man that he once was (as Hashirama put it iirc).

It's not an assumption, it's a fact they specifically used romantic words !

That's what I am trying to say since the beginning. If Kishi had used daisuki like usual, there would be no discussion, but here, he chose, for the first time, to specifically use romantic words to describe her feelings.

It is actually a huge assumption when Kaksahi flat out corrected Sasuke about it not being romantic.

Once again, Kakashi didn't say it was not romantic, he only said Sakura was trying to save Sasuke rather than trying gain a boyfriend. And that she wanted to save him because she loved him so very much romantically.

Exactly she just wants to save him she isn't interested in being his....

If she's not interested in being his, she's not interested in being with him, if she's not interested in being with him then how is it romantic at all? Then there's also Kakashi's words in 675 where he describes her love for Sasuke in the past tense...
