anti-Hinata
Everyone be like "OH SHE'S BEEN WITH NARUTO SINCE THE BEGINNING!" No she hasn't! She watched him suffer and work at bettering himself. What did she do for him? Oh she fed off his determination because she wanted to be a stronger person, though I don't think she actually worked on that until years later. This is a big deal because the loneliness Naruto endured as a child is a defining character trait. Thats why bonds means so much to him; Thats why Sasuke and Team 7 meant so much to him. If Hinata had been a part of Narutos life then we wouldnt have had to wait until the Chunin Exam arc to know she even existed. If she had any meaning in Narutos life, he wouldnt have introduced her as a weirdo.
The reason why Naruto had such an indifferent reaction during Hinata's intro is because theyd only had a parasitic relationship in which she benefited from his suffering and gave nothing back. "OH BY SHE WAS SHY!" people say. Bull. That just means shyness alone was enough to choke this pure, amazing, unconditional love she had for him. Yet it seems even Kishimoto takes pity on Hinata. Even he believes Hinata deserves Naruto because shes some kind of hipster love interest that thought he was cool before anyone else did even though she didnt even bother with him until others started noticing. Personally, I think this just objectifies the protagonist into a prize for a side character. A side character who, for whatever reason, is having her will catered to while Narutos feelings dont really matter.
And I hate Hinatas relationship with Naruto because it pales in comparison to other relationships in the manga. First of all, I just want to throw out there that Hinata and Narutohave only interacted in about 15 chapters within a 700 chapter series. Most other moments consist of Hinata thinking of Naruto and, in rare cases, him returning the favor. Every time it was something dramatic in which they were only in close proximity because of ninja business. Never have they had a truly casual interaction. Its reasonable to assume theyve never even talked outside of ninja business. Just keep that in mind always, because I honestly dont know if Hinata knows much about Naruto apart from what she idolizes about him. Moving on, I just want to say ahead of time I am not a shipper of Naruto and Sakura. They were never romantic, whoop-de-freaking-do. I do, however, brotp the crap out of them so I obviously think their dynamic is better. One might say OH BUT HINATA ALWAYS BELIEVED IN NARUTO AND SAKURA DIDNT! Is that the case? Is that really the case? Im not saying Hinata doesnt believe in him but she worries too much by comparison. Maybe because she doesnt know much about him to begin with. Sakura grew to really respect Naruto as a ninja and appreciate him as a person. She supported Naruto throughout the Sasuke fiasco and she supported his dreamthroughout the series. Hinata supports and adopts everything about Naruto like the good little Naru-follower she is. Im not saying she wouldnt support his dream but you wouldnt get that from the manga. Heck, even in Tsunades perfect world Dan was hokage because she knew that was his dream. What does Hinata dream about? Oh yea, herhaving Naruto. Shes so selfish and single-minded to the point thats all it is with him. All she wants is him by her side, she doesnt really have any other aspirations for herself or even for him. Sakuras a different story because she knows how much bonds, acknowledgment, Sasuke, and dreams mean to him. Hinata didnt support him when he was a lonely child. She didnt support him while he was dealing with Sasuke, and I dont even know if she realizes how important that bond is to him. She supported him when Neji died, but the only reason Neji died was to make him a cupid that would fix them up together. Yes, Kishi actually killed a character with actual personality just to give Hinata a bonding moment with Naruto. An atrocious and completely unnecessary step to get Hinata closer to Naruto just because Kishi couldnt do it in a more normal or natural way.
Note, I am not saying Naruto should have been paired with Sakura. I just cant with Kishi saying both Hinata and Sakura acknolwedged Naruto, but Hinata noticed first. She was more deserving of Naruto because she called dibbs. And I dont even care if all that stuff with Sakura was meant to mislead fans. Its really sad that Kishimoto would admit he never intended to really develop the NH romance and only developed the Naruto/Sakura bond to mislead fans. Like youre honestly going to to make your legit pairing pale in comparison to platonic friendships just to mislead fans? And I say "friendships" because - if you dont want to read the entire manga- one need to look no further than chapters 698-699 to see how ridiculously homoromantic Naruto and Sasukes bond was despite that not being the intention. But none of that matters so long as you totes understand that Perfect Princess Hinata-chan deserved Naruto, and deserved him more than anyone else because she's been hot for him the longest!
Hinatas also single-minded in that she only seems to really care about Naruto. She debated whether to cheer for her teammate or an idol shes hardly spoken to. She was whole-heartedly happy for Narutos victory without even a thought spared towards Kiba and Akamaru. Then she decided to give them medical cream only after giving some toNaruto. I cant remember if she ever even thought of becoming the Hyuuga head or doing something about the system that killed her uncle, tormented her cousin, and caused said cousin to hate her. That was never really resolved but the issue itself was kinda supported as Hyuuga!Branch Neji ended up dying for the sake of Hyuuga!Main Hinatas life/romance (according to Kishimoto's garbage that Dead Neji = NH Cupid). Im not sure we really saw Hinata caring about Neji until after he died, and her caring about Neji is how her and Naruto bonded over his death. Its a pretty twisted situation, really.
But in the end, Hinata shouldnt even be on my radar. Why should I care about boring pairing fodder? The answer is this girl's unreasonable popularity and how the series suffers for it. Even the animators cant get enough Hinata and shove her in our faces! They contradict canon to try and maker her seem more useful and relevant. The worst offense being Hinata's Confession. The actual chapter was hilarious but the animators wanted Hinata to have her moment. So they shoved in nonexistent flashbacks, fighting, and attempts to pull out the rods. They spent a pretty decent budget to add those scenes in with beautiful animation, which is probably why the Pein vs Naruto fight that happened immediately after has some of the most laughable shots of all time. A true tragedy since that was an important fight. Pein killed Narutos teacher/father figure, destroyed his villages, killed many people, killed his friends, and even killed a friend right in front of him. Their fight was a big deal while Hinatas confession wasnt really a big deal. How could it have been since Naruto all but ignored it for 5 years despite having plenty of opportunity to talk to her?
That was stupid, but not quite as much as the The Last. That movie marks Hinatas official promotion to main character status. It marks her supplanting the original heroine, Sakura. In it shes given a godlike power-up, which is something Sakura should have been given along with her fellow teammates/main characters. In the movie she's considered Naruto's yin/soulmate/whatever when by all means is something Sasuke and Naruto practically already are. And their soulmateness is symbolized through a scarf that's never seen in the manga. Whats a side character to get stuff like this? Not to mention that ridiculous genjutsu flashback in which Naruto and Hinata are shown growing up together in bubbles. I realize this is just a genjutsu but it implies that Hinata had been with Naruto throughout the course of his growth, which simply isnt true. As I said before, she might have thought he was cool before anyone else but he wasnt there for him when he had no one. Naruto also gets reduced to some jackass who only pursues girls who are pursued, doesnt care so much about his other bonds, and needs to be talked into saving the supposed love of his life. This is the guy who spent the majority of the series sacrificing his mental and physical health to chase after a guy who didnt want to be saved. It's no surprise many Japanese fans are calling Naruto the worst scumbag.
And is it true Naruto mistook Hinatas confession to mean she liked him the same way he liked ramen? I ask because it really is so hard to believe. Naruto might be stupid but he is fairly insightful when it comes to emotions. This misunderstanding makes him out to be some kind of emotional retard which isn't true. And you would absolutely have to be an emotional retard to mistake Hinatas confession. So bravo, more ways of tearing down Narutos character just so Hinata can snatch him. Furthermore on the topic of character degration is the unfathomable concept of Sakura getting demoted from her heroine status because of Hinata. Kishimoto admitted the reason he didnt flesh out Sakuras character is because she wasnt as popular as Hinata, which is the reason he decided to make her the new heroine to begin with. So this guy, instead of bettering his own heroine, decides to appeal to the masses by replacing her with a side character that's less developed than antagonist and several other side characters. Its pathetic.
Hinata deserved nothing yet gained everything just because she's an unreasonably beloved character that everyone pitied. This gain is something she got at the cost of other characters and even the quality of the series. Its disgusting.

Ermm..I actually didn't like it. The person sounds like a whiny Hinata hater who needs to STFU.
I don't hate Hinata's relationship with Naruto and how she looks up to him. He does give her confidence--almost every character in Naruto is changed by him in someway. I dislike how NH was never developed from Naruto's side and how it became canon over NS which had requited development. And also how NH makes Sakura look bad.
