As Iris said, does he even care by this point? He's already pandered to the NH/SS and otaku fandoms. This movie is a financial "success" so there's no concern over money. Whatever the disgruntled masses might say is irrelevant at this point.

But the careless way he ended the manga, the way he allowed the movie to butcher every character and every aspect of his manga, his inconsistent interviews... all tell something else.

Cause its his name that'll always be associated with Naruto. If its successful he gets the praise and if its horrible he gets the blame. Its his reputation that's on the line.

But that's the thing isn't it ? Everything about the ending and the movie was so spectacularly bad that he will surely lose atleast half of his fans. Wasn't it announced that he will indeed write novels and part 3 too..?
