We have about 10 chapters left and Kishi's been playing this fight up since the beginning.

 

We still need to have Kakashi becoming hokage, people being released from the IT, etc.

people being released from IT doesn't really need that many pages to be dealt with. And tbh, I don't think they need to go that far into detail for having Kakashi become Kage either. They've already shown beforehand that he had the capacity (what with him being thought of prior to Danzo stepping up) Kishi could easily handle that with a small timeskip after dealing with more important things. The only thing he really needs to wrap up is what's going to happen to the alliance once everything's said and done. After that's been dealt with, timeskip to a inauguration ceremony where Kakashi takes the hat. Naruto monologues about everything that's changed over the past few months/weeks/however long its been, and talks about things he still plans on doing.

 

Rest could be handled in movie.

 

*Probably won't happen that way, but I could see it be done like that.

It's bad don't do it.

Nadia and the secret of blue water is better. Even if Nadia is an annoying teen. She's still way better than Shinji. Man, I hate him.

 

That's the thing. Kishi doesn't rush which is something that I actually like about him....have you read 666 Satan great story but by god the entire third act was so rushed in nearly destroys the likability of the whole manga, the depressing ending doesn't help either. Wanna know how it ends?

We spent two chapters revolving around people getting stuck, 3 around IT just getting started. I don't think its going to be wrapped up in just a few pages. No matter how you slice it, the series isn't going to end in 10 chapters it would be too rushed especielly with how much Kishi loves to take his time with this..

This is a very important post to me, so if you read it and give your opinion, I would appreciate it a lot.
 
I am glad that overall mood has changed because of the RAWs. I was so angry at first, you might remember my posts here. But I've tried to think about this chapter from a different perspective, I tried to find an answer to why Kishi decided to move the plot in this direction. And I actually found one point of view that made sense, that opened to me how beautiful Sakura was in this chapter.
And then the RAWs and Viz came out in a couple of days and strengthened my ideas.
 
I know that a lot of us still think that:
- Sakura’s character somewhat regressed in this chapter.
- Kishimoto has contradicted himself about Sakura's feelings;
- Sakura has no reasons to still love Sasuke and it is strange to see her confess;
- her determined face didn’t match what happened next;
- she still doesn’t see Sasuke for what he truly is;
- Sasuke has mistreated her badly, so it was about time for her to give him a piece of her mind about that;
- Sakura has made a promise to Naruto to bring Sasuke home together and it didn’t happen (and only can in the future) and etc.
 
I don’t think that anymore.

First of all, I do accept that Sakura's confession to Sasuke was very honest. It wasn't her delusion. I do think that this is a new type of love, that is deeper and more personality-oriented, that cherishes Team 7 past more than anything else, but is still love in full sense of the word, as well as romantic. 
 
But I argue that Sakura’s actions in 693 were truly heroic and consistent with her development in 700 chapters. My main point is that Sakura’s unreasonable declaration of love to Sasuke is a manifestation of one of her main strength as a character and as a heroine.
 
Here is why:
 

Why Sakura amazed me

It all has to do with a simple statement made by Kishimoto. He said that during her fake confession to Naruto he wanted to picture Sakura as a heroine, a very honest and very stubborn girl. You know, I never doubted that Sakura’s fake confession to Naruto was a gigantic NS moment, even though Naruto got angry at her. I loved how he saw right through her and didn’t let her to go down that road, because it showed how interested he was in her as a person, how closely he watched her and how he was of such a high opinion of her. Only a person that truly loves can be so perceptive and can become so angry at the other person  in an instant for things that are more confusing than damaging. He couldn’t tolerate a single moment of her not being true to her amazing character. It was more of Naruto’s confession than Sakura’s in my point of view. I reread that moment so many times.

The point is, during her confession to Naruto Sakura was trying to portray herself as a woman who can give up on someone, who’s heart is “as changeable as autumn sky”. And this is a complete LIE about her character, and more than that – a blow to what both Naruto and Kishimoto see as her main good attribute – her stubborn dedication. Naruto didn’t know why Sakura was doing it, so he couldn’t see that this act of self-humiliation was pure dedication from Sakura’s part. To him. Yes, Sakura has a very low opinion of herself, she struggles to see good qualities in herself, so she portrayed herself as shallow and changeable. She doesn’t see herself through Naruto’s eyes, so she completely missed him with that confession.

But why was Sakura honest?  If I were to describe the most obvious traits of Sakura as a heroine, it is her ability to put everything on the line to help her comrades, it is also her desperation to correct all her mistakes and to grow. Her constant crying, so despised by many haters, is not really a sign of weakness. It is more of what a heroine has to offer to her comrades (not that it is the only thing, but it is a unique thing). Kishimoto has shown numerous times how tears are not only a sign of Sakura being emotional, it is also her “investment” – she sheds tears for her comrades and that is the form of supporting them, the form of transferring energy to them. She feels for them strongly and that is what matters the most. (When her "emotions" are not needed by her comrades, she doesn't cry, like when Naruto almost died.)

I believe that 469 and further  chapters have shown us how far this stubborn girl is willing to go in her honest dedication to her precious ones, both Naruto and Sasuke. It all looked ugly at times, but it was actually showing her as a heroine at her finest – it showed the strength of her feelings that she was ready to transform in the ugliest of actions to help her loved ones.

Just like that I think that in the 693 we witnessed Sakura at her finest – the truly stubborn and honest girl we all came to love. If you think about it, there is a big reason for Sakura to love Sasuke – despite his abuse, attempted murders and cruelty. This reason is simple – Sasuke needs her love. Yes, he needs her love to come back.

Sasuke is going farther and farther away. He is almost lost completely. The few things that still connect him to his former self are Naruto, Sakura and Team 7 as a whole. I believe that he could have lost those connections long ago. But he didn’t, because Naruto and Sakura didn’t let him. No matter what he does, they both see the possibility for him to come back, they continue to love him and want him back. If they didn’t, there would actually be no possibility for it to happen. That is just being stubborn. Their dedication seems delusional and unbelievable, but that is what makes it so powerful. If Sakura and Naruto don’t give up on Sasuke no matter what he does, if they still see him as he was and could be, Sasuke himself can’t let go of them completely, can’t forget them and who he was. Until they give up on him, he can’t completely give up on himself either. I strongly believe that this is how both Naruto and Sakura feel. By their own feelings and dedication they keep the road for Sasuke’s return from crumbling.

And that is the reason why Sakura still loves Sasuke. If Naruto’s way to help Sasuke is through understanding and combat, Sakura’s way to help Sasuke is to offer him her unconditional love. I believe that this is the reason why Sasuke said  something along “that’s chains of the past she is feeling”. I agree with Sasuke. Sakura may feel that through her love, just by offering it to him, she connects to the part of him that is associated with unconditional love. And keeps it alive. Sasuke doesn’t believe in love anymore, but he can’t disregard it completely as long as Sakura continues to feel that way (honestly feel that way!) and declare it to him.

That is why I think that Sakura made an unbelievably heroic gesture in 693. She was completely lost, she didn’t see any signs of former Sasuke left. That face she made that was repeated several times was her not being able to recognize former Sasuke any more. How could she feel anything for him at that moment? I bet she asked that herself.

And then she cried. She cried for him in determination. Her tears are her true emotions, her decision to feel something for him and give him her feelings. Her determined face was the determination to continue feeling something for him, because she decided and promised to help him. If she were to give up on her love, if she were to tell him how cruel and abusive he was, she would sever one of the biggest links of Sasuke to his former self – the reality of unconditional love. So she cried for him and confessed. And even if Sasuke acted so cruely by “killing’ her, he can’t forget her words and when Naruto cracks him open, this action from Sakura will resurface and help Naruto bring Sasuke back. She knew she will get hurt, but she did it anyway. How heroic is that?

She remembered that moment when Sasuke thanked her, because at that moment she understood that he needed what she felt for him. Not in a romantic sense, not because he loves her romantically, but because her love connects him to his former self, to the unconditional love he had in his family. As a truly stubborn girl that she is she took that burden upon herself.
If this is how Kishimoto thinks and wants to portray her, then I think that Sakura was shining in this chapter.  She was beautiful.

Just like that I believe that Sakura will love Sasuke until he returns to them. She won't attack him, she won't hate him when she wakes up. This is my bet.

I agree with everything EXCEPT calling Sakura's confession to Naruto fake or referring to it as a "fake confession." It wasn't fake and I am tired of people saying it was. Otherwise, I might as well say that this confession to Sasuke was fake as a means to use Sasuke and tempt him to come back.

Interviewer: "Because of this, she acted quite haughty towards that guy. She used Naruto’s love for her and told him she loved him."

Kishimoto: "On the contrary…. I felt like depicting an honest girl, with a surprisingly stubborn impression.”

The interviewer brought up that specifically and Kishimoto refuted it.

I agree with James. I've never called it a fake confession. I think of it more as her botched confession.

Some post here made me feel MUCH MUCH better.   As I said, I still believe in NS, it was just that Sakura saying she still loves Sasuke kind of skewered my perspective in that if she still loves Sasuke, after all this time then it would create a tear to  her character in regards to her relationship to Naruto. I've always said that I was perfectly fine if Sakura still loved Sasuke, cause that is part of her character and that it won't change, but what I wanted was for her and Naruto admit their feelings for each other, but it hasn't happened. It's because it hasn't happened many fans, especially cynical people like me got upset. It's not because she loves Sasuke, but the fact that she did not elaborate her feelings for Naruto that made it seem bad. It's this incredibly dodgy perspective on her feelings for Naruto, not the fact that she still loves Sasuke that created all the drama, for me at least. I'm sure that If Sakura's feelings for Naruto were not left so ambiguous, her admitting that she loves Sasuke even now would have been much more acceptable to many I'm sure. Anyway thanks for lifting my spirits guys.         
 

What is so wrong about falling in love two times. If Naruto does end up with Sakura, i wouldn't think of Naruto as the second guy. Tbh, I've fallen in love twice two. As a matter of fact, I'm still with that guy today. Does this mean that I'm just using him as a replacement? I don't get whats so bad about it? You make it seem like a huge deal. My father has fallen in love twice, and he's still with my mother to this day. You're insulting everyone out there who has fallen in love twice. (Atleast your insulting me.)

Of course people fall in love more than once, but if you are constantly thinking about the person you loved first how they broke your heart, etc etc. then it looks bad for you and the other person doesn't it? That is when it looks like the second love is a replacement. That is not to say your first love should be forgotten, cause that would be just as shallow, but if you can't move on from your first, your second can't bloom, or develop. By moving on, again I don't mean forgetting your first love, but understanding your second is special to you too and that they are who you want to be with.

Remember how you asked "Why wasn't the bench scene brought up?" It's the same concept, nothing was answered really. It just gave Sakura a distorted impression that Sasuke  may have liked her.

Well my friend, the main reason why people don't get that point, is because again nothing was elaborated upon. If the conversation flowed like this:

 

Naruto: "I hate people who lie to themselves. You have not given up on Sasuke Sakura-chan."

 

Sakura admits it but also admits that her confession to Naruto wasn't a lie, then there would be no reason to assume that it is fake. the confusion lies with how the conversation was executed and lack of a straight answer rather than the conversation itself.

If there is a confusion, then you don't immediately jump to "it all must be fake." Otherwise, like I said, this chapter was of confusion and I could easily say "Well, Sakura's confession to Sasuke was fake. Hell, you all say she lied to Naruto before, why can't she lie to Sasuke too?"

I think that is what I hate most about this forum sometimes. People want to play safe and admit confusion, but instead of playing neutral they all automatically jump on the "it must be bad" kind of thing. Just because we're confused doesn't mean it is automatically negative.
 

This is what I feel like sometimes. If we end up confused then we automatically must assume that it is all Anti-NS?

I agree with the people saying that the confession was not fake.

 

I believe that we have already established that a few hundred pages back or maybe that was in the last thread. Sakura was serious until she got to the part about just flipping from Sasuke to Naruto. Naruto being obsessed with the idea that Sakura will always love Sasuke, straight up told her to stop lying.

 

The romance sub-plot has been handled very poorly.
