I still think its too soon for the PS4 I can only see the platform been release by the end of the year (Decemeber or maybe January 2015). There are still too many games for the PS3 that are still been release and many more that are schedule to be release on spring summer, fall and even winter. Why bring a new platform when the previous one is still doing well and sales are decent enough? I know they have a competition with Microsoft (Nintendo is off the list since they pretty much screw up with the Wii U, the 3DS is the only thing that is keeping the company with a good reputation). Microsoft still hasn't given any confirmation for the new Xbox so that platform probably won't be release till next year.

The systems are extremely outdated, we probably won't see the actual release of the next consoles until next year but with how old these consoles are and games have already been hitting the limit for them developers are surely wanting to be able to do more as well. Yes, games are still being released but it doesn't really matter, the PS2 was still having games released for it years after the PS3 had already been out. The point of making a new system will be for the people who will want because Sony knows they'll buy it and for the ones who think it's too early to get a new console or too costly, well that's why they'll still be marketing the PS3 for a few extra years anyway.

I think it's well at the point where new consoles need to be announced, the limits of the current ones are bothersome to me.

As long as there's backwards compatibility to the PS3 and it's under 700 bucks, I'm fine with whatever they do to the PS4... unless those rumors of locking out Used Games is true....

Although, I don't understand the limits thing that you talked about.... Graphics-wise? I dunno, graphics never really bothered me when playing games.

No, processing wise more or less. Games could become so much more and I don't mean graphics wise, more data being able to be processed could lead to larger scaled worlds or areas with more characters, background objects and actions happening that can affect the game itself.

There's a lot more to upgrading a console besides it's graphics capacity.

Also, it better have PS3 backwards capability.

They ditched the cell processor, and that's what the discs run on. Using the disc just saves you from buying it again digitally. The disc thing is a rumor also, you might have no choice but to buy the games digitally. They killed BC for the PS3 to lower the cost, and they are going to do it again. Price was the problem last time, so they are going to axe whatever they can get away with to make it cheaper. Nextbox will most likely do the same.

I suspect not, it'll be the 4th generation, but I'm hoping they call it Orbis. (The code name for the project)

I'm definitely curious about what Sony will reveal tonight, and will be reading all about it tomorrow morning.

I don't plan to buy a PS4, but the new tech (if any) will be interesting, and I will also be hoping it forces Nintendo to up their game with the Wii U in terms of price and games.
