It shows that whatever the reason to make SS and NH canon, it was a bad and awkward "last-minute" decision that ruined a lot of great things and made the ending inconsistent with the rest of the author's work. To me there is no doubt that this ending was made separately from the rest of the series, only to justify the movie and overall please the managers with the plaint "you wanted, I gave it to you". I don't see any effort Kishi has made to really support NH and especially SS in the manga, up until chapter 699. To me it is proof enough that he didn't care to justify bad decisions even if that made his last chapters seem OOC. And thus I can freely consider this manga finished to me in the middle of chapter 699. I've already rewritten the ending (in russian) and it works perfectly with the rest of the manga in my eyes, because NS was a pretty smooth ride imho.
I think that nothing can revive my hope that NS can become canon now and I felt that this beautiful theory was more focused on why NS was meant to be canon and why author actually supported it till the very end, rather than on proving that NS has a fighting chance. I am sorry, this is just my perception and I assure you that it still meant A WORLD to me and was worth every second that I waited for it. But in terms of accepting 700 as an illusion - I am not saying that your arguments were wrong, I just didn't get enough. I felt that most of the theory was written in the old tradition of explaining why NS makes sense and is intended. You know, the one tradintion that kept us going so optimistically before the apocalypse. To me there is no doubt in the statement "NS was meant to be", but it still didn't make the author stick to his convictions it seems. Frankly what I longed for was an explanation not of NS potency, but of whether 700 really made no sense, really had some serious contradictions that cannot be explained by simple preferences (like mine, for example: "I wanted all kunoichi to look strong in the end"). I wanted to see more justification that chapter 700 was OOC and strange and that there is a real chance that it is an illusion. This is the piece that I myself lack to still consider NS possible. You made a lot of great arguments, but also focused very little on the contents of chapter 700, though I guess you can say that it was discussed a lot.
Your theory has made me swallow a tear, because it reminded me of how betrayed we are, how robbed we are. No other pairing could be even closely as robbed as we are now. I feel so baited it ruins me.
You are right about everything, Chatte - NS was a fated relationship.
There is this one panel that will forever be an author's confession to me.

I think it is a very simple confession that resonates with what Naruto told his father before he disappeared: "Not everything is going the way mom told me".
You could say that it is ok, it is not like we see a ton of empty bottles or a thousand of empty ramen cups on the table, but to me it speaks a lot. In my eyes Kishi made this panel to show that he gave up on MinaKushi parallel, not just in pairings - he gave up on Kushina's last words in general. And that he is sorry, yes he says sorry, because he doesn't hide it, but acknowledges it. 700 is the world where the author gave up on a lot of content he himself established.
