Thank you, I read the other post. I don't need a retelling. However, Mangapanda speaks the same as Viz and it held the same message that Viz is telling. Seems to me the only one that is biased is Mangastream. Mangapanda is not always the cleanest, but they have been the most reliable out of all the ones I have seen. No one is perfect, but I rather stick to the one than jump from one to the other until I get the translation I want her hear whether right or wrong. Whatever reason you all have.
Anyway, the context is not lost in the MP version.
Viz is accurate once and all of a sudden some here are saying it is the end all and be all of knowledge? Whatever. Still sticking to Mangapanda if it is all the same to you. Like I said time and time again, it has been the one most reliable.
By the way, to some people, you take words too literally sometimes.

Yeah, I'm not saying we should stick to Viz from now on as the official canon and ignore MP or anything. I'm just saying in this one instance it's closer to the actual raw from Kishi than MP or MS.
Either way we won't really know the context of everything until the next chapters, so it doesn't really matter which we use (besides MS since it's literally the exact opposite of the raw). No offense meant.
Edit: I agree with the Anakin and Obi Wan reference too.

After the release of the RAWS, I feel better now. I'm still confused about what we're supposed to believe about the chapter on some level ... once again, Kishi goes to extreme lengths to make it up for interpretation.  But I think I understand a little more.

 

Sakura did say she loves Sasuke. And unfortunately since she used 'daisuki', I'm not easily swayed to make it a platonic angle. IMO Sakura still has feelings for Sasuke. But she just thinks she's in love with Sasuke. Looking back on the raws I think Kakashi meant Sakura loves Sasuke in a Team 7 way at the heart (though it is strange he used love ... it's definitely debatable). That goes in line with his monologue in 675 and Sasuke's image of family. So in 693, SS is only still alive in Sakura's mind. She hasn't realized she doesn't love him, but she probably does have lingering feelings for him.

 

Not much is changed for me actually. I'm still a bit annoyed by Sakura confessing and the damage it did to her character, but for the former it's more of how much I didn't expect it. I admit ... I thought she was more evolved than that by now.

 

What I'm most worried about is Naruto. He's going to create another NS roadblock, I just know it. It still won't be easy for him to believe Sakura loves him and loves him the most after this. Let's hope Kishi doesn't screw this up.

Kakashi confirmed that she has no interest being with Sasuke romantically so i do think she loves him but she isn't in love with him.

About translations. I am a translator myself (semi-professional, it's my extra earning), so I know the basic pitfalls. Any translator is a mediator, thus the original text goes through three major transformations: 1-input (the translator reads the original and makes a mental concept of it... he interprets it), output (the translator delivers this concept through the means of another language), and 2-input (the reader makes his own concept out of the translator's concept). It's difficult to escape garble because of interdependency: if you make a mistake at the first stage... it will mess up the third stage. The translator needs to excel at both languages in order to act as a clean glass isntead of muddy waters.

 

Apparently, MP face problems when it comes to output. That is what you'd expect from a team of hasty amateurs. )

MS is not so good at 1-input (we don't know their level of Japanese... they may also lack attention like MP team) and output (they fail to find a compromise between the Japanese original and adaptation into English... they are too loose). These people are probably amateurs who like to appear as something more. =)

In the case of VIZ  it's hard to tell, but they may be trying to copy Kishimoto's ambiguos style and at the same time they can be more blunt... all this on purpose or not, so the output is distorted by that purpose (appeal to the fanbase) or... translator's negligence. Although, I highly doubt they rush like MP and MS. 

 

That is why each of you should be aware... you're not reading Kishimoto's manga, but its different interpretations. And if the translator doesn't thoughtfully analyse Kishimoto's manga (its themes, characters, speech/language patterns, etc.), there you go: another poor interpretation is born.

Agreed. As far as "dai suki" I'm pretty sure it can mean anything from "I love you so much" to "I really like this cheeseburger". So considering Sasuke thinking it's romantic, Kakashi correcting that she doesn't want to be with him, and then Sasuke thinking of his family, it seems like it was meant to show she loves him the same way Naruto and Kakashi do. She just wants to save her friend, not be his girlfriend. She was trying to stop him from killing Naruto and taking over the world, not confess her undying love.

Isn't daisuki really an awkward thing to say to someone you don't love romantically, though? Like if you told a friend "I'm in love with you" in English? Hmm. It's the ai suru part that gets to me. Seems way too strong of a word to use for any feelings Sakura would have for Sasuke. Eh.

Agreed James. MP has been the most consistent and reliable translation. MP's translation is very rarely accused of being inaccurate and biased when compared to Viz's translation, even on this website. 

 

Anyway, all translations are a little bit confusing this chapter but MP's seems to be the least confusing.  Atleast..that's what I think.

In therms of being closest to the RAW and what 六道仙人  translated there is no mistake that this time Viz is the most accurate one . But I guess we could say that MP conveyed the true meaning of what was exactly said  that this is/was about T7/family love . Still we should give credit when its due  and this time Viz earn it  , But even with this people shouldn't think that they are the most reliable heck none of this three translation groups are , I rather trust the absolute RAW and our own translators then these three translations

 

With this being said I still say we need to wait for the follow up and not to jump to any conclusions Yet  , though that stab trough the heart doesn't indicate any good or positive for SS if anything it was the death of it imo  I'm still interested in that line of "Love turning into Hate" are we in for surprise from Sakura ? Time will tell I guess .

That's what I think also but still its better to wait for the follow up  and not jump like we did  , and I'm kittening starting to hate Trollmoto for his ambiguous kitten enough is enough we are almost at the end  .

Yeah, I know, but I don't want to spend every chapter from now on trying to pick and choose what version is the most accurate every single week. MP, for what it is worth, seems the closest to what the original always was. They have a higher success rate of getting the real meaning down. Not just with this chapter alone. That's what I am trying to say.

Yeah Viz CAN get it right, but from what I have seen, it is like a 50/50 shot. They are either right on the money or not even close.

Mangastream has always been the most biased in my opinion and have the lowest success rate out of the three. I am not sure about the others (mangabee, etc.) because I cannot view the others for some reason.

That last panel from chapter 693 of Sasuke saying he would show his true meaning of what "hokage" means reminded me too much of when Itachi would just about to start his genjutsu....

I thought genjutsu didn't work on jinchuriki who has controlled their tailed beast? Or was that case specifically only for Bee?
