I doubt there's going to be a time skip. He's written One Piece so decompressed so far, why would he suddenly compress it? Not to mention that was a conversation about one of the movies, which are not canon to the story he's writing. The way it sounds, Luffy might finally have a birthday. It's been ten years, after all. It's about time, y'know?

I like to go out and party, but I do not like drinks served in a femvase (damn fruity stuff... ew), so good ol' beer is my mate. So yeah, I'm also a psychology student, so your mind interests me.

I also think Ash Ketchum is ready for a birthday sometime soon. It must suck to be ten that long, especially after walking the world for years, meeting recently turned ten-year olds and only being older in spirit. Perhaps he's a special kind of leap-year kid?

I have never read that statement, and I frequent a couple OP-boards. Sounds a little fake to me, so I'm going to request sauce on that, or it didn't happen! ^^

A birthday would be nice, but at this rate with all the SH's still scattered I don't think it's going to be that. I do have to mention that Oda made this statement in regard to not only the movie (btw movie 10 is canon is written by Oda himself) but to the manga as well. It would be likely to see the SH's after the timeskip all powered up from their seperations.

Just because he's writing it doesn't mean it's canon. If it doesn't happen in the manga, it doesn't count. "Manga canon" is the only thing that matters in regards to manga. It's why fillers in anime don't count towards discussions.

While the Straw Hats will most likely be a lot stronger when they return, there doesn't have to be a time skip for that to happen. Remember how much stronger they got during Enies Lobby? There was no time skip there, and it had only been a few days at the most since they fought CP9 the first time. Yet they managed to defeat all of them, whereas the first time they fought, they got their butts kicked. One Piece doesn't follow normal manga logic. It follows the Rule of Awesome.

@Vyse: Ash actually had several birthdays during the course of the series. However, the last time it was even mentioned was during the short before one of the movies, way back in the god awful Johto League. As well, the directors for the anime have since said that Ash will always be ten. Probably because it makes it much less creepy for him to always be finding little girls to travel around with. If he got older and still collected them... Well, unfortunate implications doesn't begin to cover that.

One Piece 578 is out!

I like the color spread. biggrin.gif

Nice to see Crocodile show a change of heart.

I wonder if Sengoku can actually beat Blackbeard?

Forgot who that guy's name was on the last page.

Trafalgar Law is back! I almost forgot his title was "Surgeon of Death". I thought it was a title given to him by his devil fruit abilities, which allows him to cut up people and move their body parts. But I guess he's actually a doctor. One Piece. You never can tell. happy.gif

Hmm, since we've gotten back to the Saboady characters, I wonder if that means this arc is almost over. It's been fun, but I'd like something a little less intense for a while. cool.gif

Truffle,
Again, I don't read the manga. (this is because reading Naruto manga ruined my interest in the series actually...lol) I get your point here that time skip is not necessary for powerup, but it's certainly a fantastic excuse for one. I'm still bummed at why would Oda make such a strange statement if it's just for a birthday. Also, without a timeskip, there would be quite a lot loose ends to be tied up for SH reunion thay can be conveniently skipped with it. There's so much to fill up with just the few pages of cover story for the other SH's we've gotten since Saboady.

It's Shaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanks! And he has Luffy's hat! I don't know why I think that's important, but I do. I loved the way he just showed up out of nowhere. It was very surprising.

Coby was awesome this time, yelling at everyone for being idiots. He's right, too. The reason for this fight has died already. There's no more point to it. It's just about killing now.

Aikanu is, without a doubt, my single most hated character in this series. He's a complete bastard with no redeeming qualities. I mean, he's worse than the Celestial Dragons, and those guys are complete monsters!

Finally, Shanks turns up to save the day. I just want to know what happened to Luffy.
Did he break? If anyone can bring him out of his funk, it has to be Shanks.
Luffy has done well up to this point, but it seems as if Shanks is still alot stronger which means there are new levels of power for Luffy to reach before he can get to One Piece.

God damn it, this arc is CRAZY!! What's with all the super-characters turning up? Next up is Dragon, and perhaps the other 2 emperors we don't really know just yet? Too early!
Time for Shanks to teach Luffy how to use his Haki perhaps. I think that would be sweet.

It's Shanks baby, SHANKS is here!!!! now that was cool.

Wait the git just took Luffy's hat, Don't care if it's technically his but it's been on Luffy's head for over a decade, give it back....lol Actually would be funny if Shanks decides to keep it, the Mugiwari crew would be without their Mugiwara.

Bloody hell it's one thing after another, strange thing is, I still only get the feeling this Manga is less than half way through.

Another epic chapter, Oda is still giving us such gems when other writers have gone a bit stale with thier chapters, in much less time.

All the emperors were there. Only question I have, is why isn't Boa chasing Luffy. How dare Oda keep them separated.

All the Shichibukai were there, not the Four Emperors (Yonkou) were not. Whitebeard was there (obviously), and now Shanks. That makes two Emperors, and we got to see Kaidou for a little bit, but I don't count that. So two out of four Emperors have starred in this arc, and remember that we know nothing about the fourth Emperor. Blackbeard will probably take Whitebeard's spot as one of the four now.

As glad as I am to see Shanks I don't remember Luffy losing his hat, and now he's just gonna take it back? What will the Strawhat Pirates be without Luffy's Strawhat?

I wonder if Shanks with his hat that he gave Luffy back on is a sign of him taking Luffy under his wing just like WB took Ace, or Shanks is somehow connected to Dragon and made a promise with him. wow.png

He won't keep it. I'm pretty sure that after he's done making my inner fanboy squee in pure glee as I witness his awesomeness, he'll go find Luffy and return the hat. Remember that Luffy is supposed to return the hat to Shanks, not drop it on the ground for him to pick up. Shanks told him to keep the hat safe for him and return it when he has turned into a great pirate, and that was right after Luffy said he would surpass Shanks. Luffy isn't quite there yet, so his hat will stay with him for a while longer.

Have I mentioned how much I love Shanks lately? Because I do. I'd follow the man to Hell and back.

Heh, Hancock found a way to chase after Luffy. I knew she would. happy.gif

At last, the War is over. Talk about an intense experience. Man, this was a long arc. I'm kind of burned out on epic battles right now. I'd like some basic adventure again.
