Jon Stewart as Aang, Stephen Colbert as Zuko. That's the only way I see it.

@shaunama: um sure, but doncha think that the movie industry has embraced different cultures in their movies by now? look at Twilight-- the casting fit the background of the characters, for example, what's his name, Jacob. Wasn't the actor's character Indian-American? They chose the right actor for the part, he looked it.

and this... this just annoys the hell out of me. and frustrates me. and just kills the joy of ever being excited about this movie-- M. Night had a chance to make somethin HUGE out of the film, and he blows it by getting characters that don't even LOOK the part ):

and okay, sure Jackson R's face can adapt to Sokka's many different facial expressions, but the whole problem i have is that they're white.

it doesn't make sense.

for Zuko? okay sure, that makes sense, considering the Fire Nation can be based straight off Chinese people and have pale skin complexions. and hell even Toph could pass.

but Sokka and Katara? They come from Eskimo origin-- the Water Tribe are the darkest-skinned people in the whole show. for all i know they turned down so many good people for the roles. it's a slap in the face of effort. i mean seriously. how hard is it to play a fiery-tempered and caring 14 year old and a goofy, serious-in-situation 15 year old? FAWK i should've tanned up and auditioned for Katara. 3:<

also, if the casting is confirmed then they're gonna wast a crapload of time and energy on make-up. >w> i bet it's STILL gonna look bad

I totally agree with you krisk, and you're not being racist.
This has nothing to do with race. It has to do with accuracy. Water tribe people are dark skinned. The actors cast are not.

Even the television shows animators and writers are pissed off about the movie so far.

but seriously, you're right as well. B( accuracy plays a crucial part when it comes to making a 3 part movie from a CARTOON SERIES-- the acting is easy-- like i stated above the characters are easy to depict.

the most important thing that matters here, to be able to get the fans of Avatar to approve of the casting is to ENSURE that the movies have the familiarity THERE between the characters and the fans.

and it doesn't.

and yeah? i'm not surprised-- the fans are outraged at this too (ME BEING ONE OF THEM) B(

Ack! You know who I just thought of that would make a great Sokka? The korean actor Jae Hee! Not only is he tan, but he's funny too! Well, he can make funny facial expressions which is perfect for Sokka. Unfortunately he's 28 so he's on the old side and I don't think he can speak English. Bah...

Oh oh! And the korean actress Jung Ryu Won for Katara! She's tanned and she can play many different roles! Plus she can speak English! But again she's in her mid-late twenties so bah....

well tbh, i REALLY can't see Jae Hee being Sokka-- his face is just too round i think, too much of a baby fais (albeit he's a cutie, so my resolve sucked xD)

and Jung Ryu being Katara is kinda sorta seeable, it's just that when i was looking for -- um, director shots (BD) i noticed that she doesnt' really have the body for Katara.

Totally random thought that came out of nowhere... but for some reason Zachary Quinto in his role of Sylar on Heroes popped in my head as Ozai He even has the evil eyebrows going for him!

Some radio station interviewed Jesse McCartney and asked him about the Avatar film. He called avatar an anime!! Avatar is not an anime. It looks like an anime but its not an anime.

He said that he was learning martial arts for the film. Why the heck did they not cast someone who looked like the character? Why not cast someone who had prior martial arts experience for the Zuko role?

I predict that this movie will fail!
