SHE IS THE PERSON THAT HE IS HIMSELF AROUND!!! I mean, come on. He NEEDS someone who can keep up with that mischievous nature of his, and Sakura is just the girl to do it! I LOVE seeing their exchanges!! I just adore this pairing, and I love that it doesn't fit in with the normal mold. That's another thing that spurned me to like it too, actually. I'm not one of those who believe that N*****/H***** and S*****/S***** are the ONLY pairings. It's BORING. BLECH. Naru/Saku is SO much..SPICIER. FEEL THAT BURN!! WOOOT!!
And Shika/Ino is just HAWT. XD XD XD XD

"Hallelujah" and "See the Light!", eh? We sound like a religious movement!

I agree with Ash.

SasuSaku is too cold for me, and NaruHina is too... boring for me. NaruSaku is indeed quite spicy and full of energy! You can so easily imagine their life together being spontaneous and exciting as well as longlasting (because Naruto loves her and she is starting to get feelings for him).
I'll start pasting over some essays in this post (will edit later) and hide them in spoilers so that UN can look at them for his upcoming work.

Hehe, just like I always say. Yeah, and I like ShikaIno too, though ShikaTema wouldn't be bad... Well, I really don't care whoever Shikamaru chooses, as long as he stays as the cool guy he is.

All compiled for Uzumaki Naruto to help with his research.

Basic thoughts on NaruSaku/NaruHina/SasuSaku likelihood in the manga. (merged with rebuttal to Sakura_chan who likes SasuSaku)
If you will actually read the manga carefully, you'll see that Naruto and Sakura are the only relationship where there is actual build up on their feelings on both sides.
For Naruto to go with Hinata and Sakura with Lee/Sasuke would require a HUGE twist in the story. It would also mean that Kishimoto wasted a lot of ink drawing all those NaruSaku hints in the manga.
Yes, I will say that things can change. I mean, a good story has its twists!
But as it currently stands, NaruHina and SasuSaku won't happen. Naruto would need to fall out of love with Sakura (and it will take a lot to do that because he's very deeply in love) and Sasuke would have to develop deeper feelings - and there are NO hints he has those yet.
And Lee's feelings towards Sakura were too quick - they're a crush. You saw Tenten's reaction in that scene! It seems that it's not the first time Lee has done that. Right now, in the manga, he and Sakura are just firm friends.
If Naruto and Sakura had no chance of getting together, why would Kishimoto design Naruto and Sakura to be the same deep inside and have strengths that compliment each other? Why would he show them having feelings for each other and actually build upon them?
All Naruto and Hinata have had are the Neji-related scenes. Naruto just couldn't stand to see someone judging others because he knows how it feels to be judged after all those years of being seen as the demon fox by ignorant villagers. Hinata just admires Naruto for his self-belief and wishes she had that. I don't think that a love relationship would give Hinata the self-belief she needs - if anything, she would end up depending on him.
And Sakura's feelings towards Sasuke have never been returned. You'll also see that she does not act as herself around him. Because she is constantly trying to please him. That's why we see Inner Sakura around him so often. But when she is only with Naruto, Inner Sakura pops up very rarely - because she is acting like herself. I mean, when she cursed after he ruined a nice moment between them (she was thanking him for helping her against Ino, and he just went "Yeah, you're right"), she actually cursed out loud - there was no Inner Sakura cursing!
Sakura needs to be herself, and Naruto also sees her as his precious person - the one girl he would fight for. Yes, he would protect Hinata and others - that is part of his Nindo. But Sakura means a LOT to Naruto, and you can't deny that.
Well, I believe that the conflict already started from the moment Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke began their training under Kakashi.

But their Wave Country mission triggered something in Sakura. Remember when Naruto attacked Zabuza and got his hitai-ate back? Sakura was angry/upset when he did that and she yelled at him for being so reckless. But then she spotted his hitai-ate, and Naruto straightened up, tied it back on and showed he was not afraid of Zabuza.
At that very moment, Sakura blushed like mad and thought "What's this strange feeling..? This is so... Naruto is so..." (going by the Viz translation, the fansub is very close). What really strikes me about that statement is that Sakura doesn't seem to know about that feeling. Which leads me to ask... did she ever feel that for Sasuke? Maybe she did, maybe not, I don't know.

-----
Anyway, the previous statement of mine that you quoted. I would like to point out that is only based on how things are currently going in the manga. Things can change! So, yep, SasuSaku and NaruHina are possibilties. But as things stand, they won't happen. Because:
1) Sasuke does not return Sakura's feelings. He only cares for her as family. This was confirmed in manga chapter 181 which is yet to be shown in the anime. He also sees Naruto as the person he feels closest to.
2) Naruto does not return Hinata's feelings. He merely said "I like people like you." (and Hinata only heard "I like you.") It's quite clear because after that Chuunin Exam/Sound invasion arc, Naruto's feelings for Sakura actually grew deeper and he doesn't think of Hinata. He sees her as a friend.
3) Sakura has grown from hating Naruto to trusting him with her life. She also shows she really cares about him, doing things such as blushing on a few occasions, giving him a warm smile (which he hasn't seen yet), thinking of picking him up when he's been down, and cheering him on like mad at his fights. All through the manga, Naruto and Sakura have done things that have not been noticed by the other. And of course, manga chapter 183, pages 12-15.
Right now, I think Sakura's feelings are all up in the air at the moment. While I cannot tell if she has found out about Naruto's Sasuke Henge (it can be interpreted in two ways - either she was thinking he always knew of her pain, and/or she was thinking that he always knew of her hurtful words on the day Team 7 met), it is very apparent she was shocked and was doing some serious thinking. She wasn't even paying attention to Lee. Either way, she now knows Naruto actually understands how she feels.
But I have to say SasuSaku is looking very doubtful at the moment since Sasuke still chose to leave her behind and did not show any hints of anything deeper than a brother-sister bond. He never thinks of her alone, every time she has shown in a flashback in his head, Naruto is always there as well - so it hammers home the point that Sasuke sees them as his family which he has now left behind.
Of course, you can argue about Outer/Inner Sakura being a case of manners, but when you want to have a love relationship you should be able to be just yourself. For example, Sakura is the same as Naruto deep inside and even shares his humour/spirit but she is afraid to show that in case Sasuke disapproves. Therein lies the problem. How can you be loved for yourself if you have to really change your personality to try and get them to accept you? That's a big reason why I don't support SasuSaku.

Chapter 181 only really confirmed the one-sidedness of the SasuSaku relationship, they were acting pretty much the same as when they first met, the only difference being that Sasuke now sees her as a friend rather than another fangirl. Sakura shows she cares for him, but her lack of knowledge about him is very apparent in her speech. She doesn't even know WHO it is Sasuke wants revenge against. Over the manga, she and Sasuke have never really shared anything, he has kept her at a distance. This shows very clearly that Naruto has gotten a lot closer than Sakura to him - remember how he told Naruto about the man being his own brother?
The Naruto and Sakura reunion (hopefully within the next few chapters) is definitely going to be very pivotal. It will have a big say in how the relationships will change in the future. Hopefully, we'll see Sakura's long awaited return in a couple of chapters and we can get a clearer picture of what she's been thinking! Of course, she will have been worried about both Naruto and Sasuke, but it will be interesting to see how she took her realisations. Some argue that she will hurt Naruto, but I highly doubt it because she has shown she cares about him and she trusts him. And she'd know exactly what happened - Kakashi would tell her, and she would probably also see Sasuke's marked hitai-ate. She was there when she heard him boast about how Naruto could not touch his forehead and remembers Naruto's speech about being equal Leaf ninjas.
For NaruHina, while Hinata could benefit from his confidence, there is the danger of her becoming too dependent on him and not being able to reel him in when he gets too loud/stupid. What Hinata really needs is to learn to grow, just like she did when she found the courage to fight Neji. She needs to continue on from that and develop as a person rather than depend on Naruto.
Also, their relationship would need to grow if there is to be any chance of love between them. Ever since the Chuunin tournament, there has been no contact between them. None at all.
Sakura compliments Naruto's strength with her intelligence and knowledge, while he makes up for her lack of brute power. Remember Iruka's Heaven and Earth speech? It also extends to their relationship outside of battle - they pick each other up when they're feeling down, and Sakura also scolds Naruto whenever he gets too brash. So, even if they never got together, they could be excellent teammates and very close friends.

You can find plenty of heated debates between NaruSaku, NaruHina and SasuSaku here in this thread.

There were also quite a few "neutrals" (people who are not with any pairings fanclubs), who thought NaruSaku was quite likely as well - even a good pairing.
I noticed in the NaruHina thread that we seem to have gained a reputation as debaters and essay posters.

The tables may be turning these days.

With the anime showing more NaruSaku fillers, and the manga making some great developments (even if 238 disappointed), I wouldn't be surprised if we continued to grow a lot.

This episode/chapter is the deciding factor in the parting between Sasuke and the leaf village. The first obvious separation is between Sasuke and Sakura. It's first obvious sign is the distancing signified by the fading out of the pink haired girl. The second sign isn't when he hit her to stop bothering him (the Uchiha does that all the time without getting physical) but when he stepped upon the apple slice. Right there, any hopes of Sasu/saku romance was wiped from existence.
The separation to his village is marked by his unwillingness to weart his forehead protector during the battle. Sasuke steps upon his pride as a Konoha shinobi at that moment. When Sakura gets to the roof, both boys are about to fight. Naruto always symbolised Konoha's futur according to the hokages (Third, fourth and fifth) while Sasuke fights Naruto he also makes himself an 'Enemy' of Konoha in a symbolic way.
Now, the battle leaves Naruto in a bad spot at one moment when Sasuke pummels him. Sakura thinks Naruto's name. It denotes a very large progress from the begining of the anime when the kunoichi didn't care what happened to him. When Sasuke gets in trouble (Naruto rendan) she doesn't even get a bit of screen time. we know she's thinking about him (she does have a crush on him) but they do not show proof of this through any scenes where she wonders about his safety. Why is that? deduction would point that the relationship of friendship is more important then the crush on Sasuke. I will not mention love relationships here for there are no evidence with wich to prove the exact point.
The final attack help prove the fact that she is thorn between the two; Sakura jumps in the middle of battle not to protect either of them but to try and save them both. she doesn't know what Rasengan is (I say the side story nefver happened) or how it acts. She knows it's strong since it disperces Goukyakou no Jutsu but against a Chidori who know what will happen. Thus is she jumping more for Naruto or for Sasuke. From what she knows Naruto is in more danger then Sasuke. She knows that if they hit one another they'll kill each other but in her mind Sasuke has more chance to survive. She jumps in because Naruto is a friend just as much as Sasuke is for her.
Since this text only pertains to this particular episode/chapters I will not go further into the story then necessary but these divisions only grow from chapter to chapter from this point on, there is also a number of factors which bring Naruto and Sakura closer but everything pertaining to sasuke is separating itself from the rest.
Now on to the battle. I'll analyse iot just a bit for personal satisfaction.
It would appear that Sasuke ruled the battle except for some attacks from Naruto but is that really true? Let us analyse the fighters.
Sasuke: Relies on the Sharingan, fire techniques and taijutsu. His speed is rather high leveled and his strenght and endurance are about average.
Naruto: Relies on his stamina, Naruto controls high leveled jounin techniques and trickery. He wins his battle through improvisation and is considered unpredictable. His Taijutsu would be about average, his strenght just a bit above average, his speed is about average and his endurance is off the charts.
Most people class Naruto as the underdog but that's because they underestimate the hyperactive ninja who doesn't look the job but it would be more accurate to consider him the top dog. Naruto also has the power of the Kyuby to help him through real battles. Everything about him goes right off the charts when he releases the demon except his taijutsu which becomes more primal.
Now for the battle. The first thing that comes to mind is that Sasuke's speed was superior to Naruto's skills but the blonde isn't even hurt after being pummeled. When Sasuke hits Naruto doesn't seem fazed much but when the blonde attacks his enemy Sasuke uses one of his strongest attack. Naruto's kage bunshin is one of his weaker techniques and he uses it to attack quite effectively. Sasuke counters and Naruto uses his Rasengan. The powerful attack negates the goukyakou nad Sasuke releases chidori. From the point Naruto used the bunshin he lead the battle.
The battle also makes them as more equaly matched then most people would think. Naruto held his own against Sasuke's Taijutsu which is mostly his strongest point while Sasuke had no way of following Naruto's rising in power at this particular point.
Had Naruto unleashed the Kyuby there would have been nothing left of Sasuke. period. Sasuke has the cursed seal but there's no way he could match it's powers against those of the Kyuby yet. (As shown by further chapters)
In conclusion, it can be said accurately that Sasuke is mostly over estimated when compared to Naruto, had the battle continued the blond would have creamed sasuke, healed his injuries with a good dose of Kyuby and finaly gone off in the sunset with a girl on his arm (Wishful thinking: Sakura).
There, tell me what you think or what I missed people!

I am more in love with the pairing than ever, especially when I saw the thread Smiter showed us, and also when I saw Smiter's manga-based fanfic. NaruSaku forever!! :sakurasprite:

LOL, I wouldn't really call this battle "heated". As uhh... *someone said in that uhh *other thread, we have about 1000 cannons to fire at them and they have only about 3 bullets and a half cannon.
Kind of makes me recall about that one NaruSaku moment...

Rasengan buster riffle
Bullhorns to deafen them
Missiles Ground/Ground made of American Cherry wood and loaded with Naruto pastries
the normal cannons on auto fire
did I mention the Neji Torpedoes ? They release Neji on ennemy ships and he uses his ultimate attack! RANTING ATTACK!
I'm working on the cannonballs now, I need a good official picture for those but there aren't any yet which show Sakura *very* close to Naruto. It's coming though! I'll print those on it and send them over, we might even get refugees from that action alone!
They have three canons anbd a half but do they have the ammo? It's the ammo you fire at the other ships! SS is dead so we don't need to fire anymore, unless we wish to finish them off for good

Well into madness, with each setting sun
I put my head down and I dreamt you were here
With me by the ol' tree, where no one could care
Far Away Boys, Far Away Boys
Away from ya now

In her arms I'll be found
Then the sun belched upon me
You were no longer here
Lyin' in your place was my hammer and my gear
We came to a mountain
Dynamite and she'll blow
A big hole in that rock
Like the one in my soul
With the heat I was melting
Into your sweet lips
Ah, your kiss takes me back
Takes me back from all this
Far Away Boys, Far Away Boys

Sakura is clearly seeing things change before her. She's seeing Sasuke's true nature (the avenger) and the real Naruto (honourable warrior who won't back down from his word and what is right). Combine that with her choosing to confide in Naruto and tell him she was really worried about Sasuke's state of mind (we'll see that in 108).
Then you have Sasuke rejecting her. That's what 181 was REALLY about. He was telling her that he had no room for her in his future plans (1. Gain Power 2. Kill Itachi 3. Dance on his grave) and that she should not get in his way. Not only did it show how little Sakura knew of Sasuke, it also showed subtle hints of her crush wavering, and that he would never be in a romantic relationship with her. Period.
Looking forward to 108, 109, 110.

I just re-read that pairings thread (thanks for the kind comments on my fic, Blessed.

SasuSaku is supposed to be sunk.

In terms of likelihood, it's NaruSaku, NaruHina (hey, Hinata isn't a psychopath and there is a chance Naruto might date her thinking Sakura will only love Sasuke), with SasuSaku in dead last.
It's SO annoying how some people simply pick a pairing based on how "cute" they look. It's such a shallow reason. I can understand if it's the first impression and it deepens from there, but to use it as the MAIN reason is just... bleh.

Argh. This pairing is the pits, in my opinion. I've never liked it, as I've said before, and I never WILL like it. And, honestly, I don't like Naru/Hina either. It doesn't...sit right, for some reason. Whenever I think of the two of them together, I see a mismatch, and it bothers me. Granted, my opinion of Hinata is sort of murky...she irritates me for being so meek, yet I respect her for getting the balls to fight back against Neji. I don't know. I'm more partial to the Kiba/Hina pairing (or even *gasp* Neji/Hina) just because I look at Kiba and Hinata the way I do Naruto and Sakura. Kiba likes Hinata (well, at least, I believe he does, considering his behavior at the Chuunin Exam), yet Hinata is too hung up on Naruto to notice (sound like something familiar?? ^^). All I know is, I'll be gravely disappointed if Naruto ends up with Hinata, not because I don't like her, but because I just don't think that they would make each other happy. It would kill me to see him with anyone but Sakura, since it would be like looking at something that was so close, yet so far away, if that makes sense.
Damn. I think this was one of the longest rants I've ever written in here...wow...

I agree with Ash - SasuSaku is surely dead and rotting. We all thought 181 struck it stone dead when it was already dying. Even before Orochimaru gave Sasuke that hickey, there were hints he was only interested in power (thinking about fighting strong guys to gauge his skill, calling Sakura weak, talking about killing his brother).
I. hate. Sasuke. fanboys/fangirls.

I may be a NaruSaku fanboy (yes, I admit it!) but I do at least try to look at things with a level head and I can admit when I'm wrong. I won't include anything that is not in the manga in my evidence. I don't quote from outdated "handbooks" or third-party articles. I only use the one thing you cannot dispute - the manga as penned by Kishimoto and his army of assistants.
There is a difference between "reading underneath the underneath" and seeing things that are plainly not there.
It drives me up the wall when the SasuSakus insist Sasuke has shown feelings, yet there is not ONE panel in the 235 chapters since Sasuke was introduced that shows him having deep feelings for Sakura. Not ONE hint. Zip. Zilch. Nada. Bugger all for over 4 years.
We had hints from Sakura to Naruto.
We had hints from Naruto to Sakura.
We had hints from Hinata to Naruto.
We had hints from Sakura to Sasuke even (nowhere near as good as the SakuNarus though)
Yet there is NOTHING from Sasuke to Sakura. In fact, Naruto is the one he has got closest to.
It's pretty damn obvious why Kishimoto has shown nothing. Because Sasuke does NOT love Sakura! Why is it so hard for them to see that simple fact?
*exhales* Anyway... I do like both KibaHinata and NejiHinata.

Neji is quite nice to Hinata these days, and he even thought she was cute when they were little. I can easily see him being the kind of guy who will protect her all the time despite his previous attempt to kill her. He's strong without being overbearing or overexcited like Naruto and Kiba.
I guess I am really passionate about Naruto and Sakura getting together.

Stupid of them to only give you TEN MINUTES notice! You should tell them that they should at least agree a deadline in plenty of time if they want to be organised and not assume everyone can drop everything and be ready in ten.
It happened to me once at uni as well. I spent the next five minutes lecturing them.

I hope things get sorted.
