I think so, too.
I'm a King fan, but that chapter was... useless in my eyes. Didn't add anything to the story.
Well, it really gave a vibe of "king" who cares. But I'm intrested in Merlin and Meliodas more than Ban/King they already got arc and special chapters for them, and Merlin and Mel only got 1 flashaback for Mel, and both into special bout vampires.
Because of side story? Didn't Gowther have one?
Because of screentime. I guess it's their time to shine now.

It was the useless one of them all, but King's side of story is being explored in the main one, rather than a side one. So, what can you do with him. Pretty much do the best friend one about number 1. Ban is the one that got like a monthly release length, so yeah, that one seems more favored by the author. Who knows.

I liked what Meliodas did, that was something extra-ordinary for shonen hero, they don't use perks for their own use xD
