So it's during the Pein arc? Oh boy I hope we don't get another confession from Hinata. Or maybe we'll be lucky, and get one -- and Naruto shots her down and says he loves Sakura.

Wait...where does it say that it takes place during the Pein arc? Nothing was confirmed to my knowledge

The plot of this movie has really got me interested especially since I saw an episode of Batman The Animated Series entitled "Perchance To Dream", I wonder if it will be anything like that where Naruto wakes up, and discovers his parents are still alive, and he's actually regarded as the hero his father wanted to see him as, and better yet, he has Sakura as his girlfriend, but then he begins to discover that things aren't as they seem, and he desperately tries to make sense of this dream or genjustu in this case and tries to break it. It would make for a rather interesting plot, but then again that's just wishful thinking on my part.

Minus Naruto's parents being alive...that sounds like the sooner or later reality we all know and love

I am going to take out this idea, if Naruto's parents are alive, then that means the whole village knows of his heritage, and the fact that he is the Fourth Hokage's son, will put pressure on him to do much better as a ninja. Which in turn, allow him to become the top of the class, and thus earning the respect of his peers.

But you know...I don't think nothing has been shown to us.

Not even close. Shippuden Movie 3 isn't even out yet here in the US. Viz Media is taking too damn slow to release the rest of the Naruto movies.

Because Kishimoto is writing it. It's not quite canon, but looks like Kishimoto is doing a slight variant version of canon. Note, Tobi Madara is still in the mask Konan destroyed in manga canon, Sakura is still in her regular uniform not the standard Konoha Chunin and Jonin uniform of the war arc.

My guess the scene where Sakura cries out happens when the last scene in this trailer happens, Tobi Madara looks to have won and Sakura is too far away to save Naruto, but close enough to see what is happening... (that's my guess, thus her sudden cry of anguish)

Man that last scene with Madara holding up Naruto and saying he's gonna take Kurama from him sent some chills down my spine.

Thank God the trailer shows Sakura I hope she plays an important role and got many screentime in this movie.

Come to think of it, whenever Kishimoto is involved, Sakura got more attention yeah? Hopefully it's not just wishful thinking...

Hey guys, did you see the new synopsis that was posted?

A dozen years ago, a huge demon, Kyuubi, was unleashed because of a mysterious shinobi, the masked man. The village of Konoha was attacked by Kyuubi and on the verge of being devastated. There was only one way to save the village. The fourth hokage Minato, the leader of Konoha, and with his wife Kushina sealed Kyuubi together into their son who was just born. Those two, who sacrificed their lives, just managed to save the village, entrusting its future to Naruto.

And then time went by ... And the members of Akatsuki, a terrifying group, composed of Pain, Konan, Itachi, Kisame, Sasori, Deidara, Hidan, Kakuzu assaulted the village of Konoha ! Naruto and the others barely succeeded in counter attacking them. But why are those Akatsuki members, supposedly all dead, here again now ? The mystery remains, but all the shinobis are being praised to achieve a dangerous mission. In the meantime, Naruto, who doesn't know his parents' face, can't help it to feel very lonely. Just around that time, and all of a sudden, the masked man shows up in the village of Konoha. The mysterious new eye technique of this man then strikes both Naruto and Sakura.


Now, his terrifying ambition is revealed ! Is he targetting Kyuubi ?
Traps and conspiracy to Naruto and Sakura, and to the other shinobis of Konoha's village.
The fierce fight is inevitable ! The movie is at its climax !

Rather wait a bit before getting too excited, but this looks promising.

That synopsis sounds very...intriguing, especially that part about it specifically affecting Naruto and Sakura. Perhaps it will be kinda like the waterfall of truth and give us some indsight into both their psyche's (especially Sakura's).

If that's not the case (and I realize it may very well not be), the other genjutsu theories that have been posted so far also sounds pretty exciting. Whatever the plot turns out to be, I just hope that Kishi will do Sakura's character justice and not just have her sit on the sidelines for most of the movie.

Now I just gotta get my ass in gear and go watch the other Shippuden movies...

Well, this gives me the feeling that this isn't an AU. Sasuke is probably still sided with Tobi-- I wonder if his decision to mess with both Naruto and Sakura have to do with him. It is rather curious as to why he would specifically cast Sakura under some genjutsu as well, if he's only set out to capture Kyuubi.
