What are your thoughts overall?

One of the best arcs. Great villain, great fights, great characters, Laws backstory was great, Fujitora became a favorite, Luffy was a beast. Only problem was not enough Nami, but the rest was great.

Cons: Too long, too many characters, too many stories being set up, unneeded redemption with Bellamy, not enough real fights, and no half of the straw hats for two years epecially Nami who is like Luffy's soulmate and is a huge reason why I love this series.

 

Pros: Usopp unlocking haki gave me goosebumps and is well earned, DD was an awesome villain overall, I liked the epilogue of this arc with Akainu and Fujitora yelling at each other, and Bartelo and cavendish were funny as hell.

 

Overall I would say I am pretty disappointed because the arc doesn't fully canalize its potential to reach it by focusing too much on developing non important characters at the expense to progression of the plot and its action (I wanted more Law vs DD and Fuji and less dwarves and coliseum) and making its potential epic moments feel underwhelming.

 

Expectation for Wano: Much less characters, it has to be character driven on a limited amount otherwise we will feel overwhelmed, lots of samurai fights that uses different styles and techniques (fire, water, hypnotic, hiding murderous intentions, silly drunken style), Zoro being the main focus of this arc and the last schichibukai being his opponent, Tashigi being the main supporting character that has to overcome her own demons of being a woman, justice and her lack of strength, Nami helping the girl to overcome them and acting as a motherly sisterly figure (to compensate for her lack of screentime), Luffy being  bro with Zoro and being recognized as a wise figure in Wano when Zoro and Tashigi prove their worth. If Oda uses all these elements correctly we could have one of the best arc that could actually as good or even better than Arlong park.

I don't really agree with the "too many character" sentiment. I think it really just highlights how amazingly talented Oda is. Not many other people are able to balance such a large cast and keep them all interesting and relevant. I loved how many new and cool characters we got, people like Bart and Cabbage added to the story, and characters like Kyros and Corazon made it that much more meaningful.

The thing about having too many characters is absurd to me because it's literally been a staple of how Oda writes. The man has created an entire world and filled it accordingly. I'd rather have that than a failure like Kishi who neglects characters in favor of Sasuke, then fails when it comes to the main characters as well as the side characters.

And I honestly wish the coliseum fight lasted longer. I enjoyed Luffy fighting in a tourny like setting I want more.

Well it's been 3 days since Luffy left Fishman Island, and if you remember, Big Mom's tea party was scheduled 3 days after Luffy's crew leaving Fishman Island. So I think the next chapter will be about the party.

Well, I thought it was too many and while they are good, you only named the one that pretty much is the highlight as the others were more like arc characters. Now here we are with new fleet and I only remember half of them. Thankfully, they are coming aboard so I can learn more of them. Still, there were seriously huge cast.

The long lasting is another factor, but I will forgive it a bit for being a monumental arc since it is shifting the story a lot. That said the pacing was questionable and while I do like the atmosphere of surviving to the end, it was dragging the arc longer and only felt needed for anime to do the stretching.

I'll admit, this is nitpicking so don't take it hard, but I was a bit annoyed on how easily repair can be done with big damage (arm repair in no time). Yes, that's their character, they can do that, but lessen the effect, so that was disappointing. It's one of those afraid of taking risk, especially like death, when keep playing the idea that they died, though Law, I'll forgive. Just not others. Just do it. It won't hurt us. Just do it.

Other than that, I pretty much enjoyed the arc.

Well it's been 3 days since Luffy left Fishman Island, and if you remember, Big Mom's tea party was scheduled 3 days after Luffy's crew leaving Fishman Island. So I think the next chapter will be about the party.

 

Yeah I thought the same before Oda showed the crew running away from Kaidou's crew. Whats up with that? But yeah probably Big Mom arc next. Hopefully Koala will be joining since she also has the Sun Pirate mark on her back. Jinbei will also be joining the crew officially.

 

Kaidou's introduction chapter is still bugging me. There must be a reason for Oda showing him now and making Kaidou bump into the Kidd alliance. My theory is Kaido will team up with Kidd alliance to bring down Luffy for breaking his factory. Luffy will realize that Big Mum is related to Lola because of the vivre card which she gave at the end of Thriller Bark. He will join forces with Big Mom to fight Kaido and Kidd alliance. Law will also join the fight because the reason Kaidou can't die is because of the previous Ope Ope no mi user giving the immortality to Kaidou.

That reminds me that Baby 5 is a part of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet too. I remember reading some people wanting her to be a straw hat and I guess that's close enough. Lol.
