May I ask why you read NH arguments? Is it to be fair? To make sure you're not missing something? I'm just curious.
Well, we will find out if we're the ones misintepreting. For me, the thing is that I truly want to ship whatever pairing the author has in mind. To me that only makes sense, because not only do you avoid disappointment but you have a better sense that you're following the story the way the author intends.
I didn't choose to ship NS just because I liked it better than other options. I chose to ship it because I honestly felt it was what Kishimoto was trying to show me. And I don't have to trouble myself to dig deep for clues and stretch tiny possibilities out of proportion to substantiate what I believe. It's right there for the taking.
I will say right now that if after everything I've said here, and how adamant I've been about NS being the final pairing, and I turn out to be wrong? I will not hesitate to be here on this board admitting it.
Of course the armchair quarterback in me thinks it probably could have been better. But we have to take into consideration the circumstances. It wasn't exactly a moment for roses and long kisses. Ron showed his true self -- an improved self -- and Hermione responded.
Neither of them knew if there would be another chance. It was rushed, and considering the long build-up it wasn't as satisfying as it might have been if Rowling had chosen a different moment for them, but considering how it was written I felt it was pretty realistic.
For the top bolded sentence, while can't answer for that specific poster, I would say that I generally read NH arguments so that I could have better understanding of their logic. I want to know why they believe NH will happen, and what evidence supports it in the manga. Usually I find stuff from NH fans stating why NH should happen, not why it will happen and support that with facts. NS and SS fans are like that too at times, as we argue more so of why it should happen, rather than use evidence from the manga series itself to support what they believe in. The arguments really come down to more emotional desire, rather than logical. I am sure there are legit NH arguments and probably some that may even make me doubt NS, I just haven't come across one yet. However, the official Naruto Pairing Wiki never convinced me how and why NH should happen, so I am not really looking at NH arguments anymore.
For the second bolded part, I just want to say that is how I generally ship things as well.
Well actually I don't generally ship pairings, mostly because leads to things like this idiotic Naruto pairing war. Yet when there is a couple in a fictional media that I want to see together, usually I would (quote, and unquote) "ship" if I see it as being the direction that the creator is going. But their must be an emotional desire for me as well, as I need to want to see it happen, rather than just me believing it will happen. For example, in the Harry Potter movie series (not book series, as I have not read them and they could have totally given off different impressions) I never cared who got with who, even though I did correctly predict them in the early films. I just never cared, like I initially didn't care about the Naruto pairings at the beginning when I watched the anime (WAY back in good old 2006 (or 2005?)). The series made care though, and now I'm here due to the fact that I now have emotional desire to see a certain pairing come true.
