When a character that was once loved becomes a complete waste, and in the end reverts, their character arc destroyed and the major redeeming qualities about them lost, well then you not only have disappointment in play but the feeling of outright betrayal.

 

 

Exactly.  The mass hate for Sakura is based on emotion not logic.  I'm not saying they're aren't logical reasons to dislike her character (such as her impatient personality and sharp tongue) but if that were so how come other characters who also had "wasted potential", such as Hinata, Karin or even Tenten not higher on the list with Sakura?  How come other characters who have even hotter tempers than her and meaner personalities like Deidara, Hidan etc not on the list with her?  Sakura is singled out and judged more harshly because she's the main heroine & is hated for different more primal reasons, which makes this list unfair.

 

Or they might just have a legitimate gripe with her character. I mean, sometimes villains are some of the most liked characters in a series. I didn't mind Orochimaru. Aizen, Grimmjow, and Ulquiorra are some of my personal favorites in Bleach, and I'm pretty sure God Aizen has a pretty large and rabid fanbase. Sakura is the top of that list because she is easy to hate, and she has a lot of legitimate things that people hate her for.

It's not Sakura's place on that list that's telling, it's partially deserved (partially because I'm sure that there are a**hole otaku's out there that hate her because her kittens are too small ), what's truly telling is the fact that 5 of the top 15 are Naruto characters as someone said a page ago or so. And it's no surprise that she, or anyone else on that list from Naruto, is there, as the ending recently happened. It has a bigger impact when the event is so recent. Whereas school days apparently finished a long time ago, Naruto finished recently, so all the negatives are more fresh in people's minds. For 5 of the top 15 to be Naruto means that Kishi truly sucks at writing endings.

 

And that's why I call them shallow because who cares if all those characters kill innocents & cause mayhem as long as they're cool and kickass.    It's biased how fans can excuse characters who do evil yet they relentlessly hate on a character for rejecting a boy and for being "useless"?  (Which Sakura is not, proven many times when she's healed and helped others)

I'm not saying Sakura doesn't deserve to be on that list.  I'm saying she doesn't deserve to be above all those characters.

And yeah I agree, the hatred for Sakura has been running higher since the recent horrible ending which further proves that this list is biased and BS.

The problem isn't really anything past-693 since Sakura's always gotten this amount of hate, it's just people who can't get past her flaws and only see those flaws when looking at her. They don't see her accomplishments and changes throughout the entire manga....just her purposefully written (as well as old) flaws.
 
Even then, a now pathetic female lead who's obsessed with the antagonist is hated more than villains who've done crazy kitten? Joke! How does a character like that deserve this much hate? She hasn't done anything to harm anybody or those around her. She's not causing any suffering to anybody. It's all onto herself, yet she somehow manages to grab the #1 spot on "Most hated characters"?

The problem is that villains that do crazy kitten are meant to do that because they're villains. Sometimes villains are extremely good at being villains, and because of that, and the fact that they probably bring a change of perspective, they are really well liked. Obito was literally one of my favorite characters. I know he did terrible things, but I felt for him because of the tangibility of his pain and the sadness of his past. He brought a different perspective to the manga, and was the anti-Naruto. He was the only villain that represented the exact opposite of Naruto at a really personal level, and I liked that, and other people like villains because of the dynamic they bring.

Sakura isn't perfect, and she has done plenty of bad, and there are legitimate things to hate about her, just like every character. But keep in mind that the ending of Naruto is still fresh in everyone's mind, and she legitimately turned into a terrible person, right there with Naruto when it was all said and done. She had one of the most reprehensible endings, so people remember it. Not to mention the size of the fanbase. But if that poll is taken a few years down the line, she might not be as hated because people would have forgotten

Well... yeah it's because she is the main heroine. People expected her to be something, to go somewhere. Like I said people feel betrayed over that. Her character arc was destroyed. She returned to "Sasuke-Kun" obsessed with no other drive but having him as hers. And now it's official that well everyone else grew up, she's still waiting for that kitten who did noting but abuse her, for her entire life. That's not how a strong person acts.

 

There is a reason SS is number 1 and 2 on that list, and Naruto himself isn't the far behind even amongst a list of mass murders and people who ruined their families for selfish reasons.

Tbf and l know l'm probably going to get into trouble for saying that but l'm really tired of Sakura's fans crying "misogyny" when Sakura gets hated. l'm sorry but as far as l'm concerned she deserves every single word of hate she gets. She's a terrible character and even if l don't doubt some of her haters are indeed sexists and women haters and what have you, there's also a lot of other, perfectly legitimate reasons why men AND women alike strongly dislike her.

 

lf you look at that poll closely (l've reached page 12, yes l have time to waste) you'll notice that other shonen heroines from popular series like Attack on Titan, One Piece, Fairy Tail or Soul Eater are nowhere to be seen. That's because they're not bad characters unlike Sakura.

The fact that he stated that no One Piece heroine appears on the lis is reliable enough for me.

Besides, what the hell has ash ever won? 20 years and he still hasn't beat the elite 4.

Let me ask you an honest question.

 

Do you in your heart of hearts believe the Sakura became more popular by the end of Naruto compared to how she was viewed pre 293?

 

Sakura's popularity has taken a huge hit. You can see it on most Naruto boards, and even here when people speak of the Sakura they love it isn't the canon version. Outside of SS I don't here many people talking about how good she is. She isn't that popular anymore. Not only are there her old Hinata loving haters, but there are now many former fans who can't stand what she became.

 

Do you guys have any proof that what I'm saying is wrong? That she is more popular now then she used to be? I'm more then willing to have my mind changed if evidence is shown, but I haven't seen any.

l'm not defending anything, l just think it's ridiculous how everytime something shows Sakura is one of the most hated characters in anime\manga what's left of her fandom cover their ears and go LALALA MEAN SEXISTS IT DOESN'T COUNT IT'S HINATA'S FANS STUDIO PIERROT AND SJ EDITORS FAULT.

Maybe this is my opinion but I find Hinata more detestable than because even when Yahagi's there she still acted useless while Sakura was kicking ass. And in the Last that did for me on Hinata for being jealous of Kushina's scarf and knitting a stupid scarf while her sister is kidnapped. Why does she get a pass for that?

Sakura was receiving enough hate before 693 too. 'f course I don't deny the fact that she is hated more than ever now but she had enough haters pre 693 as well. Sp either ways....she had to make it in that list. The rankings would've been different had the poll been conducted then. That's it. But either this way or the other...she had to make it into that list

The reason why Sakura fans claim some of her hate is misogynistic is because of the insults thrown at her such as "wh*re, sl*t, b*tch, flat-chested", and also because she's constantly compared to Hinata who's praised for her "big t*ts" and submissive.personality.  Sure there are some fans who actually hate her for understandable reasons, but the majority of them only hate her because gets in the way of NH or has flat t*ts, which is sexist.

If she's so detestable why wasn't Sasuke placed higher than her on the list?  He's done worse things.  People only hate Sakura more because she's the heroine.

That's what I said. Given the current scenario regarding the ending, it is exactly the reason why she is on number 1. Unlike Sakura fans like us who know its the writer behind the bars who's manipulating stuff, NS fans now hate her 'cuz of the wrong decision she took. Naruto did sooooo much for her, there was development, shr loved Sasuke 'cuz of looks, Sasuke abused her and yet she went with Sasuke is what goes on with them. So partial hate comes from there. NH fans....I need not tell. They make up for a huge fanbase of Naruto. So like majority of the hate comes from there. Not the blind NH fans though. Then there are the antis who hated/hate her. So basically.....more than 3/4th of the Naruto fandom hates her for her current choice and course of action. And to top it all....the wounds are still fresh...so...
