Sure. I think we can segue into NaruSaku from here.

Ahem. Absolutely! Kishi has been able to put together a passable plot, but his true talent is in characterization. The reason NaruSaku is so compelling to me is because how well Kishi portrays them growing close after much adversity. I don't know how others can't see the intimacy between those two.

So much agree. How can you NOT see that NaruSaku is a strongly supported theory if nothing else? I just don't get it.

The only reason I can think of is perhaps being disturbed by Sakura's tsundere moments. Personally I thought nothing of it, didn't even register in my mind. Because I've seen so many other characters acting just like that in other series. Maka's Maka Chop, Winry's wrench, Ryou's kick...

I'm sure that other pairing fandom arguments have better supported arguments than that one, but I don't see how they can say there's no basis or development as I have seen them claim.

For me, as a ship NS is one I started subconsciously, so I can't exactly claim that I ship it because it makes sense. (Though I could say that my subconscious knew it made sense before my conscious self did, but whatever.) But I wouldn't support it the way I do now if it made no sense...if a ship doesn't make sense, I have no problem admitting that. (Though so far, SasuHina is the only thing I ship that kinda doesn't make sense, but it does have some reasonable theory behind it, so...)

Well, if we're off-topic, I have a topic we can discuss.

NaruHina/SasuSaku fans like to argue Sakura sees Naruto as a brother. Some of them argue it's because Sakura's always bossing him around and lecturing him. They compare her to every female familial role possible: Sakura acts like a mother or a big sister. They say that's why NS isn't romantic and their relationship isn't natural.

We know nothing about how Sakura sees Naruto until she tells us or we're actually shown her thoughts. *shrug* Basically this argument is unprovable until confirmed in the manga.

I LOVE THAT SONG AND THE VIDEO MAN, but like, isn't that a Christian song? BUT that really reflects their relationship imo.

PS: Are there people who like PJO and HOO, and want to talk about it? Cause I kinda want to start a thread about it. ( I haven't found any Percy Jackson threads sooo ) If anybody likes Percy Jackson, PM me and maybe we can discuss it? I don't want to start a thread that nobody is gonna participate in. If not, go along with your day! :D

I love that series! and i ship percy and annabeth! I wouldn't mind a thread about it.

@questdrivencollie:

Exactly. To argue a brother-sister or mother-son relationship, you have to have proof for it. You can't just declare a ship like siblings or family from one side just because you don't like it.

I feel for it to be a sisterly love from Sakura's side (as they most commonly argue) the idea of being with Naruto has never crossed her mind and she feels absolutely no attraction to him. A good example of a sibling relationship is when someone asks you if your brother or sister is attractive and you say "I don't know. I never thought about it." I have an older brother myself and that's exactly how it is with me. I have no opinion on how he looks.

Now I know this isn't the case with Sakura. She did flirt with him at the beginning of Part 2 which isn't exactly sisterly or motherly ... though I can understand from a certain POV why people mistake Sakura's scolding of Naruto as a sign of motherly or sisterly behavior.

Naruto obviously doesn't see her as a sister, unless brothers call their sisters girlfriends (to his dead father, lmao). Plus, I'm positive that sisters don't confess their love to their brothers, so Sakura must not think of Naruto as brother, lol. I have no idea how the siblings-relationship argument works against NS.

And on top of that, you know it's not the case with Sakura, because Sakura has thought of the idea of being with Naruto. Remember the fake confession? She was really considering being with him, just for his happiness. That's definitely not a sisterly thing to do. That "I love you." was used romantically.

I mean how on earth is NaruSaku a brother-sister relationship? Naruto loves Sakura, and Sakura has unsure feelings for Naruto. That just does not happen in between brothers and sisters. Brothers and sisters definitely don't peek on each other, or check each other out. Naruto and Sakura definitely love each other, but not in a sibling way. It could be really deep friendship, but it could easily be romantic. At least that's what Kishi's been implying.

I think NH/SS fans want to believe they have a brother sister relationship, so that their pairings happen, but that just isn't the case with Naruto and Sakura. Naruto and Sakura's relationship is pretty confusing actually, especially after the confession... What would we call Naruto and Sakura's relationship at this point actually? They have one, but what could we label it? Just wondering...

@questdrivencollie I like you sig ;)

Why do people NOT ship these two? I just don't get it.

Probably cause they hate Sakura. When she's probably the most developed female character in the whole show.

I respect Hinata, but Sakura deserves some too.

Asking one's brother, "Have I grown to be more 'womanly' now" is surely something that sister won't do. And if someone does that....it'd really be a weird sibling relationship. Sakura just cannot have a sibling relationship with Naruto. If anything, this arguement of NH and SS fans proves that they themselves see how close Naruto and Sakura are...to each other because if I am not wrong, our siblings are the first guys who are close to us before our friends. That's the general notion and they just don't want to accept the closeness and that's why they bring up this arguement. No brother calls his sister, his 'girlfriend' infront of his father. It was meant for comedy relief....yeah as if his expressions while saying things were not a proof. If Naruto had said this about Hinata, god gorbid about the NH fandom. They'd have blasted like a nuke and when that moment was given to us....it was meant for comedy relief.

Sakura hits Naruto and she treats Naruto badly. Ofcourse she'd hit Naruto as she's a Tsundere. If I am not wrong, a Tsundere girl often loves and ends up with the guy she seemingly hits everytime. I mean NS is just perfect! What more do you want in a relationship when each of them bring out the best of each other? Trust, support, ecouragement and all is not at all an issue. Ever seen Sakura's face when Naruto is in trouble or is upset over something or is in distress? I can see nothing but too much warmth and care there. She often worries about him when he overdoes himself or she ends up hitting him much harder than she intended. Hinata completes Naruto's lonely existence and she was always there when no was...for Naruto. I am sorry but I really cannot see as to when Hinata was there for Naruto when he genuinely needed someone. If there ought to be anyone who 'is' there for Naruto, the only one that comes to my mind is Sakura and I require no proof for we know those moments. Hinata was ready to cheat the exams so that Naruto would pass. Well, Sakura was ready to ditch the exams just so Naruto won't have to see his dream crush. What happened to Hinata when Naruto was on his deathbed? She was making out with the rocks. What happened to Hinata when Naruto was pinned down by Pain? Though I give her the benefit of doubt here...but she went there for what? To confess at a situation like this? Sakura has done enough for Naruto and she really dosen't need to prove that she will always be there for Naruto whenever he'll need her for her actions speak louder than words. Heck! Hinata doesn't even know what Naruto's dream is. She just knows he wants to be a hokage which apparently the whole of Konoha knows but what about the depth of this dream? She's not even aware of it. Again, if there's anyone who has supported Naruto and shown the most care for his ambitions....it is Sakura. Everytime I ask a question to myself regarding the support for Naruto and doing something for him...I can't help but get one answer and that is...Sakura. I mean that's really the case. After all that has happened, how can NS be deemed as a brother sister relationship? The answer to it is something which only the NH and SS fans know.....

I'd bet money that sasuke is going to get his ass kicked, if it wasn't against the rules

Again I saw this coming ages ago, and any one who said they didn't is either an SS/NH fan in denial or just out right lying. I have a very strong theory to whats going to go down. Naruto fights sasuke, Naruto wins, Sasuke gives him  the moon seal, admits that he will never win against him or something like that, sends him home before he dies, Naruto seals the tree and frees every one and then we get one last mystery stroy arc... NS will most likely go canon there if not sooner or in the final movie

Awww jeez. I've missed the offtopic about favourite shounens. I think One Piece was and is the best modern shounen out there, i cannot even seriously compare it with any other. It is simply miles ahead plotwise and designwise. It inspired me for years, I even made Nami's tatoo as I look exactly like her. Still I have to admit that One Piece went downhill in recent years after the Thriller Bark arc. I think Oda isn't good at handling so many characters in the Strawhat crew at the same time (he even designes plots to separate them - like now). It was easy when there were 5-6 of them, but now he just gets overwhelmed by such a big main cast. First Franky, Brook and Robin were handled like minor sidecharacters, they still don't get much spotlight and development even now. But at least the main 6 were developed well. Now, after the timeskip, all 9 of them feel somewhat forgotten and shallow, getting minor and far-fetched scenes that don't nurture their characters enough. Most of the crew never feels like being a major contribution to the story and the arc-related characters overshadow them easily. Except for Luffy, of course.

Bleach degraded in years. It is ridiculous now. I half-ass read it to see Rukia and Mayuri scenes. I just wish to witness its end as fast as possible.

Naruto is back and forth in my opinion. It gets me bored for half a year, when I even stop reading it every week, and then something starts that makes me itch every day to see the next development. Like now. Mostly I still love it. I've hated all the characters in Naruto for a long time, but they grew on me and suddenly I just feel good seeing their faces every week. I want to know their stories.

I loved D.Gray Man. It was amazing. I called it my second favorite. I was seriously in love. But the mangaka ditched it in the middle of the story. She started publishing rarely, destroyed the quality of the story and then stopped. It was like a trauma to me.

And lets face it - Fairy Tail is fun but it is very dumb. Also I am not talking about minor mangas as this is offtopic.

BACK TO NS. It makes me laugh when people call tsundere behavior physically violent. It is one of the most pure comedic reliefs. Why do we see Naruto flying through the air with his teeth falling out and his head spilling blood only to then witness him all right and healthy in the next scene with his teeth intact and not brain injured? Because the real hitting doesn't happen. People don't hit each other like that in real Japan. It is unacceptable anywhere. Tsundere routine is just theatric, it is pseudo, exaggerated. It is classic. That is partly the reason why people in Japan don't hate Sakura as much as western fandom, they like her. NH is much less popular there. In the west people see Hinata as more compassionate and supportive. They cringe when Sakura is agressive towards Naruto. But in Japan people know their comedy routines. They even say that people, who are able to complete comedy routines with each other, complete each other's personalities. That is why Sakura isn't considered abusive. People laugh at her extreme tsundere scenes and think that she completes Naruto's personality. Tsundere can straighten the foolishness of the main hero and in Japanese perspective this is done in a funny manner, not in a violent way.

We actually see Naruto more injured in his "fights" with Sakura than ever in his real fights. In One Piece, for example, Luffy can't be injured by punches as he is made of rubber. But Nami's punches make him bleed all over. This can be a huge plot inconsistency if you think that the hitting is real. But it is not. Oda stated that the punches "work" because Nami doesn't really hit anyone, but it expresses how she herself hurts in her own heart out of worry and love. So the whole image of hitting is just an expression of her very deep and profound feelings and her getting through to the person (not literally in a violent way). Oda calls it "Love" (not a romantic one though).

After all that has happened, how can NS be deemed as a brother sister relationship? The answer to it is something which only the NH and SS fans know.....

Sakura is defenitely one of the main prominent supporters of Naruto. But Kishimoto has made Iruka sensei the one character who was the first to rescue Naruto from his darkness and stay there as his parent figure. He is the reason Naruto has chosen the path of love, not hatred like Sasuke. Iruka sensei always appears there when Nauruto needs someone the most, like when Ero-senin died and Naruto was emotionally devastated. Or remember the very end of RtN. Yes, Iruka sensei is less involved in Naruto's current affairs, but he is a solid foundation of Naruto's world.

Sasuke is also often portrayed by Kishimoto as the second character to acknowledge Naruto. Even though Sasuke never supported Naruto directly, he SAW Naruto very early on. He looked directly at Naruto and was the first one to notice his progress. In flashbacks of his past Naruto always remembers Sasuke as his second supporter chronologically. Sasuke was alone just as Naruto was and that made Naruto feel less lonely, Naruto  wanted to be his friend from very early on, but envied him and became his rival. Of course, now Sasuke is not near him, but he still makes Naruto grow. And he was the first one, I think, to take Naruto's ambitions seriously.

Sakura and Kakashi became supporters third roughly at the same time as Team 7 was formed and started developing. Sakura has always been pretty late to grasp Naruto. Actually Sasuke made her recognize Naruto and it happened after Naruto vs Gaara fight. Sasuke said "You've never really seen him before" and then Sakura looked at Naruto and her expression changed. Of course, she supported him before too and she didn't want to see his dream crushed, even if she thought that it won't be fulfilled, but in reality she was pretty late to really awaken to Naruto's real potential.

Sakura as we know her now, a very strong supporter, appeared at the beginning of Part 2 and grew up till this very moment in the manga. She is always with Naruto, on all the missions, so it is natural that she is more of help to him than even Kakashi, especially emotionally. She has witnessed the most of Naruto's development. And she certainly gives Naruto A LOT of strength just by being there and advancing with him. She understands his dream and his pain. But she is still unable to grasp him truly in many ways. As she wasn't able to grasp his feelings for her before Sai told her. And she didn't notice the extent of Naruto's dedication to the promise that he gave her. And she knew him bad enough to lie to him about her feelings, underestimating him like that (even though I think of that moment as one of the most strong evidences of NS happening). This is just what comes to mind.

Sakura is a big supporter of Naruto, but I think it would be unfair to not give credit of "biggest supporters" to Iruka, Sasuke or Kakashi, even if she spends more time with him. She started supporting him roughly at the same time as other Konoha 11 did, though her support is much deeper, because he is her teammate and they have a big mututal history. I still think that Iruka grasps Naruto better than she does. And that she has a long way to go.

I also think that Sakura represents Naruto's path towards his dream. The growth of her feelings mirrors the path of Naruto's will and growth, as his fight towards Hokage title (and everything that is implied in it) continues. Her feelings reflect Naruto's growth. She started off not seeing him at all (less than many around Naruto), then she witnesses him just as we all, readers, do, and developes her trust and respect over time. It then transcends into actual feelings, understanding and care. She still doesn't grasp him full. And love is also ahead just as the Hokage title.

I don't know why people consider Sakura as abusive. They really need to check up on the difference between being at tsundere and abusive. There are a ton of different mangas where the main ship includes the girl being a tsundere that I'm sure they ship, what makes Sakura any different?

She's an obstacle. They hate Sakura because of their ship.Lol when Sakura did CPR they say it's not romantic,it's her duty, but Levy did CPR they say it's romantic and they all gone nuts.

Seriously, they need to watch what they say, cause then it comes off as hypocritical. ( is that the correct term? correct me if I'm wrong ) I don't understand why they must hate Sakura with a passion just cause she's "in the way" of their ships. We don't hate Hinata cause she likes Naruto, it's just cause of her character. ( I do understand that not ALL Sakura haters hate her because of ships ) I respect if you hate Sakura, but don't put her on the same level as Hinata.

That turned into a whole different argument, whoops. But on the brighter side, Sakura's smiles are so cute.
