When you look at it from a  bigger picture Naruto is a great series from the beginning up to The Pain Arc. Everything else that comes afterwards gets really really questionable because it slowly but surely starts to decline in the quality of storytelling. Yeah there's the whole child of prophecy thing, but that didn't bug me as much as um well let's say the whole reincarnation of Ashura bullsh** cause that was clearly unplanned.

 

 

So basically that would mean Naruto from Volumes 1-48 (up to first 8 pages of 450) can easily be considered as the best. The reason why I say that is because Volumes 49-72 even though I like the whole Obito subplot it feels like filler in manga.

THAT I'm not surprised about. I'm more shocked about Sasuke being second b/c I've always thought that he is well-liked in the west... Guess I was wrong, lol. But the third guy! How the kitten did he score less then Sakura?!

Sasuke just has very rabid defenders. Mostly young women if NF is any hint. Which is more distressing in and of itself, but again "hot guy" defense.

 

Hinata is loved for her DD's and submissive nature, not much else. Hell she has almost no affect on the story till then ending, and that's only because "The Last" is suppose to be canon to the damn manga series.

Hinata just took over as my most hated ever I since I read about the last and how selfish she is. The difference between her and Hinata is that at least Yahagi when he was there making her question her love for Sasuke then Kishi ruined it, while Hinata just never changed.

EDIT: Damn is Shou Tucker actually lower than Sakura? You have GOT to be kidding me. Ugh what do they have against her? Seriously, she's not even a villain!! Far from it!  

 

When 693 came out over on NF the Anti-Sakura fanclub stock rose high. When the ending came out I joined it because I can't stand her "canon" ending. With Naruto Gaiden even a few former SS supporters joined because she's been sitting around for 13 years waiting for Sasuke-kun".

 

No one likes a woman who is suppose to be shown as strong, to instead be presented as some obsessed borderline mentally unstable worshiper, directed towards a guy who wasn't worth a damn in the first place.

 

A lot of people can't stand what she has become. Even those of us who like what she was, or what we may consider the "real" Sakura, doesn't mean we are going to cheer on what she became. Kishimoto ruined her character, the polls show it.

Or they might just have a legitimate gripe with her character. I mean, sometimes villains are some of the most liked characters in a series. I didn't mind Orochimaru. Aizen, Grimmjow, and Ulquiorra are some of my personal favorites in Bleach, and I'm pretty sure God Aizen has a pretty large and rabid fanbase. Sakura is the top of that list because she is easy to hate, and she has a lot of legitimate things that people hate her for.

It's not Sakura's place on that list that's telling, it's partially deserved (partially because I'm sure that there are kitten otaku's out there that hate her because her kittens are too small ), what's truly telling is the fact that 5 of the top 15 are Naruto characters as someone said a page ago or so. And it's no surprise that she, or anyone else on that list from Naruto, is there, as the ending recently happened. It has a bigger impact when the event is so recent. Whereas school days apparently finished a long time ago, Naruto finished recently, so all the negatives are more fresh in people's minds. For 5 of the top 15 to be Naruto means that Kishi truly sucks at writing endings.

I don't agree with it either, but I know why it is. People are genuinely pissed off about what has happened to Sakura though, the only defenders I know of her canon character are SS fangirls/fanboys. Combine that with the Hinata fanboys/girls who were already threatened by her, and it's not that surprising. Kishimoto did this to her, and honestly I doubt he cares.

ash ketchum is hated more than hinata? 0.o no, no way, no how, nada, N.O. that list is rigged, some fantards had to have spam voted that list or its made by people who don't watch much anime at all, there's no freaking way hinata is better than ash ketchum of pokemon xD I mean for crying out loud ash is a main character and the star of the pokemon anime and its been around for 18 freaking years, longer than hinata has been in existence or naruto and even before naruto even got popular at all and its more popular than naruto, this list is so rigged xD think about it, if ash was hated so much and he's THE main character, you'd think the series wouldn't be the same for 18 freaking years and ash would have been shafted for a new main character. this list is so messed up XD I should tell all the ash fanboys on youtube I can find, they'll have a field day on this lol in all seriousness, I may dislike the anime and how they develop ash so poorly but I don't hate him and I'm not stupid enough to deny that pokemon has a WAY bigger fanbase than naruto and that Ash is LOVED by countless fans, this list is so rigged xD

Villains often serve the point in the story to be hated, so it easy to understand why they at times are liked for that, even if they are hated for what they do.

 

When a character that was once loved becomes a complete waste, and in the end reverts, their character arc destroyed and the major redeeming qualities about them lost, well then you not only have disappointment in play but the feeling of outright betrayal.

 

The moment Kishimoto put that pouting lip on Sakura and had her ask if "she should come too..." with Sasuke her fandom feel apart.

She's the heroine, that's why she's so hated. Bad people doing awful things is expected and even a positive because it means they're doing their vilain's job right. Sakura failed at everything expected from a character with her role.

The problem isn't really anything past-693 since Sakura's always gotten this amount of hate, it's just people who can't get past her flaws and only see those flaws when looking at her. They don't see her accomplishments and changes throughout the entire manga....just her purposefully written (as well as old) flaws.

 

Even then, a now pathetic female lead who's obsessed with the antagonist is hated more than villains who've done crazy kitten? Joke! How does a character like that warrant this much hate? She hasn't done anything to harm anybody or those around her. She's not causing any suffering to anybody. It's all onto herself, yet she somehow manages to grab the #1 spot on "Most hated characters"? 

I don't think it's hard to understand. Like I said before the Hinata fanboys/fangirls always hated Sakura. Before 693 though Sakura did have a fanbase, after it though she mostly just has her SS supporters.

 

Now you got the people who originally hated her, with the long base of people who once loved her but now can't stand what she has become. He fanbase has collapsed outside a few diehard SS shippers.

 

The feeling of betrayal is a powerful emotion as any other.
