Kaguya could have been such a cool villain, but I never really felt like the stakes were high enough. The fight seemed anticlimactic after the exciting moment when Madara got his final "eye upgrade," stabbed Sakura, and seemed neigh-unbeatable. Plus, all the announcements and advertisements for The Last took away a lot of the natural tension in not knowing who is going to survive. By lowering the stakes and officially announcing an end date, the fight against Kaguya seemed like a hurdle to leap rather than a fitting end.

To me it all started going downhill with the war arc. Pretty cool concept. Let the current generation prove their worth in an actual war against the resurrected corpses of both old enemies and allies. Too bad it only ever really focused on Naruto and Sasuke. Too many missed opportunities. *cough* Sakura vs. Chiyo *cough*
Then the Kaguya arc happened. Stupid villain. Stupid attempt at a "creation myth". Stupid fight. Stupid ending.![]()
Too bad this whole concept of new generation surpassing old generation was thrown in the trash after they needed the help of the Dead kages

That could have worked as well. Then again, why give Sakura any actual focus? It's not like she's the heroine or anything.

Silly me! I forgot Kishimoto's number one lesson!!! Women have no place having actual prominence in battle 99% of the time.
Better go make a sammich...for myself
Seriously though, a Rematch between Sakura, Chiyo &/or Sasori would have been amazing. But this time she would do it without any strings attatched and show what she could really do all on her own.
LYS if you're reading...The Sasori Vs Sakura&Chiyo fight in the manga is going to be the longest podcast ever lol.
Pls shame me for procrastinating.

I think Kaguya could have been a great villain if she was planned to begin with, y'know, given some foreshadowing, expanding her backgroundKaguya could have been such a cool villain, but I never really felt like the stakes were high enough. One problem I also have with the war arc is Sasuke fighting together with the alliance. it would be a thousand times better if Sasuke fought Naruto near the end of the war (a true fight like the one at the valley of the end) and then only then, teamed up together with him to defeat the end villain

I'm different, I generally wait until I know more about a character before making a judgement on them, and once I do, it's either I like you, or I really don't care about you. I don't really ever hate characters, Sasuke pushed the envelope though, and I hate Hinata lol
I personally believe that everyone has an initial impression on someone. It's almost impossible in my eyes to remain indifferent on someone. May it be that person's appearance, or words, or character: Humans judge people (in this case fictional characters) base on what they are given whether they want to or not. That's what I honestly did when Obito got revealed his mask.
But if you were patient on more characterization for Obito, I understand that.
But hey, at least we both genuinely dislike Hinata

I got that feeling in my gut that something's off when the chapter with alliance rushing to the battlefield came out. You know the one with Sakura saying "we're all be there to fight with you... not just me" and zombienata's "I will stop chasing you and hold your hand" BS. I still remember how stressed I was while reading it and couldn't sleep that night because my heart was raising for no apparent reason. THE SAME HAPPENED TO ME AFTER READING 698. I read it and was like "okay, cool... SN fight is finally over!" but before going to bed my heart started raising again!!! I dunno why... I was calm all day, been thinking about various scenarios of NS becoming canon, but I couldn't sleep that night and was all anxious. Lol, now that I look bad at things it was probably some kind of omen that was trying to tell me that nothing good will work out at the end of the series. So weird. XD

That war arc. It was so bad. So so bad. I mean, some handpicked chapters and moments are not included in my hatred, but the rest of the war arc was just horrible. Everything was just so bad. That war had such a huge potential to be something great, but it ended up being so boring and bland that I honestly only vaguely remember what happened. So many background stories, some of them for characters we've never even seen before. Ugh, horrible.
Indeed. Cool concept. Horrible execution. That's seems to be the primary theme when it comes to Kishi's writing. Lots of potential that just doesn't go anywhere.
They should have trimmed it down. We didn't need anymore flashbacks with Ei and Bee. We also probably didn't need to hear about Gai's dad. Then again, SP probably urged Kishi to insert those flashbacks so that they could make a filler arc out of them. Calling it now.
Too bad this whole concept of new generation surpassing old generation was thrown in the trash after they needed the help of the Dead kages
Yup. Another theme sacrificed on the altar of popularity.
Lys and I thought a rematch between Sasori and Sakura would have been better....
It was in the Podcast, but I think I cut it out.
I listened to it yesterday and I'm sure I you mention it somewhere around the 30 to 40 min mark. I don't remember it clearly though.

Yes, Obito was better to be the ultimate villain for various reasons. Also because Kaguya had the personality of a potato and clearly she was an asspull to justify the excessive power given to Madara. Exactly a year ago, Hiretsu-sensei had admitted to having made Madara too powerful and didn't know how to do for defeating him. Yeah, the defeat of Kaguya was cool, given that the team 7 was depicted almost as a Tr1n1ty in that panel, but the character itself was really awful. It's clear that Hiretsu-sensei hasn't even tried so much about her. Kaguya was just a bad excuse to give a definitive closure to the story of the team 7. Because from hence team 7 doesn't exsist anymore, just as Kakashi stated during the fight ("This is our last mission as team seven!").
In my opinion, it would have been cooler with Obito as the ultimate villain, even for several parallels between the team Kakashi and the team Minato. Obito was the Naruto of the past, he had the same feelings as Naruto's in the present and Kakashi was a scum like Sasuke, more or less. Minato and the current Kakashi are both cool sensei but not without faults. Naruto vs Obito, or better Naruto vs the Naruto of the past would have been more reasonable and cool as the final battle of the story for the team 7, obviously excluding the inevitable and final confrontation with Sasuke (due to the prophecy of the sage toad that had to be accomplished).

I had an initial impression, of course, but I really didn't let it sway me until I learned about Obito, then I really started to like him. His voice in the dub was an epic voice though. It was so badass lol
Yeah, I absolutely despise her XD
