Uh, Do you feel this week's chapter was only for a shock factor? It's interesting, but really poorly set up and again having both Mermaid heel and Sabertooth taken out is pointless Melodrama cause we don't see any of the other guilds losing that badly. Plus this is REALLY undoing that speech Sting was saying about rebuilding Sabertooth into a proper guild. Yes, they are shaping into a group that would care for each other but at the same time, all this poor performance means that they did not disprove Jiemma's philosophy which is poor taste. 

Well when you look it that way, that's understandable. The idea is that good side is wearing thin, especially since you see other FT members that fought are just on standby. There's 6 Spirggan left and they already seem to struggle despite how easy it was on-screen wise. Funny how that works now I think about it. Plus, August is being hyped more than I thought, so it seems like everything is nearing the climax. Hopefully, we don't get 10 bosses out of nowhere like Zeref was controlled by Acnologia, only to be controlled by END, only to be controlled by THE END, only to be controlled by THE REAL END, only to be controlled by THE TRUE END, and so on.

Basically, the idea is the army is wearing thin. Though right now, my fear is the current fight. Cena time?

Well, probably won't be reading FT for a week or two, or at least until this fight is over. I have absolutely zero interest in seeing Simon, even if dead, having his character stepped on again, all for the sake of Jellal, Erza, and their relationship again. I've got no interest in Erza just casually brushing away the fact that Jellal murdered Simon again, and I have zero interest in seeing Jellal go for another redemption quest. His character is trash, and Erza is right there with him. These next couple of chapters are gonna be garbage.

All I learnt in this chapter was that apparently Erza doesn't just defeat her foes she leaves them dead. Many of the other enemies defeated have come back alive so I'd just assumed it was a typical Shounen and they were all alive. I really don't feel the dispair Hiro-sensie is trying to make us feel with the enemies, specially against Erza, these are all enemies she defeated when she was weaker so I expect soon as she finds out Kagura saved Jellal, she'll overcome the odds and win.

 

Hoping this doesn't end up as a long battle, the whole brining back the dead, I've had enough of it from Naruto, don't care if I never read that ever again. Ur making a return is a bit more interesting, though I thought he'd dealt with her death on the monster island. Maybe he needs the push to commit to Juvia's advances.

The most annoying thing is that the whole "save Jellal" bit was basically a throwback to the time Erza became really arrogant and believed she had the right to tell people who they're allowed to hate. It's actually kinda sickening lol

I have literally zero interest in this fight. It's gonna be the same formula as usual: Erza stands zero chance + Jellal "please pity me" mindset + Erza "you must pity Jellal" + Erza random strength out of nowhere = end of fight.

I wasn't gonna read the chapter, but forgot and read it.

Oh come on, he actually fed Lucy to Igneel?  This was funny, but it also reminded me why NaLu is no longer my otp. I mean, I still love it, but I always feel like Lucy is the one crushing on Natsu and could really start to love him, while from Natsu, we get... well, nothing. Or at least, nothing that could be interpreted as any more than friendship. Heck, his relationship with her in the actual manga also started because he was using her for something.

 

Okay, sorry, just ignore my shipper rant, I guess the wound from NasuSaku is still fresh, even though it should have mostly healed by now. Ah the trouble with pink-haired characters.

I know, I'm a bit tired of the whole thing as well, but I guess it was about time for a Jerza moment or something? We haven't had that in a while. I don't really mind that fact, but I mind that I was just getting psyched about what was so strong to annihilate two guilds and what could 5 members (2 of which aren't that strong fighters) do about it. Can we just go back to that?

So I still haven't read the latest chapter, but Volume 53 did come out and I decided to check out what Hiro had written in his afterword notes.  Everything I've read was pretty interesting and it is confirmed we're at the endgame:

It's sad for me to say it, but lately the chapters haven't been measuring up like it should for endgame arcs. In fact, it's beginning to look a lot like the final saga in Nardo. But on the other hand, the Big 500 is still looming..... Which could be the turning point of the war. Mashima usually does something big in the milestone chapters.

I'd guess that the reason why this arc has been so lackluster is because Mashima is trying to give the spotlight to other characters before we go into the 3-way showdown between END-Zeref-Acnologia.
