I've always interpetated that Sakura's feelings for Sasuke are of love, but of a more platonic love now since the vision of him she fell for was not necessarily fitting to reality. And she wanted to save him too because of her believing that there was hope for him to be the person he and Naruto respected and cared for. With Naruto, I've said and felt her feelings have been wishy-washy at first, due to her not being honest about what she wanted, before she grew up a lot to become Tsunade's apprentice and all.

I don't think Sakura was using Naruto's feelings personally, Goku. I think she genuinely wanted to confess because she was concerned for him, and knew telling him the truth about the Leaf 11 deciding to kill Sasuke would break his heart. And she likely felt she needed to realize her own feelings for him when she confessed, even if Naruto threw it back in her face because of how it came off, as well as his assuming she's still madly in love with Sasuke.

Her confession was real but she said it in the wrong place at the wrong time. Sakura clearly said at 459 that she doesn't want to make another mistake, now would it lying to Naruto that she loves him so that she goes running to Sasuke and tells him she loves him for real and not Naruto will be making another mistake? huh.gif that's how a lot of N/H fans think and believe it will happen in the manga but I seriously doubt Kishi is developing Sakura's character to turn her into the biggest b**** of the manga. dry.gif otherwise she wouldn't be the lead female and heroine. happy.gif

About 470 when Sakura leaves Naruto saying "I'm sorry" its obvious that she decided to kill Sasuke agreeing with the rest of the rookies because she wants to prevent a war from happening as well as protecting Naruto. She doesn't care if Naruto ends up hating her for making the decision as long as he's safe and sound. To Sakura Naruto's safety is the most important thing that matters to her in the world more than Sasuke that's a fact. smile.gif

Graven basically beat me to the punch on your first question, Goku. I myself think Sakura loves Sasuke in some form as I've said, but not romantically like she did at 12/13. She has grown up a lot, and she wanted to save Sasuke to help Naruto as well. She cares for both naruto and Sasuke so much, hence her decision to kill Sasuke. She wants to save Sasuke from himself, and protect Naruto from him and the Akatsuki, since Sasuke is an associate of the Akatsuki's, and so in turn, he's considered one of them since he's affliating himself with a known criminal organization.

In the end, Sakura wants Naruto safe no matter the cost. On the other hand, Naruto just wants things back to normal, even if it seems rather impossible right now, regardless of his desire to be like the Naruto in Legend of a Gutsy Ninja, or his desire to never go back on his word. And let's face it, I feel that Naruto's desire to save Sasuke isn't as he said he wanted to save Sasuke for himself, but I think deep down it's also mostly because he assumes Sakura still loves him.

I just wonder if Naruto's gonna be able to grow up and realize that keeping Sasuke alive just to save him from himself is the wrong decision, since we've seen Sasuke doesn't wish to be saved... and only cares about his own desires, such as casting the world into darkness just because he's suffering from the truth. It doesn't help too that no one has helped comforted Naruto with all this information, or the fact he always is keeping things inside rather than letting them out. That's what's making this so much worse on him, considering how much pain and sadness Sasuke's caused him, and how angry he must feel toward him, besides the anger others have felt toward him.

Someone had said that Sai only said that because it'd be the only way Naruto would listen due to his assumptions of Sakura still being in love with Sasuke. XD I dunno who, but I remember someone here saying that, Goku.

You bet your buns I will pictureem0.gif I'm working on something else right now, but I've added it to my list of things to do...

Anyways, to digress, something's been troubling me;

In the JF Interview, Kishi said he'd refrain from writing any romance for Shikamaru. You all know that.

Well, I reread vol. 20, and realized how much his romantic development has gone to waste. All the things his father said to him, his actions, etc... It makes me think, "Is this the same for NaruSaku?" If Kishi can so easily scrap all that development... Could NaruSaku be the same way, too?

Thoughts?

NaruSaku has gotten more development than any Shika pairing.

Not doing NaruSaku would leave a giant plot hole arg.gif

Hopefully, Kishi will come through.

let me play devils advocate a little bit. especially given Kishimoto senseis latest interview about Sakura being an honest girl.

it may very well be that Sakura was using Narutos feelings for her in a certain way.

Shocked? yeat I know i was when I came to the revelation, but trust me theirs madness to my method =>_o=

I believe Sakura looked at it from this persepctive. to her i think she was looking at it as kind of a "killing two birds with one Kunai" type of deal.

She had accepted sasuke couldnt be saved, she had accepted that naruto loves her, to her she felt naruto needed to be protected from the rookies decision about sasuke, and by extension the Akatsuki hunting him, and she wanted to let him know she was open to his feelings.

To Sakura who is a very logical thinker, this must have presented to her as an opportunity to as i said before kill several birds with one well thrown kunai knife.

She would profess her own feelings to Naruto, and by proxy let him know she was open to his advances, and with his acceptance she would get him someplace safe away from Sasuke and Akatsuki, and more importantly proctect his feelings from the hurt of the rookies decision.

All told for someone like Sakura a nice eloquent solution. she protects naruto and acknowledges his feleings all in one shot. wha she didnt expect or at least didnt expect to be so harsh was his rejection of her dismissal of Sasuke.

I imagine she expected him to be unbeleiveing at first and thus had her arguments well thought out in advance, true arguments since everything she said was the truth, but more than sufficent.

yet she was suprised at Narutos stubborn resistance to her. Naruto still viewing her through the lense of team 7 and of course still seeing her as little Sakura could not accept what was happening to her.

Its not that he ""Saw through her bs"" as anti NS fans claim. he didnt. it was that he refused to see her as anything else. he viewed her from the rose colored lenses of early team 7. when she came and did as she did she shattered that image of her.

Twin enigma wrote a story recently entitled Five by Five that to me very accurately explains some of the psyche behind the events of 469-470.

As to Sakura she has accepted that Sasuke will a not love her, she has accepted that now she has to stop him in order to save him from the darkness, and in order to Save Naruto who she promised to save as well. She has accepted ((in her mind and persepctive)) that this sacrafice of Sasuke will almost certainly cost her, her life, and will cost her, her heart as ((again to her mind)) she more than likely feels like Naruto will hate her for her decision and is willing to accept that loss to save him.

for Sakura whose love for Sasuke was born on that bench scene in chapter 3, she has held onto that illusion of Sasuke for all this time. She (( i feel)) needs to confront Sasuke to save him and naruto and by proxy she may feel that she can confront him one last time about what happend that day in chapter 3. perhaps she can save sasuke though i dont think she will give him more then a single chance to accept her and Konoha.

The confrontation between her and Sasuke may ((i stress May)) turn into a full on fight. but their is also the possibility that it may not, as Madara may not allow it to get that far.

What I want to see and what i hypothesize may happen given certian events, is that Sakura and Karin will confront eahc other.

BUT THEY WILL NOT FIGHT. Period end of statement. thats not what Karins character is based on.

what Karin will do is show Sakura in contrast what her feelings for Naruto are and may even help her accept the truth in some ways. Karin is someone who tells it like it is. shes blunt and straight forwards.

Im even more convinced that Karin is going to play a crucial role in the upcoming chapters. both in Sasukes redemption, and in Sakuras confrontation with Sasuke.

Wow Catsi wow.png you hit the nail on the head with that one your theory rocks and it makes perfect sense. I agree about the Sakura Karin confrontation. Lots of S/S fans expect one big cat fight for Sasuke's heart rolleyes.gif but I don't think that will happen. I believe Sakura will find out about the truth of the bench scene from ch 3 and once she finds out that it was Naruto who gave her the compliment on her forehead exactly what she wanted to be said she will accept Naruto for good. smile.gif

@catsi

The image what I've gotten about Sakuras resolution towards Sasuke is a bit more direct: To me, the last straw keeping Sasukes image from breaking was cut when Shikamaru and the rest 11 judged Sasuke to death. Now Sakura feels she's the only one cabable killing Sasuke without leaving Naruto in pain because of his promise bringing Sasuke back and that's because Naruto made that promise so Sasuke could come back to Konoha FOR Sakura. I still believe that Sakura haven't had any true hope, aside her believe for Naruto succeeding, for bringing Sasuke back after the retrieval squad returned to Konoha.
I share you're and enigmas view about Narutos shattered image of Team 7 and especially that Sakura really has grown up. Maybe this realisation will make Naruto to open up towards Sakura about his feelings.

Yes I think her feelings are very real. Catsi has really hammered the importanse of the bench scene to my head so I believe it will be concluded also, something like "why did you say/behave like that when it all was left behind after that" etc..
Things what Sakura said to Naruto are very difficult to make from thoughts to words. Also I think Sakura simplified things too much and also things left unsaid confused Naruto (and us readers) as much as what was said!
