let me play devils advocate a little bit. especially given Kishimoto senseis latest interview about Sakura being an honest girl.
it may very well be that Sakura was using Narutos feelings for her in a certain way.
Shocked? yeat I know i was when I came to the revelation, but trust me theirs madness to my method =>_o=
I believe Sakura looked at it from this persepctive. to her i think she was looking at it as kind of a "killing two birds with one Kunai" type of deal.
She had accepted sasuke couldnt be saved, she had accepted that naruto loves her, to her she felt naruto needed to be protected from the rookies decision about sasuke, and by extension the Akatsuki hunting him, and she wanted to let him know she was open to his feelings.
To Sakura who is a very logical thinker, this must have presented to her as an opportunity to as i said before kill several birds with one well thrown kunai knife.
She would profess her own feelings to Naruto, and by proxy let him know she was open to his advances, and with his acceptance she would get him someplace safe away from Sasuke and Akatsuki, and more importantly proctect his feelings from the hurt of the rookies decision.
All told for someone like Sakura a nice eloquent solution. she protects naruto and acknowledges his feleings all in one shot. wha she didnt expect or at least didnt expect to be so harsh was his rejection of her dismissal of Sasuke.
I imagine she expected him to be unbeleiveing at first and thus had her arguments well thought out in advance, true arguments since everything she said was the truth, but more than sufficent.
yet she was suprised at Narutos stubborn resistance to her. Naruto still viewing her through the lense of team 7 and of course still seeing her as little Sakura could not accept what was happening to her.
Its not that he ""Saw through her bs"" as anti NS fans claim. he didnt. it was that he refused to see her as anything else. he viewed her from the rose colored lenses of early team 7. when she came and did as she did she shattered that image of her.
Twin enigma wrote a story recently entitled
Five by Five that to me very accurately explains some of the psyche behind the events of 469-470.
As to Sakura she has accepted that Sasuke will a not love her, she has accepted that now she has to stop him in order to save him from the darkness, and in order to Save Naruto who she promised to save as well. She has accepted ((in her mind and persepctive)) that this sacrafice of Sasuke will almost certainly cost her, her life, and will cost her, her heart as ((again to her mind)) she more than likely feels like Naruto will hate her for her decision and is willing to accept that loss to save him.
for Sakura whose love for Sasuke was born on that bench scene in chapter 3, she has held onto that illusion of Sasuke for all this time. She (( i feel)) needs to confront Sasuke to save him and naruto and by proxy she may feel that she can confront him one last time about what happend that day in chapter 3. perhaps she can save sasuke though i dont think she will give him more then a single chance to accept her and Konoha.
The confrontation between her and Sasuke may ((i stress May)) turn into a full on fight. but their is also the possibility that it may not, as Madara may not allow it to get that far.
What I want to see and what i hypothesize may happen given certian events, is that Sakura and Karin will confront eahc other.
BUT THEY WILL NOT FIGHT. Period end of statement. thats not what Karins character is based on.
what Karin will do is show Sakura in contrast what her feelings for Naruto are and may even help her accept the truth in some ways. Karin is someone who tells it like it is. shes blunt and straight forwards.
Im even more convinced that Karin is going to play a crucial role in the upcoming chapters. both in Sasukes redemption, and in Sakuras confrontation with Sasuke.
