Here's the thing, if Hinata were to change, if she were to become stronger, if she were to rely on her own strengths, if she were to finally begin examining herself (as Sakura has done throughout the manga), THEN I might be OK with Hinata becoming an adviser to Naruto in some official capacity at least in theory.  The problem is, as written it seems that much of this growth will happen off pannel, and that's why it would still greatly bother me.  Unlike Shino and TenTen, Hinata has had a much greater focus, yet she's changed very little, and when it seems like she'll make progress, she takes multiple steps backwards --falling backwards isn't a bad thing, it doesn't make me dislike a character in and of itself, it's something that I like about Sakura, I like that Sakura has to struggle to improve-- but Hinata is incredibly self-unaware.  She's so far gone at the moment, that she's more socially inept than Sai, it would just be very hard to believe that she'll self-reflect, and become so accomplished that she's lead and represent the Hyuuga and become an adviser to Naruto, that anything Hinata could (offer other than an inside view with regards to specifically Hyuuga and general clan politics) would warrant that she be given such a position.  Shikamaru, he could handle both (leading a clan and becoming an adviser), Kiba wouldn't be leading a clan, and Sai could offer Naruto insight into a side of Konoha and a side of being ninja that Naruto is unfamiliar with.

So I mentioned in another post that much of this chapter reminded me of the dynamic between Naruto-Sakura-Shikamaru back during Konoha's invasion in part 1, upon thinking about this chapter further I'm begining to understand a bit more why Kishi had Sakura and Shikamaru working together to decipher Jiraiya's code just before Pain's invasion of Konoha.  Back then it didn't make sense to me, I didn't understand why Sakura wasn't aiding Shizune with the autopsy, but came up with the explanation that maybe  Tsunade wanted her apprentices involved with both main aspects of the investigation (and to further the notion that Team 10 is Team 7/Kakashi's sister team to some degree), now it seems that it was meant to established a work-relationship between Sakura and Shikamaru.  That established that they could work together, and this chapter (along with many others, like the chapters with Sakura's speech and Shikamaru's speech which were incredibly similar) to some degree furthered the notion that they'll be working with each other  --after all, these are the two people who not only understand Naruto, but also are capable of grounding him (in different ways, obviously), yet are his equals (not his teachers).  They are also the two who would/could function as his brains (Naruto is smart/creative in the moment, but in general?  He's still tat adorable little dummy), Shikamaru as a tactitian, Sakura in her ability to memorize/retain information.

I somehow have this image in my head that should Shikamaru be preoccupied in something (missions or sick leave), when Naruto goes to another Kage summit, Temari takes Shikamaru's usual role. Naruto would be even more terrified of Temari than Sakura and I can see her always whacking him upside the head repeatedly in the meetings. With a sweatdropping Gaara looking on, and Kankuro snickering throughout the whole meeting.

Hey guys! If anybody was interested, mangapanda's version of Kiba's panel has the correct translation (referring to Kiba becoming Hokage and Shikamaru becoming his advisor). mangastream's version was weird anyways.

 

Also reread the chapter. The first time I read it, I wasn't all that happy, but I had time to sit down and read it thoroughly and I kept liking it more. I'm especially proud of Ino, her role in the war, and I like that she expressed her thanks to Sakura because she also put effort into saving Shikamaru, I don't know why fans (who are reasonable about Sakura) are giving her less credit. AND I missed Tobirama's panels, how did that happen?!?! I must have been really tired during the first time read haha.

 

I bet next chapter will be all Naruto and Sasuke battling Juubito. I always like chapters that show the other characters though

Sorry to bring yet another topic like this.  If there is a more suitable place for this kind of discussion, please tell me.  I just got peeved finding something like that.  Thank goodness the majority were people who thought that was bulllcrap and put a whole lot of evidence to state the contrary, but there were few who actually agreed, and no doubt they were Sasuke "fans".

He wouldn't be useless but Sage Mode alone would only carry him so far. It's thanks to Kurama's chakra that he has managed to handle himself throughout the majority of this war. Without it the Alliance would have to seek another means to uncover the White Zetsu ploy since emotion sensing would be impossible. Many more casualties might have been suffered since the protective bijuu shroud wouldn't be available to keep shinobi alive in the recent fight.

I thought so! Looks like mangastream changed the translation of that panel, though, haha.

I don't know how this is relevant. The same argument can very well be used against anyone in any circumstance. Kakashi would be useless without Obito (and therefore wouldn't have his trademark Sharingan which get him to be known as the Copy-Ninja). Sasuke would be useless without his Uchiha heritage. Goku would be useless if he weren't a Saiyan. You got the logic (or the lack of it).

 

The author has chosen to give these characters such "powers" so they could fulfill their plot roles and therefore their purpose within the story.  It makes absolutely no sense to argue that if you change or remove a significant and meaningful part of the story, things would be different. No kitten Sherlock.

 

But if it were to be that Naruto doesn't have the Kyuubi, then it simply wouldn't be the story Masashi Kishimoto is writing and I enjoy following anymore. So honestly I couldn't care less.

Although it was mentioned as a plot device in a likely NS future moment, I really just see it as a normal outcome given the situation Sakura is at the moment. It is to be expected her clothes to be dirty and her hair to be messy. 

 

But yeah, deep inside I too want it to mean something Naruto related. But I do not expect it to happen this way.

Uh, seriously. They're the same. I don't see how they're different.

You're refering to the Shino part, right?

 

Beforehand I was confused, but now I think it's that Akamaru was sad because Kiba wasn't considering him to be his advisor and Shino made him feel better by saying that Kiba could have more advisors. It would be pretty hilarious to have a dog advisor though.

 

I just want to make sure that's how it is because in previous chapters Shino straight up told Kiba to shut it because no one (except for Hinata) was listening to him. So I would've expected Shino to tell Kiba to stop it with the Hokage thing again as a sort of recurring joke between them.

So, as megi told you, MP was alright. Silly Kiba

Shino's words are as you read... Imho, Shino was trying to comfort Akamaru since it felt a bit hurt by these Kiba's words to Shikamaru. Akamaru felt being ignored and Shino has just comforted it by saying that 3 advisors should be fine. The funny fact that there's a subliminal message. Shino hates to be ignored, especially by Naruto and I think he's still bearing a grudge against that Sasuke rescue Saga in the first part. Since Shino tried a bit of empathy for Akamaru, he tried to comfort it because he was trated in the same way as Akamaru too: being ignored by Kiba, like Akamaru, about the  question of being his advisors.

In a short, for Shino it should be -> Kiba: Hokage (in his dreams maybe xD) and Akamaru, Shikamaru and Shino: advisors.

I think Shino, Shikamaru, Ino, Sakura and Tenten are good advisors for Hokage. They're smart and think critically.

I'm pretty sure she just kept being a ninja, even holding a special rank thanks to her status as a Jinchuriki. The reason we might've gotten the wrong impression is that the flashbacks of adult Kushina are focused on the time during her pregnancy. And she sure as heck won't be going to ninja missions carrying a baby inside her.

 

Road to Ninja already showed us that AU!Kushina just kept working as a ninja after having Menma so there's no reason to believe the actual Kushina wouldn't do the same.
