She only fell in love with the Sasuke that was Naruto, That is why Catsi keep saying the bench scene is so important. Naruto (in the guise of Sasuke) said all the things she wanted Sasuke to say but as we know it was naruto but Sakura to this day thinks it was Sasuke.
She won't move on so to speak until she knows the truth of the matter.
Her love for Sasuke is based on a lie
The resolution of the bench scene seems like a very interesting idea to me. Here was my problem with it initially though. If Sakura was over Sasuke, and had already fallen in love with Naruto, why would resolving that scene be relevant? Some people have said it would make Sakura love Naruto more. Well, that seems pretty pointless, if it's simply an order of magnitude. I can't see why would even need that scene if she had already moved on.
But then 540 came out. And it looks like Sakura's not over Sasuke, at least completely. This makes a potential resolution of this scene much more relevant. She already knows Naruto loves her, so if she were to find out Naruto has understood her, even from the beginning, and was the one complimenting her biggest insecurity, I can easily see this finally resolving Sakura's feelings.
And, although I didn't really think it was all that important initially, the fact that Kushina also had physical insecurity complimented by Minato sort of proved to me that the bench scene will get a resolution. I mean how many female characters in the series have had an insecurity about their physical appearance? The parallel seems uncanny.
So although that panel in 540 was definitely bad for our pairing from a short-term perspective, I think it might actually be a good setup for us in the long-term. We'll see how it plays out though. I still can't see that one panel being a stand-alone panel.
