Indeed, it about his love. His love for Itachi is what makes him sacrifice everything. The chapter itself it's called 'Sacrifice'. I don't think he cares 0% about them. But he cares 100000000000000% about Itachi. He's cold. He put everything in a balance and he doesn't doubt.

But don't take me wrong, even if this is true, that doesn't mean i support SK and SS as couples. Because, they can be sacrified. 

Sasuke went from Zabuza last moments to Zabuza when he trained Haku as a shield.

So do you say that...he doesn't care about Itachi but he loves him? Uhmmm.

Sasuke explained it. Those were Itachi's wishes, not Sasuke's. Maybe you would try to do what someone you love wanted, but you can't expect that from anyone. If the wishes of that person harmed them, would you EASILY keep trying to do it? Sasuke explained it. He couldn't stand that Konoha's happiness was because Itachi's sacrifice. Itachi sufered because of them. And do you want Sasuke to protect them? Hearing how they call him traitor and garbage? Can you tell me that that's easy? You can judge about how he went against Itachi's wishes, but you are expecting him react like Naruto.

God, even Naruto wanted to kill Nagato first. When he decided to not do it, he understood Sasuke's suffering and desire of revenge.

Then again, I won't excuse him for use everyone as sacrifice. Morally, we can 'agree' that that's is not the way. But we neither can ignore facts.
