Even if The Last hasn't actually surpassed RtN yet, the fact that it's grossed over half of what RtN garnered throughout its lifespan in only one week is pretty concerning. 

 

well there is a lot of others factors in this too.

1)This movie was extremely marketed, some of its marketing was even false and misleading

2) Fans who grew up with Naruto would want to see being "the last movie" even if they stopped to follow the story during some time

3) No refunds allowed

4)Also, the fact that the tickets were already selling early when little was know about the movie.

And gross income doesn't matter, operating income does

It just surpassed RTN in comparision with the first days of each movie man

Rtn made 1.48 billion, that's last made 550 million in the first days. Right now it might be 800/900 million as many here said

SP spent $1 billion on RTN & net collectiom was $1.48 billion
it's successful
