Anyone catch the latest chapter. Just another example of how Mashima is just better at developing female characters than Kishi... Even when they're in various states of undress.

Seriously, a strong enemy that can singlehandedly take out a big chunk of the guild and she was responsible for ensuring that she and Natsu didn't get taken out too. Besides saving the both of them, she's fighting along side Natsu and holding her own. That simultaneous hit they both got in shows that, even if they're not equal in strength, they're equal partners in battle.

That simultaneous hit they both got in shows that, even if they're not equal in strength, they're equal partners in battle.

Latest chapter is a great example to why Mashima is horrible writer to shonen, what saved both of them is comedic relief of grand size, because other way that assasin would kill both, but wow! He uses useless move that is working against him, that's funny hahaha! (NO  )

Other than that - maybe you right about development, but that's such a thin layer that behind undresing Lucy and making her (what time it is? 9000?) fanservice object it's hard to be seen properly.

Well it's not good development. BUT IT WAS GOOD SHIP TEASE!!!!!!   Yeah the idea was stupid and sexist, but the fact that Natsu is saying he's used to seeing Lucy naked says something to me lol.

 

I just hope the fight becomes more serious. But Overall Mashima is infinitely better at treating his females compared to some others. Naruto for sure. And also Sword Art Online because I read somewhere that the reason the writer makes all girls fall for the Marty Stu is because he doesn't know how to write them otherwise. 

 

Fairy Tail may fanservice the hell out of it's females but at least they are portrayed as strong, independent and likable overall, and don't suffer  that double standard slapstick crap most other anime/manga does to death

Lucy's actions this chapter might just be the greatest moment in the manga, because it wasn't just about nakama power giving them a boost to overcome their foe, but actual outsmarting the foe using the tools they had.

It's a shame because really with Spriggan 12, they lack aura of fear on how menacing they can be, but the action does require more teamwork and clever than thinking of friendship and boom, God mode. Though that could change with Erza but we'll see.

She already graduated from it long ago when she summoned the freaking Spirit King, which should well put her damn near Makarov's level if it weren't for the heavy cost. But Aquarius' claim about Anna being the strongest CS mage in history may hint that there is a way gain the Spirit King's power without the heavy cost. Presumably using Stardress.

Actually, I always thought she was helpful early on, but Tartarus Arc is what put her on the mat. I just think use of fan service for her overshadowed her accomplishments to some fans. I can see why but unlike Sakura, there are highlighted moments that stick out and not bombarded with something neglectful.

Oh I agree. This chapter was sooo good! I was afraid Natsu would have the spotlight in this chapter, but boy was I wrong. Mashima maybe isn't the complete best when it comes to writing female characters, he does make mistakes, but he's light years away from Kishi's incompetence. Now I wish he would make Levy do something important, we haven't seen anything memorable from her in a while.

 

Oh, while I'm on the subject of Levy, what's this talk about Gajevy twins I see on tumblr? Can someone fill me in?
