i applaud you shadow. 4 stars! pein was my favorite villain in this series bar none. madara was fun but he seemed like he only enjoyed the war like a playground while peace seemed like a secondary thought. anyone who says "but orochimaru-," i'll only give credit to him cuz he manage to be the only villain to get away with it all. he's THAT guy. but still, he's boring. yeah he's scary but not that deep. pein, he was deep. not the deepest i've seen in other shows like sensui or toguro from yuyu hakusho

A secret shinobi mission to "Find Naruto and Hinata a wedding gift"
lee the mvp
Can.... can people really not see how this series has been corrupted to the point where killer ninja are being ordered by the most powerful Assassin Leader in the world in the most powerful Assassin village to FIND A WEDDING GIFT.
That is trash writing, where the focus is on trashy pairing drama, trashy fanservice, and the most forgettable villains who are generally gone by the next episode
fix'd, don't insult the shoujo genre like that.

Allow me to give these people a story of mine. A true story.
Once upon a time, I was here yesterday, wondering how people would react upon the "good" news for the sales. So I have to explore places for a possible early numbers. No luck. So I found one site that shows the ranking. It didn't have a sale numbers, but it's definitely it. Now, I remember which series is being released on that week. A lot really. One of them is Haikyuu!!, a popular series that gets 400,000+ sales in its first week. So looking at the list, I see it placed at #3. Who's #2?
Naruto Gaiden.
I had an expression of Shinpachi, when Gin failed at a cool entrance. Don't know what is that? Search for "Gin failed entrance" in YouTube. Attack on Titan was #1, but that doesn't help because it's always high selling series that can reach a million if not near. So I only thought, "It's ok. We just need t-t-time machine!" But no use. There's none. So I can only think "Maybe Haikyuu!! sales got lowered. Yeah..." But how cruel am I to think that. So I just wait for the next day, hoping everything is ok.
The next day that is today arrived and I waited for hours for it. So when it was out, I remember the ranking. So I decided to look at Haikyuu!! first to wonder if it's 300,000 or 400,000. I remember rocci telling us that it will get 500,000. It is possible, but for people's sake, I like him to get it wrong. Yes, it is cruel, but I want these guys to be happy. So I look at it and...
It got 500,000+.
My immediate reaction is "GO TO HELL!" So I look at others and that was that. You may be thinking, "This is Haikyuu!! fault to already give you no hope!" That may be true, but anything can happen. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. So I don't blame Haikyuu!! for the sales. It's just the name and market together helped. So I await to see how much can it garner.
That said...
*Beat the crap out of Haikyuu!!* YOU BASTARD!!! HOW DARE YOU ALREADY GAVE ME NO HOPE WITH YOUR SERIES BEING POPULAR AND ALWAYS SOLD MORE THAN 400,000 IN A WEEK, YOU BASTARD!!! WHY YOU HAVE A FACE OF "MY JOB HERE IS DONE"?!?!?! *Continues to beat down. The visual is presented in Gintama Episode 88, where Gin and Kagura beat down Toujo for doing nothing*
The End
.........Why you are putting Gintama here?.....don't mistreat Gintama....

@Kotaku. Naruto is a terrible father...
He was supposed to be the person that knew the most what loneliness and not having a family meant. His dream of Hokage in reality meant having people to be connected with and being part of society. The real Naruto would have probably find a way to lessen the paper work and being more a down to earth Homage. His strength has always been to be close to other people and that's potentially what made him superior to his predecessors.
Hinata sucks kitten as a wife as well and can't discipline neither Boruto or Naruto. Kushina and Sakura would have probably smashed the wall of his office to get his ass to diner.

The thing is that before the oneshot you could justify Bolt's brattiness. You know when we thought Naruto was hokage for several years. So people could say that Bolt feels Naruto is neglecting his family for years focusing on the village more than them. Meaning the village was more important to Naruto than his family. So bolts acts out to complain to Naruto and to make him pay attention to his family. Here Bolt Salad and the daughter are all exactly how they looked in the gaiden meaning he hokage by the time of the gaiden for maybe a year at most. So instead of focusing on his job for years and neglecting his family it come of to me as Naruto is acclimating to a new very important job that he wants to do well in and he still balancing out family and work by the time we see him. Also his family has always been a dysfunctional mess with his kids being spoil little brats. Since he was at home for the first 10-11 years of his marriage helping to raise the kids since he doesn't seem to have done anything of important since the fourth ninja war ended and has just been sitting on his ass waiting to become hokage.

I can't believe I am saying this but, I was with you until this part. We don't know what Naruto did, but assuming he did nothing but raise his kids doesn't really work either. He's obviously still in good shape and capable of taking on high level opponents pulled from the ether to challenge him. I figure he was going around putting out fires and doing missions. Perhaps not as world changing as what he did in his youth but still important in attaining the peace the world now enjoys even if that peace won't last forever.
As for the comment that he's wrong to train new Ninja....that's kind of silly as well. Peace has to be attained and maintained by each generation. There will never b a point on this side of mortality where humans are so good and just that injustice, hatred, and violence no longer occur in the world. Someone has to be ready to stand against those things, and ninja totally reliant on one point of failure (ie a tool that contains all their power) to stand against that kind of evil is such a bad idea that I am forced to agree with Naruto's decision to ban it's use from the trials.
As for the sales numbers, they are solid enough justifying continuing with the new characters, and the Kotaku review for the movie would seem to suggest people might be ameniable to more stories set in this universe
Boruto is a fantastic film that uses a tale of ninjas to explore the all-too-common real world problem of trouble between a busy father and a neglected son—until the final act where it becomes a cliché Naruto movie about Naruto punching a villain really hard.
Heck, sounds better than the recent Fantastic Four movie at the very least.
Last year’s Naruto movie, fittingly called The Last, was billed as the final Naruto-centric story. If only that had turned out to be true.
THIS line right here is the most concerning....it implies that if we shove Naruto off to the side and focus on his son and the new generation people would be more interested in the story...and sadly I can see it happening. If done well enough without Kishi at the head people could say, 'Well all the really crappy stuff happened in Naruto, but now things seem to be better." and they could ride that sentiment for some time making a solid profit, if not a spectacular one.

*cue Kurama saying naruto is out of form during gaiden*
I don't really think he did anything worthwhile ( besides that ridiculous moon mission ) during the period between the end of the fourth ninja war and his first day as hokage, but then again Kishi never said what Naruto was doing, so people are free to headcanon whatever the hell they want to
The ninjas don't need to stop existing, but they need another purpose, missions are outdated because they would lead to clashes with other villages from the alliance, like... one businessman hires konoha ninja to protect him and his rival hires kumo ninja to kill him...that's how the mission system works it's based around conflict so *this* needed to change in particualr and yet it was never addressed

It still doesn't excuse Naruto's behavior regarding his family, there is quite the time between his hokage admission , the gaiden and then Boruto: the movie...more than enough for one to adjust

I don't think the new generation would make success without relying on the older generation, specifically Sasuke. This movie is just going okay because Sasuke is in it and for quite the long time

The thing is the new generation is made for one moment, more so than lasting character. That's what Kishi even said. They're there to give the parental's lesson. That's why the guy was upset that the movie all the sudden shift different focus. It was going well with just bonding, but nope, a villain that is possibly more forgettable than Toneri appeared and it became the usual thing with rushed ending and resolution that seem as he called it "unbelievable."
Yep, it's kinda like DB in that regard the series never changed truly focused on Gohan (once it happened, Goku was brought back to MC status fast) or Goten and Trunks
Naruto will be the same if it continues, I don't think SP or Kishi will risk focusing entirely on the new generation instead of milking the kitten out of the SNS duo
wow, I can't believe I compared DB to Naruto...I must redeem myself somehow
