Here's the compromise point- the stuff with Hinata and Sasuke personality changes, etc...- pure fanservice silliness- and a chance for Kishimoto to give some types of readers a lesson- that even if Hinata became a yandere type and Sasuke a smooth talking playboy type, that Naruto or Sakura would still actually prefer each other. Tobi Madara is symbolically the readers that wrote him and demanded he change the developing pairing from narusaku to naruhina and sasusaku.

On the other hand the appearance of Naruto's parents and Sakura's parents were things he either in retrospect wishes he had done in the manga but can't now, and something he kept planning on doing but feels like he lost the chance to do. Both those points do have manga cannon meaning for Naruto and Sakura. So I think the changes in Sakura's parents will mostly be cosmetic- her father being a former Hokage and her mom's clothing colors flipping the Haruno clan colors and with three rings instead of one, and perhaps some partial personality changes, but the overall dynamic being similar- a somewhat difficult relationship with them.

I wouldn't say their wishes was so that Hinata would become a Yandere, just "outgoing", that's all. But of course, Kishi simply decided to screw them by turning their wishes up to eleven. As for the rest, I agree.

Put yourself in a SS fan shoes who wouldn't die to see Sasuke actually smiling and flirting with Sakura it's a dream come true for them, even if he's part of a genjutsu created by Tobi the same goes to NH fans. This movie like everyone has said it's about fan service and I will also agree with ciardha of Kishi trying to give the readers the big picture when it comes to the pairings and show the one pairing he has been developing in his manga for years.

Naruto and Sakura are in a unique position when it comes to love in this movie since they each have a romantic interest directly pursing their affections, thus having parallel love problems to deal with in the film. The more I look at it the more I think AU Sasuke and AU Hinata will serve as red herrings concerning romance in this movie, and by the end will only serve for Naruto and Sakura to realize how close they really are with each other.

They really are exploiting the fact of how much Hinata and Sasuke are different in personalities, more than they do any other character. Whether it be in promotional posters or in the trailer itself, they are always highlighted the most. Maybe it's a clue of how their roles will have the most impact out of all the AU characters when it comes to interactions with Naruto and Sakura.

I just wish they made a promotional poster with Hinata being all seductive with Naruto while Sakura looks shocked in the background. We already know that Hinata will be jealous of Sakura so a little sneak preview wouldn't hurt. Although it might be impossible considering that the movie is just weeks away.

@CB777: yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case. I think that info that Kishi had already churned out 20 chapters in advance for preparation with this movie was true, 'cause I don't see how the man would've lasted with all this on top of writing the manga every week. Wouldn't be surprised if he asked a month-long hiatus after this is over.

Yeah I agree. She's supposed to be a main character yet we've heard nothing about her. My hopes went down, Kishi will probably treat her with as much care as he does in the series. Like complete fodder.

Exactly! If Sakura is "supposed" to be a protagonist in this movie then she should have a bigger role just like Naruto. Instead we get more information on AU Hinata in which she's NOT even a protagonist why is she getting more spot slight than the heroine. I swear if Kishi screws up with her character I will declare him a terrible writer as must as it will pain me to say. I don't want to see Sakura getting a few scenes (and most of those scenes being with AU Sasuke and less spending time with Naruto). I want to see her shining in this movie proving that she's the heroine of the series, I want to see her having an epic fight, I want to see her fighting by Naruto's side. But any information regarding her hasn't even been brought up. I'm starting to get annoy here why can Kishi at least give us a small hint about Sakura's role?
