Well, he's only ever run away one time, and that was at Sabaody because everyone was going to die. I don't really count Marineford because he already completed his goal and was trying to get away with Ace. I mean, he challenged Aokiji square up before Water 7. so he's never really cared who they were, but in Sabaody he was just trying to save everyone's lives.

That's not really the point.

 

If Luffy is going to be the freest man on the seas then he's going to have to actively go after and challenge the admirals and emperors. He's not even close to becoming the Pirate King if he can't do that because "they're too strong for him." Running away from Fujitora, instead of challenging him, would only prove that Luffy's hasn't changed at all since the time-skip.

 

One Piece is well past its half-way point, so it's about time Luffy started challenging the admirals and the emperors head on.

Don't forget that Zoro and Sanji got to surpass admirals, too. I highly doubt we're 70% complete. I know the editor said it, but Oda said we were 50% done at volume 61. How are we at 70% at volume 78? I would say that we're 65% complete at the very most.

Yeah, but he's already challenged people at the top. He challenged four warlords. He challenged Aokiji. He challenged the admirals. He challenged the world government. He challenged Whitebeard.

He did challenge them on his own terms, he didn't back down from any of them. Whether or not he did it to save his friends is irrelevant, Roger never backed down from a fight when his friends were in trouble either.

Oda is confirmed to be part of the next movie. Not sure if it's level of SW or FZ, but box office numbers is already going to be huge.

It's going to be very hard to beat Film Z. Zephyr will always be my favorite non-canon character in One Piece unless this movie gives us a better one.

It'll be tough for the new movie to give us a better character than Zephyr, but I think it's possible. My favorite thing about him was his rich backstory and it helped that Oda wrote Zephyr's backstory himself.

 

I guess we'll have to wait and see what the movie is going to be about first.

Yeah, I saw some of that animation and it's just inexcusable. Hopefully enough people will call them out on it and eventually Toei will be forced to change their ways.
