For me, Sakura gave me the impression irregardless anything Sasuke said and acted he was still her Sasuke-kun who would have kissed her at that moment.
I feel like you are mixing in the two POVs; one from Sakura's and the other from Sasuke.

I do believe it would be revisited especially from what Kushina said about Minato and her hair.

Guys, about 615... am I the only curious one regarding Madara? "You become just like I used to be, Obito..."
What made Madara turn into that? Also... his sayings about love back in the old days. Am I smelling another love triangle between him, Hashi and Mito?
I know I may be thinking too much into it, but the newer chapters just reinforce my thoughts on it.

While Dαrkrєrsŧ is certainly entitled to his opinion, I side with catsi, Strider and KeikoxYusuke. Since I began following the pairing, I have firmly believed that chapter 3's bench scene to be one of the most fundamental events in the development of NaruSaku. In manga terms, this is where it all began; it's a bedrock of the pairing in my view. In the manga thus far, we have not seen any direct interaction between Naruto and Sakura that took place BEFORE this scene (and if we were ever going to see it, it would only be through flashback now). All the same, chapter 3 IMO is where it started, NaruSaku Development Day 1.

Naturally, I also believe that the truth of that event will someday be revealed. I just don't see the point in Sakura never finding that it was Naruto she sat with, not Sasuke.

I agree with you guys. I think the bench scene is jam-packed with stuff that is still in play or unresolved.

The bench scene unfolded as follows:

1. The depth of Sakura's poor self-image was revealed.
2. Sakura recognized that "Sasuke" was looking at her with warm eyes, and it felt as if he was "looking right into her heart."
3. "Sasuke" said exactly what she was wishing to hear, then said, "Ha ha! That sounds like something Naruto would say."
4. Sakura told "Sasuke" that Naruto enjoys seeing her struggle, always getting in the way when she's trying to do something important, doesn't understand her, and he's annoying. She told Sasuke that his acknowledgement is all she wants, and says, "I would do anything because I like you a lot."
5. Naruto admits he was starting to understand why he likes her so much.
6. Sakura thinks Sasuke was close to kissing her.
7. Naruto's gastrointestinal issues interrupt the moment.
8. Sakura assumes Sasuke is "so shy" and he "probably isn't ready yet."
9. Real Sasuke appears and asks where Naruto is, Sakura childishly complains about Naruto.
10. Sasuke revealed he felt more of a bond with Naruto than Sakura.
11. Sasuke tells Sakura she's annoying.

#2 is a big deal, and in my opinion it's a clear hint that NS is meant to happen.

I think #3 is why Sakura hasn't thought about the bench scene again. "Sasuke" pretty much disspelled her fantasy in the moment by associating it with Naruto. However, just because she hasn't thought of it since doesn't mean she won't later, if the memory is somehow triggered or the scene is relived.

Much like what Slextrem said, I think #6 and #8 made a lasting impression on Sakura. Her wish for it to be true, plus her stated desire to win Sasuke's acknowledgement among many other subsequent motivations, has fueled her fantasy and seems to have trumped #11 and all the worse stuff that has happened since. Maybe this is what Kishimoto meant when he said that Sakura was an honest girl with a very stubborn impression...?

Sasuke is interesting in the bench scene. He clearly understands Naruto's situation, and he is irked with Sakura's lack of understanding, but he doesn't stick up for Naruto, exactly, and later we see him call Naruto "dead last." So he's cold and determined to remain emotionally aloof, but it appears to be a question of degrees and Naruto seems to be the only one he's really affected by.

Naruto's feelings are straight up. Considering #4, it's not difficult to figure out how he became so devoted to Sakura's happiness or why he made the POAL. He asked what she thought of him and she told him. That made a lasting impression on him, too.

Yeah, the bench scene and Sasuke taking the brunt of Haku's attack to shield Naruto are two things I often think we'll revisit somehow. Naruto asking Sasuke why he would help him, and Sasuke saying, "I don't know... my body just moved on its own... idiot..."

I can totally see that happening again.

I think Madara is just referring to how Obito has fully adopted the ideals Madara tried to impose on him the first time they met. Obito was stubborn and didn't want to listen to what Madara had to say at first, but now Obito's able to talk in the same manner Madara did with him in order to convince Naruto.

This is why I brought the idea of another love triangle.

He has the same principles of the first hokage but what makes him different than Hashirama is the fact that they had different ways of handling it, Hashirama believed that the world would achieve peace on it's own, and Madara believed that it would never achieve peace by itself becasue as long as love exists also hatred will exist, Hashirama beliefs were utopic, as Naruto but even if achieve peace after this arc, it's not doubt that it was not Naruto who did it, but Obito and Madara who made the world unite to fight against them, this is the problem, Naruto actually is doing nothing to make to change the world, actually he didnt even found the answer yet, that's why when i compare Naruto to the protagonist of Xenogears, i think that he's a trash of a hero, because protecting friends and the village is not a purpose of his life, i think Naruto hasnt found a purpose on his life yet, things are happening and he's emerging as a hero.
What changed Nagato wasnt the fact that Naruto did not wanted to kill Pain, but the fact that Naruto reminded him of who he was before, the problem is that NAruto wants to change everybody and he views everyone as victims, like we have 0 villains on the history, like all of them are victims.

And what makes me rage is the fact that Sasuke tried to kill Naruto couple of times, he tried ot kill Sakura and threatened to kill everyone in the village but still he views Sasuke as a victim.
Even Gaara says, Sasuke made his choice he choose darkness, and naruto fainted.
So based on this, that's why i say that Naruto is not prepared to be hokage.

My take on Kishi's writing style is that almost everyone who ever had some sort of emotion, can be redeemed. Hmm..no, the only exceptions would be Orochimaru and Kabuto. I want Madara to stay evil forever. =)

But let me note that Mito and Hashirama's marriage was arranged. If Madara truly was in love with Mito(I don't believe it for a second lol ), maybe he felt like it was unfair. Because he was not a part of the decision, it made him evil and powerhungry. But I do think Kishi will give his story a major crack if it happens.. D:

edit; Now that I think about it, I want to see Madara and Hashirama's fight even more now! I think Mito came in the aftermath, and sealed Kurama, but all the drama..spicyy

Well, I find Madara's unhealthy obssession with Hashirama to be a part of the story that hasn't been touched upon in depth, but it's easy to say that it is a fundamental aspect in the forming of the former's character. His anymosity (I say his because we don't really know about Hashirama's side) stems from the history of their respective ancestors (the Sage's Sons), but he also holds a candle to Hashirama. He's both compared himself and Hashirama to the current ninja generation, whilst simultaneously praising and cursing Hashirama all in the same breath.

I would really like to more about the history of these two (especially from Hashirama's perspective), preferably how the two met. I say this because Kishi has made efforts to make the HashiMada relationship stand out among everyone else in their respective clans (uh-oh, I hope I haven't just coined the name of a new pairing )

Similarly, Madara has at least some form of aquaintance with Mito Uzumaki, as he was able to identify Naruto when Kabuto (through Muu) stated the boy was from 'Mito's clan'. No one knows how far this relationship goes (MadaMito: In there before anyone else says it! ), and until we find out more, we can only speculate.

Who I would like to know more about is Madara's brother. Did Izuna truly give his eyes to Madara of his own will, (as Obito told to Sasuke) or did Madara take them by force (as Itachi implied)? In which case, who was lying to whom; Itachi to Sasuke, Obito to Sasuke, or Madara to Obito??

I think if Madara has loved someone, has had an important bond that he lost, it would be his brother, not some random woman. Quinny52 brings up many interesting questions about him and when it is time to deal with Madara, maybe we will see more of his backstory.

I dont think Madara is evil.
Orochimaru and Sasuke are evil but i dont think Madara is, i think he just another guy that lost his hope in the world.
And have a strong belief that he's right, based on personal experiences.

The two only things I see it happen as flashbacks from Madara are, something about him and Hashirama and/or the truth about Izuna's eyes and he having them.

I also don't think there was any kind of love triangle there. To me it would feel redundant to have both Madara and Obito to be suffering from an unrequited love. But I'm still curious as to how those days before Konoha's foundation went down. To see how the first generation came to know and react to each other.

How did the Inuzuka, Yamanaka, Hyuuga etc get involved with Konoha? Where did they live before? Did they escape to one of the 5 great villages because of war?

@sushi - Konoha was the first ninja village to be formed. The manga has so far implied that the other notable clans (the Inuzuka, Aburame, Hyuga, Sarutobi, Nara, Akimichi, Yamanaka etc) either sided with or were conquered by the Senju and/or the Uchiha and brought under their respective banners, and were assimilated into Konoha as part of the truce between the era's two dominant clans.

I would like that too, to have a mini arc about this. But, like you said, Kishi is too tied up with the other plans for the manga to add this mini arc. Though, what about one or two chapters of this interesting past ?... Still, I feel that Kishi is not interested to show this to us
