No. Not necessarily. He becomes more of a terrorist than a justice giver later. Like his dad said, "Nothing good comes out of killing people". I side with that. I am more with Light than L because his character is eerily similar to mine. I am nowhere near that smart of course but the way he does and sees things...the world...his temperament...its very similar to mine in real life. L is more of a hero here. I don't dislike L. I simply can't....I cannot say one is wrong and the other isn't 'cuz no one is wrong here....each acting according to their own sense of justice but L has a way with things which I don't Its simply that...

Like I said....there is this 'right' way...morally....humanely...and all that and there's Light's way....slightly twisted and hollow. Both of them right in their own unique ways....one acceptable to the society and the other....Well you know So quite interestingly....the lead is a sort of anti-hero

Idk whether you noticed this or no....L didn't take the case because he needed to...it was because this...Kira...intrigued him! He finds Light as his flip side. Kinda like Sasuke is to Naruto. Kira intrigued him the most....of all the cases that he took....and that's why...we have Death Note. The one who can kill, can't actually kill the other while the one who can't isn't sure of the killer. It is like a game of poker. Just that here....Light and L...both know each other's cards and strategies far too well....what they are waiting to see is the execution!
