Alright, that's a little mean. But we warned them. We really did. We presented the evidence in a polite manner (Well, Smiter did, anway), and they didn't exactly listen.

Yeah, it was nice to see 236 and calm down from all that horrible Sakura-bashing we saw. I bet that guy is eating his words... I bet he still won't learn. This chapter has proven that Sakura has changed. She already has.

Sure, it didn't have any NaruSaku fluff but this was a nice, realistic chapter. We need to remember Sakura still has feelings for Sasuke, so it's going to take time for her to adjust. We'll just have to wait for the Inane before we can pick our way through our new ammo.

I can foresee Sakura having an inner conflict if she and Naruto get closer while they train over the months/years before they get a chance to see Sasuke again. Old and new feelings conflicting. I've read a bit about guys claiming that if you become friends, you have no chance at love.

Rubbish. I know friends who fell in love later and got together, and in most cases their relationship was really rewarding.

The only chance the NaruHinas will have is if Hinata visits Naruto in hospital BEFORE he leaves. If Kishi doesn't even show that, then it makes the NaruHina case for canon look weaker... it would only confirm Hinata is a side character.

Yep. Even after she heard the news about Sasuke, she still wanted to visit Naruto. When she and Ino visited the hospital, she asked about Naruto AND Sasuke. She wanted to see them BOTH.

I'm interested to know what exactly Sakura heard through the door. It might not be important, but it might help shed light on what she knows.

In a way, the chapter has brought them closer together. If we see even more of Sakura visiting Naruto (hopefully in the next chapter), then that would be cool. Especially if she brought a flower.

You know what, Sakura had guts to go up to the Hokage herself and ask to be trained! Not exactly wimpy, is she? Now we know where the anime filler with the pills and supplies from Tsunade was going...

Hopefully we'll see a new teammate for Team 7. You never know, Chouji might not be back in action for a long while because of his condition, and Ino might get transferred to Team 7... (please, Kishi! You know that would make for some great comedy!)

His latest statement on the pairings thread was shot down in flames by Chapter 236.

Cover message (Naruto's POV, so easy to see): "I wanted to push the sorrow and pain away... I wanted to protect that smile of yours."

Now if THAT'S not love - what is?

Also, Sakura regards Naruto as a precious person she really cares for. She was inspired by his words to do something, to repay his faith and strength by training harder so she could be able to do something.

She even knows he would go to any lengths to protect her and make her happy. You saw her POV wandering over Naruto's bandages and the marked hitai-ate as his words sunk in.

Also, at the hospital, she wanted to see Naruto FIRST. Then she hesistantly added Sasuke's name - "where is Sasuke-kun!?" After she heard the news and went into Naruto's room, she tried to cheer him up! She could see how badly beaten he looked and the pain in his eyes. You could tell she hated seeing him like that and just wanted him to be his cheery self again.

The chapter stinks of NaruSaku. Sakura didn't even think about Sasuke when she was in Naruto's room - she only thought of what Naruto had done for her and her feelings grew softer for him. She wanted to be strong for him and help him retrieve Sasuke - their friend.

I think Sakura is starting to let her crush on Sasuke go, replacing it with a deep friendship and comradeship. Like Naruto, she doesn't want Sasuke to slip deeper into the darkness.

She is no longer the Sasuke-kun fangirl she was. She sees Naruto as a really valuable person and wants to get better so she can be able to do something, to protect her precious people. 236 proves that beyond doubt.

Yes, I totally agree. The more I think about it, the more I see her gradually letting go of her debilitating crush and being concerned for Sasuke as a FRIEND. I kind of see her situation as being similar to Lee's. I really think that, in order to advance, Lee needs to break away from Gai's image and become his own person. The same applies to Sakura. Her crush on Sasuke was holding her back, keeping her tied down to one place, and now that he has done what he has, it gives her the incentive to move on and grow (with Naruto, of course )

Yeah, I agree with you. I have always thought of Sakura as being held back by her crush on Sasuke.

They say the "memories" line of the next chapter's title is in the tone of letting go of someone - I think there is a real chance it's Sakura thinking about Sasuke. Because we've only seen her thoughts on Naruto and she hasn't quite sat down and dealt with everything that's happened over the past few days. At least not as far as we've seen.

What REALLY interested me is one of Sakura's thoughts. She thinks she's always depended, always clung on to Naruto to help make things better.

we're all psychics! everyone, even N/H fans know it's the image of Sasuke that holds Sakura back, it's because she only thought about persuing him instead of training. Anyone know what a childhood crush is and I have to say that Sakura's CRUSH on Sasuke was only that, and it's DEAD!

They'll need a new team for the chunin exams you know. Naruto and Sakura might very well stay together but right now Sasuke is gone, Shikamaru is a chunin, Chouji might be down for a while and Neji might be as well but his injuries seem to have been rather superficial (right...) for Shizune.

Godai, I do hope we get to see an existing character in Team 7 soon. Since Hinata's team are still intact, we should be safe. If an existing genin gets transferred over, I'd say it's most likely Ino because we don't know how long Chouji may be out of action - he lost a lot of weight and was severely weakened. Only Tsunade and the Nara antler medicine book saved him.

I have a feeling 237 is going to be important for NaruSaku as well! Someone is going to be trying to let go of their feelings. As I've said in many posts before (hehe, sorry!) I'm hoping it's Sakura doing that. Worst case scenario would be... Naruto thinking he should try to let go of his feelings on Sakura (unlikely, but still a scary thought).

Of course, TRYING to let go of feelings and actually being able to let go of them are entirely different things.

You know, if 237 does come out just as we hope, then along with 236 it'll be a very painful double-whammy to NaruHina and SasuSaku.

Then we'll see who's being "deluded".

Hmmm. . . it would be awfully interesting to see Ino on Team Seven. Ino needs more focus. Much more. And if Kishimoto really is setting us up to a ShikaInoTema triangle, it'd be a nice way to get it going.

Bah. Methinks that's just wishful thinking. Sakura will be trained by Tsunade and Naruto is going with Jiraiya (most likely), so niether one of them will be around much more a full team.

Yeah, I guess a time skip may be coming fairly soon-ish. I just hope that if Naruto HAS to leave for a long trip around the world, he and Sakura have some moments before he leaves! Not necessarily love stuff, but some nice moments where they feel closer to each other.

It would be cool if we skipped a little and had a slightly older Naruto eating at Ichiraku, and Sakura joins him for a meal - and their conversation shows they've gotten a lot closer, and Sakura is finally herself.

As I said somewhere else I can't do oneshot, it always turns into a series and I have enough work to do for a long while now.

Your idea is rather good, a flash forward would be fitting in a couple of chapters, with Naruto being pursued by the Akatsuki and being considered a threat by Oro (If the snake doesn't consider him dangerous now he's stupid)

The good news is that with the 4 sounds dead Oro has to build up some forces I believe. He got Sasuke but lost 5 strong shinobies which were his elites. And that to 5 genins and 1 chunin from the leaf and 3 genins from the sand. How weak are the sound anyway? (That is not considering the lost leaf Anbu but those guys look like canon fodder more then ninjas)
