Maybe Naruto and Sakura had a scene together before the war.Minato was inside of Naruto so he knows everything.

She didn't deny it so to speak. Naruto said she was his girlfriend in front of everyone without her permission. Remember Naruto is cocky, and I'm sure he thinks he'll still get her someday. That's why he told his dad she was his. She hit him because that's her style. That's why Minato saw Kushina in her. He said "please go easy on my son" because he knows more than anybody what it feels like to be with a girl like Sakura.

 

Oh I know she didn't. I was talking about as a matter of factly that "even if she did" it's still in our favour. because these moments of denying being someone's boyfriend/girlfriend always hints at something.

He did?Anyways He's been inside of Naruto for 16 years.He could see that Naruto loves Sakura.Maybe this is why  Minato asked Sakura to being Naruto's girlfriend.

That was just regular Father behavior. He saw a girl taking care of his son and out of curiosity at the intimacy between the two, asked her whether she was his son's girlfriend.
