I just thought of something from the title "three-way deadlock". 

 

In Japan a three-way deadlock is an official word that was made based on a situation where a slug, snake, and the toad cannot move because they are restraining(checking out) each other. 

 

The snake eats the toad, the toad eats the slug and the slug melts/dissolves the snake. 

 

Can't this be a foreshadowing of the future?

 

Sasuke gets close to Naruto (snake eats toad), but Sakura notices Sasuke's dark intentions and tries to stop it(slug melts/dissolves the snake), Naruto will have Sakura on his side (toad eats the slug), and therefore they are restraining each other.

Sakura will definitely be a thorn in Sasuke's plan. Sasuke will need to get rid of Sakura and her suspicions concerning him, which might lead to either 1.) a SS moment(Sasuke "acting" nice to her) or 2.) a battle.

I read the raw. The Sai part was translated wrong.

Sai "You also know Sasuke...What is his real plan?"
重悟　　「…さあな…」

Juugo "...no idea"

 

So Sai actually didn't hear Sasuke, like some people are saying.

That's very plausible. Naruto wants to believe Sasuke is back (snake eats toad), therefore refuses to understand Sakura's point of view(toad eats slug), Sasuke can't make a move because Sakura knows something (slug eats snake) and therefore we have three powers restraining each other as the the "three-way deadlock." If this were the case, would it turn out to be more like a Naruto vs Sasuke vs Sakura? (Not necessarily battle, but emotionally)

If you think about the neo sannin fight kishi wanted, wouldn't it make sense to bring jiraya back? And for all we know oro does have a water style who can swim and find his body. It would be somewhat of an asspull but one I would be ok with.

Don't think he will fight Orochimaru yet. He may do it on his own term. The fact Orochimaru and others went somewhere with Juugo not knowing Sasuke's plan (or maybe he does) suggests that Sasuke and Orochimaru are the only one who planned it while others follow as they are told. I could see Sasuke fight Orochimaru if he becomes power hungry, but not now.

I already believed that it would be impossible for Sai to have listened to Sasuke's words in this chapter but it also seems that I was wrong about him refining to Sasuke's Hokage declaration.

 

And about Sasuke being good to being bad, well it was obvious from the start I did mention that Kakashi, Yamato and Sai omission was to re-created that Team 7 nostalgic feeling since having any of these character in the picture would ruin the moment with there suspicious behaviors, not only that but Kishi proved my thought were right since the moment Sai was inserted back in the big picture he start asking question about Sasuke something Naruto and Sakura won't put to much focus on mostly because it's something the both desire for such a long time.

it is indeed! This is way Sakura is playing an extremely important role. A good analogy for this situation is bicycle vs tricycle. a two wheel bike can't stand on it's own and will crash, but a third wheel is known to balance out everything.

 

It also has to do with Naruto's words back in chapter (I believe) 486, that a fight between Sasuke and Naruto will end up in death. What Sakura has is something that totally balance checks Sasuke's power. She won't let him have the advantage. I find it extremely possible that Naruto will not be able to defeat Sasuke without Sakura's help. Kishi makes it really prominent - it's not just about Naruto and Sasuke, but about a team.

 

Myth: It is exactly like the toad-snake-slug match up. In toad vs snake, Jiraiya always loses to the snake. He loses twice. Third time's the charm, but third time, he was with the power of the slugs. ^_^

To me, Sakura's face in the last page undoubtedly shows a big focus on something. I really don't think she's thinking about Tsunade here, and to me, she isn't focusing on the war either. She suspects Sasuke. It's way too linked with what Sai and Juugo just said. Even if Sai didn't really said he heard what sasuke said, it's clear that it's this very moment while Sasuke said " burn " or " burn it down " we should suspect (i would like to have the precise translation of what Sasuke said...). Again, Sai is the key that unlock secrets. Kishi added too much hints 'till now that are pointing toward Sasuke being suspectable. It was far too easy to make him good again just like that.

Just before, Sakura was happy enough to let a tear down. Witnessing Naruto and Sasuke combine their attacks was so great.

I'll be honest, while reading this page, i almost cried. I empathised a lot with Sakura by watching her overwhelmed by joy. It was thrilling. Her being so full of joy before is reinforcing her very grave face in the last page of the chapter.

 

I think Kishi wrote everything like that so he could draw team7 team up one last time before Naruto and Sasuke fight.

I think things might become ugly.

Because people may wonder if it's about Sasuke talking about Hokage or what he said. Now, we know directly that Sasuke has a plan because Sai asked Juugo what's Sasuke's goal because he knows him, rather than what he heard.

That is true, it looks like Sakura has a grim expression on her face. A small panel for such an intense emotion. I really want to know what she's thinking.

Hmmm...good point. A rather intriguing perception that a person may not know that they are indeed smarter than they realize. Reminds me of Milly from Trigun. I guess that is one benefit to not having emotions is the ability to see past conflict of emotions for the facts that do present. Naruto may let his emotions get in the way of a logical answer, but Sai is keen on the situation. Not so sure on Sakura yet, which is why I am leaving her out of this one.

that chapter was okay-ish, Im actually really pissed off that sakura just went back to healing fodder... :/ don't get me wrong, i know shes a medic and that her job but it's so boring. It's kishi just trying to place her in the background again and let all the men do all the work. i truly believe slug sage mode is completely off the table because: from what shizune said it seems she's only just started to work with the slugs :( 

 

sakura capabilities right now are dull and repetitive (copy and paste from tsunade)  and i was hoping for kishi to add something more to give her an edge. when you compare what she dose to sasuke and naruto -it's kinda lack luster imo 

 

anyways some good point is that sasuke still may have bad intentions which is great from a story wise perspective if he still retains his dark side. 

one thing that did intrigue me was sakura in the last panel, she looks concerned - could be about  about tsunade or sasuke
