LOL I've read something on twitter about the interview.
-Since Sakura's popularity wasn't so much, he began to think he had better to make Hinata as heroine.

-Kishimot's favorite akatsuki character is Hidan.

-Since Sakura wasn't popular, he didn't widen (her background) with her parents' establishment.
-For the cover of volume 66, he thought to make Sakura charming, like a hollywood actress.

And Hinata had done exactly what to deserve Naruto's love? Oh. I forgot, Hinata is basically Naruto's meat shield during the past chapters. If Naruto really "loves" Hinata then he doesn't need a genjutsu to make him realize that she loves her.
