I was hoping for Viola. Bart is fine if he joins, but I was hoping for Viola. It is worth noting though that Bellamy and Bart are both waiting at the ship with everyone else.

Next chapter we find out that it's Crocodile who joins lol

 

Nah I still think it's a little too soon to tell who is going to join. One reason why I picked Rebecca is because one it would add another female to the crew which would be cool, and I think it could help her grow as a character.  Viola is another choice that I had too kinda for Sanji's sake,  her personality, and the same reason as Rebecca with the adding another female on the crew.  

 

 

You know I forgot this, but when I first saw The 4kids dubb of Alabasta at the time I was like man how cool would it be if Ace and Vivi had joined the Strawhats crew by the end, and it's funny how I had the same feeling going on For Rebecca and Sabo. Granted I already had a feeling that Sabo wouldn't join the straw hats (even though it would be cool), but I did hold onto Rebecca being one of them for the reasons I had given.

@LuckyChi7 HOW DARE YOU!? Remember that the 3 brothers weren't going to let each other be captain over them. They all became captains, but Ace and Sabo joined a powerful crew/army, and Luffy is the only one left with his captain position. Even though their dreams changed, they still won't let Luffy be their captain. That's like admitting to your brother that they're stronger and cooler than you even though you're both adults. That destroys your ego, man.

 

I'm also growing tired of this "crew needs more females" thing people are using to back Rebecca, Viola, or Monet joining. I'm not trying to be a sexist, just a realist. Heck, look at my signature. The truth of the matter is that these are pirates. Since when did females make up 30% of a pirate crew? Even the most infamous female leaders in pirate crews had a crew of 98% men at least. Maybe less than 98%, but you get my point. One Piece has much more powerful men than women, but women still make up about 8% of the strong characters in the show. That's extremely inaccurate to how it was in the actual pirate era in real life. Think about it. It was a dirty job of stinking men getting wasted and robbing people and forcing people to become their slaves. Sometimes even selling them. They made a lot of those slaves walk the plank for a quick laugh. Most pirates were nasty people, and the decent ones still had nothing but bad people around them on their ships. The ships were no place for a woman. Why do you think all the powerful female pirates you see in One Piece outside of the Straw Hats hold such high ranks in their crew? The only way a woman became a pirate is if she was extremely skilled, and could earn the role of a captain or first mate as a rookie. No way would a woman just join a bunch of horrible men for some profit. Only God knows what they would do to her. They were nasty criminals, after all.

 

*Gets a little dark here, but this is pirates we're talking about here* Obviously that doesn't apply to women becoming pirates in One Piece, but Blackbeard is the closest thing we got to a nasty pirate in One Piece, and he tried to force Bonney into marriage. Realistically, a pirate of his power would of probably of done more to her with how he had her chained down like that. And this was Bonney we are talking about here. A Supernova. Men outnumbered female pirates 99% at least to 1%, because women couldn't be pirates without a high rank, or they would stand no chance of being unharmed by the crew. And even if she could be a high rank on a crew. What would happen to her when she ran by a stronger group and they lost? What would that crew do to her?

 

What I'm trying to say is that Oda at least made the females having to be powerful part realistic. Do you honestly think Arlong would just make a 18 year old Nami draw maps? Do you? Do you honestly think Crocodile would just betray Robin by death, and wanted nothing else first? I'm not trying to scare anybody, but Oda had to get rid of THAT part of pirates to make this anime work. The Straw Hats could have 3 or 4 female pirates on their crew by the end, but Oda doesn't need to bend the logic of females being pirates by too much. I like how he does it with Nami and Robin, as they didn't want to be pirates, they just wanted to be with Luffy. Bear in mind that One Piece is also set in like 14??, so sexism exist just like the racism towards fishmen do, I'm sure. Heck, Tashigi has to yell at her guys sometimes because they keep noticing her looks instead of her fighting abilities. When they see her fight they're amazed, but they mostly notice her looks. So basically, Oda has to bend realism some to give us important and strong women in a pirate world. That's fine. But he obviously doesn't need to bend it too much. I think he realizes that, because like I said earlier, most of the important females outside of the Straw Hat crew hold high ranks in whatever they're active at.

1. I just had to edit this because I said "Bellamy", but I meant "Bonney".... I said Blackbeard wanted to marry Bellamy....

 

2. I love the idea of women joining the Straw Hats, but if they're going to join, we need more men so that the realism factor isn't bent too much. Trust me, I love the the females with strength and high ranks or titles in this show. Tashigi, Vivi, Koala, Hancock. I love those girls man. Nami and Robin too obviously, but they don't have a strength based title or rank. They're known as "navigator" and "archaeologist".

This manga is far from realistic, even the pirate aspect is far off from what real pirates where pack during the Real life Golden age of pirates.

 

Also the amount of female pirate captains in real life was slightly less to almost equal the amount of male pirates.

 

A lot of females took up being the Quartermaster for some of the famous pirates out there as well.

 

I could call you sexist but wheres the fun in resorting to name calling when I can just blast you with facts.

Keep believing female captains made up around 45% if you want. I want them names. Not some fantasy driven by false rumors spread on the internet. Them real facts.   Not something you just read and think is equal and fair, and so you believe in it. We live in a much better world than back then. It was cruel back then. Only difference is that there are 7 billion people on this earth now, and we got social media. So you didn't hear about women being abused as much back then. Because I've heard of a few powerful females, but no 45%. Heck, in Assassin's Creed, there was a powerful female pirate who had to disguise herself as a man to be noticed as a strong pirate. That actually happened in real life... If female captains almost made up as many male captains, then why would one of the strongest be so easily afraid?

I gave you the link. I listed my facts quite easily. Just a few seconds it took to find a wiki link. Men made up a large majority on any pirate ship. How is that not obvious? These weren't "great" jobs to have. These were crooked people. Nothing sexist in saying men were more likely to be disgusting and nasty than women were back in the pirate era. Just the truth. I'm not saying women were too weak. Why would you WANT women to make up a large portion of pirates? xD
