If she doesn't get with him, especially after her proclamation in 573, then it will seem as if she failed to get him. It would be any other failure she gains, and her character would have been pointless. Of course there can be situation written in the manga that can solve that problem, but for now I just don't know how Kishi going to solve this. I see the series definitely going to Narusaku, especially after reading some of the rumors of the latest movie that he was in charged in, but I now just don't understand Hinata's proclamation, and why it was given so much emphasis.
Well, one could argue that the core of Hinata's love for Naruto is different from Naruto's love for Sakura.
Hinata's love is based on her admiration of him and how that makes her improve as a person, so basically that love is focused on herself.
Naruto's love is based on his desire to make Sakura the happiest girl in the world regardless of his own feelings, so his love for her is focused not on what he wants but on what's best for Sakura.
