Exactly what I was asking myself. Did the dragons kill her when she opened the gate or did she get sent back in time somehow? Why did she open the gate from her side for that matter? Did she know exactly what she was doing? Oh man so many questions! I seriously loved this chapter, I love we are finally getting some answers.

I'd hazard a guess that Anna is either a ancestor of Layla and Lucy, and/or she'd left instructions with the Celestial Beasts to pass on the instructions to the holder of the keys to open the gate on that day. (Remember the stupid training arc, where they spent in the spirit world for a day and lost a month) For humans 400 years passed for spirits only 13 years have passed. Layla was in bad health at the time if I remember, so it's possible the strain of opening the gate cut her life even shorter, she knew she was dying, that's why she gave away her keys to others with the promise that the keys would be returned to Lucy when she was old enough.

 

This was a good chapter, similar to what I expected from the Hiro-sensie that wrote Rave master. Was hoping would be something similar here but we'll have to see how things go, I have my fingers crossed for a time travelling twist like his past work

I'm still hoping that when Natsu becomes end, he becomes "evil" or just has a darker personality. It didn't necessarily sound like that way when they were discussing it in this chapter, but I hope it still comes true.

Like how did Brandish come into picture?

That was my question too, whether Layla went back or just opened the gate & died. If she died Cuz of opening the gate then it is possible that Anna died too...
And hence the question arises, what made her sacrifice herself for this?

Was she meant to open the gate being a descendent of Anna?
(In mangastream translation I read Anna's clan ...according to Dragons' plan)

What if Anna is a Lucy's duplicate too !?

If the above is not the case (Layla was meant to open the gate), why did she open it in the first place?

I think the power of nakama will fix him , if it even comes to that . It will probably go even further and it will turn Zeref  "good" too , especially since he's been rather uncertain about being either good or evil .

hew I've been a way for quite a few days truth be told I've been studying hardcore for finals week for this week, and thankfully I passed Economics with flying colors only got  Government, Math, and Bio to deal with wednesday trough friday  anyway... haven't read the chapter as you can already tell.  I will do my live reaction for this week's chapter later tonight, and I'll save Boku No Hero and Tokyo Ghoul for tomorrrow since my schedule is mainly open then this week as far as catch ups go.
