In that secret poster, at least Naruto kinda looks like Naruto. I still hate the short hair, but that's closer to the joyous smile we've grown fond of.

 

And I know Tricksie has made observations that they muted the colors of Sakura's hair in The Last, but does it look like they've done that with Naruto, too?

Most likely the art design. The thing is the one behind the art is really different from the anime/manga itself. It has that their own preference style. That's why many of the characters look different from the manga or sketch.

All I know is that Hinata's hair was shining way too much in that movie. It was the worst in that Pain fight filler though.

All the money was redirected into making Hinata prettier. Naruto as a result got an ugly haircut, Sakura had to loose twenty more pounds to look like a stick, and most of the rookie nine didn't even get animated.
