There will still be Acnologia left as villain , I guess . I honestly do not think Zeref will die , maybe the god the cursed him will intervene .
 
If Zeref does die , this would be the one thing he wanted  since he became immortal , so I guess it would make sense from that point of view . It would be kind of anticlimactic though , especially after the set up chapter with his meeting  with Acnologia .

That's not really the problem. The problem is that it happened before taking out Spriggan 12 as well as happening in this very moment. We don't know what is Mashima planning with this scenario.

On another note, Layla's name comes up again... I really hope we'll find out what the heck is up with her and how Lucy will play into this.

Here's an ironic thought too: What if NaLu was planned out by Zeref and Layla? Lucy, who, for most of her life had been controlled by her father and tried escape from his grasp, ironically ends up playing into Zeref and Layla's plans, and that her meeting with Natsu was pre-destined.

 

It's already kinda started to annoy me. How many more times do we have to be teased with Layla's name until we get something of an explanation? At least now the whole mystery with the bandage on Natsu's arm is out of the way.

 

Thought it was a cool chapter. Loved how Zeref was smiling during the fight, like he was proud of Natsu. Calling it now, Lucy is a reincarnation of Anna, and Anna was Natsu's first love. She died and Natsu flipped kitten and Zeref, Mavis, and Layla had to seal half his soul in the book. Boom.

 

Anna Natsu's first love? Oh come on, no! He already had Lisanna, he can't have a hundred first loves. About the whole Anna thing and connection to Lucy, I just hope that we don't get one of those freaky weird theories from Harry Potter come true, like Lucy and Natsu somehow turning out to be siblings or cousins. That would be sooo wrong.

I already read a theory about Zeref x Layla & that Lucy is Actually Layla's & Zeref!

I was like, seriously!?
How on earth is Zeref fool enough to fall in love after he know what happened to Mavis??!
I think that Anna is rather connected to Zeref & Natsu & not Lucy.

As of right now, the direction the story Mashima is taking is questionable. If Natsu loses, what was the point of this new-fangled powerup?, if Natsu wins, then what was the hype for this "war" for?
Also, Mashima tends to have something big happen in the X00 chapters or so, and we have about 30 chapters to go until the big 500. So whatever it is, I hope that what he's planning upwards to that chapter will be worth it.

  
Natsu losing would give way to END showing up, so it's not really questionable. Zeref isn't going to die here, that much is obvious.

Ok, ok, don't group up on me now. I was just saying that it was always implied that Lisanna and Natsu were pretty close when they were young, maybe more in the anime than the manga. I believe it kinda entered crush territory, but I guess it was far-fetched to call it first love so sorry.  

 

@rocci, oh I was talking about a very discussed fan theory that Harry and Hermione were actually siblings who were separated after old Voldy killed Lily and James. Of course, Rowling eventually said it was incorrect, but who knows, maybe Mashima was a fan of that theory.

I don't think they are a sibling after how many tease the author given.

Why I think natsu situation is similiar with Ellie from rave. Doesn't Ellie suppose to be a weapon? No wonder in ft x rave both of them has somekind of similiar role.

Lisanna was supposed to remain dead but you know the story. That said I was kind of surprised that Mashima didn't take this opportunity to do a love triangle, but pretty much seal it with Lucy in the very next arc (Tenrou Island Arc).

Based on his previous manga, it much more easier to identify which pairing would happen.
If he want, he could make it a harem manga with all female characters want natsu.

To be honest, it's easy with almost all series. I feel Naruto just spoiled us bad that it can be "unpredictable" when it's really bad writing.

At this point, Layla's is turning into Tobi. I sure as hell wouldn't be surprised if Mashima drags it out till the Big 500.
