You -should- have a problem with it.

You can't just cherry pick from filler and say "this is canon and this isn't." The arc either IS or IS NOT as a whole. Otherwise you massively distort your character building and plot.

My favorite part was the kittening FABRICATED childhood memories of them together. That didn't happen. They had to create it to give this a shred of substance, It's an utter retcon.




 

And I thought it was bad when Kishi put in the kitten "flashback" about Sasuke saving Karin back in the Forest of Death and that's why she became infatuated with him. I guess it was just his trial run at retconning, to see if people would buy it.

The sad part is that Kishi stopped caring before we did.

I still care about Naruto and Sakura their characters but the only way to do that is not think post chapter 698 even though I think Sakura's design is awesome

Some filler is actually interesting and found it's way into my headcanon. Although, 99% of the anime filler is OOC crap, and doesn't fit into the plot or timeline at all.

That particular filler, I never really felt one way or the other about it. But then, I wasn't aware it was filler at first...I didn't read the manga until 619 and onwards.

 

I do have a problem with the movie exploiting it, but it's just one of a huge list of complaints.

In my opinion, depicting Hinata as Naruto's only friend as a child is massively more damaging than saying Sasuke "ran into Karin one time."

Since Chapter 1 Naruto was always alone. Always. That was the point of the damn manga. Now, all of a sudden, HINATA WAS ALWAYS THERE.

I'm certain I'm not the first here to say it, but...doesn't anyone realize that if Naruto and Hinata were friends as children like the movie spoilers I'm hearing about say...doesn't that change Naruto's story and character completely?? He became the way he was because he grew up without friends, because not even one person reached out to him for so long. Iruka was the first, canon established this long ago. I guess they don't realize or care that changing this fact causes problems =P Crap just doesn't add up.

 

Now, if these particular spoilers are actually fake, ignore me.

Sadly they aren't fake. We've seen images of these scenes so they do exist. This whole movie seems to contradict the manga big time, and I don't see how it can be considered canon.

Pretty much. 15 years of story went up in flames because of the final two chapters and this movie. They're starting over now, and I'm not willing to take the ride with them again on this next story.
