I mean the OVA that depicted the youth of Kenshin and his first love, not the one where he died from disease. Is that one non-canon too? I've always thought it was one of the BEST pieces EVER done in animation, it has no flaws.
I started the Kenshin manga, but I didn't like it too much for some reason.

Yes, it is canon. And it happen in the manga, the arc about where Kenshin get his x Mark. Anime series never touch it.

I understand the different between the manga and anime is the artwork.
The anime is so much good in artwork department. It's like hunterxhunter.
The anime do justice in Kenshin vs shisio.

As for the bleach ones, they pretty much erased Orihime and Sado from the story line which was not okay to me.

I keep asking myself the same question. And I can't come up with a satisfying answer.
The most obvious answer is money. But when you think about it hard you'll realize that that answer is flawed.
Because this won't bring him or SP money. There a more fans of the story than there are fans of the pairings. To put all your money on NH just to try to please the west is insane and a stupid calculation.

No. They are nothing alike

Literally, Orihime actually DOES useful kitten, she actually KNOWS Ichigo. Hinata knows nothing. 
She also doesn't stutter, have trouble looking him in the eye or any of the other bullsh** Hinata does around Naruto.

Is it true that she loves the protagonist? sure, but she's actually FRIENDS with him unlike Hinata.

Orihime was introduced since the beginning and has more panel time Hinata can ever dream of.

 

I'm honestly not a fan of Orihime but she's way better than Hinata.

I really pity Sakura. After developing her character, Kishi chose to downplay her potential to make Hinata the new heroine and Naruto's love interest. Sakura lost her self respect and dignity when she chose the guy who never shown interest, care, and concern to her well being. Gee the guy tried to murder her multiple times! Placed her on a violent genjutsu and even insulted her. Dammit they made her stupid. Well according to Kishi logic, murder attempts equal to unconditional love and POAL means nothing but a simple crush. How dare Naruto say to Sakura that he hates people who lie to themselves when he himself is lying. He lied to his father about Sakura being his gf and to Sai for saying that he couldn't confess til he fulfills his promise. Liar.

 

I wish someone would write a better love story. A shonen manga with a heroine as great as Sakura ( identical to her). A manga that will surpass Naruto  and prove Kishi's love logic wrong. SS is really insulting to all women.

I was very much okay with her appearing as little as possible, though she is much better than Hinata as a character. She has some dimension apart from being totally lovestruck. I wished there were more IchiRuki development, but then I read that Kubo himself considers IchiRuki a non-romantic relationship (even though he calls them soulmates), so I gave up. Since Bleach sucks now, it was more or less easy to do. It seams Rukia is there for Ichigo as Sasuke for Naruto somewhat and of course he will end up in the real world with Orihime (who loved him from the beginning, so how can she possibly not get him).

The only thing she shares with Hinata is her attitude towards Ichigo and her physical apperance.

What  o__o Hinata and Orihime are nothing alike, I hate it when people compare them The only thing they have in common is their big chests (though Orihime's is bigger lol) and their love for the main character, that's it. Besides that, they're completely different with different roles in the story. Orihime isn't even a side character like Hinata, she at least developed along side the MC. How many times does Hinata actually show up in the manga? lol. Hinata can only dream of having as much panel time as her

Orihime has her own Arc, Orihime is a prominent character in Bleach, she SHARES the MFC role with Rukia, who more often then not is sidelined by the males in Bleach. Like literally Rukia barely ever fights. Its almost as bad as what Kishi does to women...Hinata and Orihime don't have a thing in common personality wise. 

Sakura is pretty much a mesh up of Orihime AND rukia into one character.
